  1. I'd suggest that the jack socket is faulty, and remains 'switched on', even with the jack plug removed. It would be easy enough to check, by measuring the current drawn from the battery with the plug in, and again with the plug out. Any run-of-the-mill guitar tech (or even electrician...) could do the test; if there is current drawn without the plug, get the jack socket changed. It's certainly not normal to have a 9v battery go flat so quickly. Even intensive use should last at least a month or so, but most likely much, much longer. Hope this helps.
  2. How do I remember what..?
  3. Here is my contribution to the July 2024 Basschat Composition Challenge, illustrated with a picture chosen by Upside Downer. The theme is set in the title; what else could it be..? Yes, it's a Cycle of Pedal Points, in various forms. Basically a 'standard' chord progression, with a bass line forced to pedal, mostly (but with some walking...), not aided by a slew of synths (well, two, really...) that toodle along merrily, punctuated by a low-key drum track. I found a couple of suitable (for any one definition of 'suitable' ...) vocal tracks, for colour, and a bit more pedalling. All in Reaper, of course, with only a few light Fx, my usual NY Glue Cockos compressors and a spot of Ozone 8 on the Master track. Thanks for listening, if you already have; if you're about to, enjoy.
  4. Random photo; my kits sparkle far less than that one.
  5. Would you buy a bass from this man..? All of ten minutes, edited by a certified ignoramus dummy.
  6. For some..? Maybe. For most..? Not at all. It's an alternative to the 'infinite monkeys on infinite typewriters' approach.
  7. You're in the running for a medal; maybe gold.
  8. As I now use an e-kit, this is a very simple matter. But would he thank you for taking away his single rack tom as being superfluous..? Maybe; some drummers go without.
  9. This could be said of the use of exotic 'boutique' instruments, instead of the tried'n'tested 'staple' ones. Necessary..? We all define what this means. I could (but won't...) reduce my drums to a bass drum, snare, hi-hat and cymbal. Would the audience notice..? I don't know, nor care. I play what I want to play, end of.
  10. ... with a message that is as poignant now as at the time it was penned. It always astounds me how so many 'leaders' seem to be deaf to some of the simple truths in Life.
  11. I presume that the 'Report' button has been triggered (that's the Standard Procedure for signalling stuff that one objects to...)..? The Mod/Admin team do not systematically see posts in the open Forum such as the above ^^; 'Reports' are always seen.
  12. I've seen videos of folk playing music using a carved carrot, or a set of kitchen pots and pans. What has the name of the instrument have to do with the price of fish..?
  13. Create an 'Activity Stream' that doesn't include 'Off Topic' (or any other section not of interest...). That's what I use; I never see a great deal of the Forum as a consequence. Try it, maybe..?
  14. Duly reported, as unacceptable on a public forum.
  15. Not so long ago, bass players had to get used to the differences between acoustic double basses and electric Precision basses (with their amplifiers...); the wheel turns, and it's now the drummer's turn. No-one will bat an eyelid at the 'scaffolding' in a couple of generations from now; acoustic kits will be treasured 'retro' novelties for Grandads, playing that (very...) old-school 'rock' music.
  16. I think that they're a Drum-Tec electronic kit, which use acoustic shells, but are a full-fat e-drum kit. The giveaway for the non-drum-nerds would be the black cymbals. Drum-Tec are very high-end; the sound in that video are proof enough. Splendid performance shown; well done all.
  17. A non-issue; expressions such as 'Hi Honey' did not come naturally to my French wife. Maybe 'Salut, Daddy'..?
  18. Yes, that's about the size of it (although the 'Hi Honey' would have surprised me greatly..!). The 12-string was not valuable (just a Hummingbird copy...), but I'd toured the UK and France with it (no, not as a Player; just whilst 'out'...), and it had a lot of 'mojo' for me. Ah well, such is Life. I've a good acoustic now, but my 12-string is an electric (Daisy Rock Retro...)...
  19. Definitely from my 'patch' (I was based in Shepperton...), but that was (1977...) just after I'd left for France, so I missed their performances (and, indeed, their very existence...) by a couple of years. It's maybe not too late; I'll look 'em up, as what I've since read of them make me think that they could be right up my street. Thanks for the 'heads up', and the kind comments. I don't post often, but I try to select stuff that 'speaks' to me.
