  1. And the joint winners are... Dad3353 and Upside Downer ..! Here, then, are your Winner's Certificates (download and save as pdf file, then proudly print and frame...) ... BC_Chal_Cert_2021_01.pdf ... which look like this (but bigger, of course..!)...
  2. Anthem of the Sun, Grateful Dead ...

    Hello!

Good evening, Rogo, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
  4. As a True Beginner; that was the first thing I did : list all the 'C' licks, then the 'one flat/sharp' licks and so on. It's good, I think, to have 'em all mixed up, as one may turn the pages and get fresh stuff to read, but an index at the back (or front; whatever...) listing all the 'C's, all the 'C#'s, all the 'D's... etc wouldn't cost much, and would be helpful for those 'dipping their toe' into the book for the first (or second...) time. Just a thought.
  5. Don't they collect mushrooms or something..?
  6. The bloke really knows what he's talking about. Great Stuff.
  7. Son of Suzy Creamcheese, Frank Zappa
  8. Good evening, Pete, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
  9. Which reminds me (lazy beggar that I am...); I've still not posted the Certificate for last month. How very amiss of me; I'll see to that this evening (hopefully...).
  10. John McLaughlin Trio, Live at the RFH.
  11. Disclaimer : I self-declared Upside Downer as Joint Winner, as I'd not voted in time, and that would have tipped the balance (I wasn't well...). I also twisted his arm (despite being not well, such is my influence and power...) into choosing the (excellent...) picture for stimulating the creative instincts of the participants. ... ... So all blame credit goes to him.
  12. Absolutely brilliant; a Great Watch. Thanks a bunch for posting. I've learnt a lot in a very short time, and will eagerly try this out in my future stuff. One slight problem is my duff hearing; he's lauding the Release on a Ride cymbal that I can't hear..! No matter, I've captured the spirit of his propos, that's the main thing. Good Stuff; Really Good Stuff.
  13. In my mind's eye, I can see Sylvia wincing at some of the lyrics..!
  14. A Day in the Life (Beatles...)
  15. There's tons more to come, too, such as ... Dave Mattacks Spencer Dryden (RIP...) Martin Lamble (RIP...) Michael Shrieve Bill Kreutzmann Mickey Hart Christian Vander Ruth Underwood
  16. Please advise once you've had a 'hands-on' look; I think your curiosity will be piqued enough to at least try a few out. I have quite a stack of methods (for all sorts of instruments...), but found the 'Alfred' book interesting enough to give it a go, and I'm a drummer..! Maybe check back here with your view on it..?
  17. For useful exercise in reading, I found this to be worth a visit ... Alfred Kalfass 'Soul Essentials'... It's not (and not intended to be...) a tutorial, but a series of 500 riffs and patterns, all very playable, for practicing one's skills. Good value, I found. I found it through his ( @alfred...) announcement on this very Forum. Worth a look..?
  18. I'd love to. ...
  19. I bought a DI pedal, sent to France. Very smooth transaction, with great communication, and a great price, including postage. Package arrived swiftly, in perfect condition; I'm well pleased with the affair. Thanks again, Paddy; you're a Good Egg. I'd buy again with no qualms whatever.
  20. Three, so : drums (obviously; I'm a drummer...), guitar (I started out with this, and still play regularly...) and bass (played on the guitar at first, until I bought a 'real' bass, if a Vox counts as such...). I now have several basses, the 'goto' being my Hofner Verithin. I dabble in keys, but only very modestly, so I've not counted that, nor the 'virtual' orchestral instruments available through my DAW.
  21. I'm surprised (and not a little hurt...) that my name has not yet been mentioned. ...
  22. That's a very old version of Reaper; here's how I'd do it in mine (5.983...), but it may be slightly different for you... Under 'Options', right at the bottom of the drop-down list, I have 'Themes', which allow choosing between 'Default', 'Default_4.0', 'Default_6.0' and 'Classic_1.x'. One of those might help you. Just beneath 'Themes', I also have 'Layouts', from which I can choose 'Default Layout' and a whole host of others, giving each different variants in the sizes of the elements on screen. Have a look there..? Hope this helps, but it's not certain.
  23. Good afternoon, Andrew, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
