Things evolve, and folks evolve too. These disparaging aspersions are more indications of your own 'mindset' than that of others.

I'm not a professional, and adhere only to my own standards, be they good or bad. I'm not typing, here, as a Mod, but as a Forum member, so 'Yes, this is my 'power trip''. Carry on; you're doing well. Keep digging at me if you wish; I've thick skin.

Whatever. I could point you to some of your own previous posts on this very Forum, for which warnings have been issued, yet you've been 'pardoned' enough to still be here. Maybe your own 'logic' should be applied and you not given any second chances..?

If this is a sincere belief, I despair. 'Glass houses' and 'stones' come to mind, as do 'pots' and 'kettles'. Just for balance, I'd suggest 'pardon' and 'forgiveness' as elements of vocabulary.

Indeed, and answered as such. There's some 'cool' in other reactions, though. Maybe I've (we've..?) been dabbling only in the shallow end of the pool..? I though the fellow worked wonders; others seem to think it simply 'Bof..!'.

I will admin to not having watched it through to the end, and that what I did watch didn't inspire much more than recognition that the bloke plays drums just fine, albeit in slightly more muscular fashion than myself. I'd draw (cruel...) comparison to the performances of Christian Vander (Magma...), who has this style down to a 'T'. Another league altogether, in my view. So: good drummer, certainly; I won't be buying tickets to watch him. Magma..? Yes, indeed, and I'd travel..!

It's a shame we're so distant..! I have an added advantage, though, in being deaf enough to support wah-fuzz-synth bass playing..!

Some may not appreciate what's going on here; others might see Magic happening. What camp are you in..?

Your present Ibanez is a fine bass; there's not much better in that price bracket. Why do you want another in its place..?

There's a sample page on the web site; there's no tab in there at all. In fact, the whole idea is to be able to progressively improve one's reading, as there are lines for everyone, from 'just starting to read' to fairly complex. If there's any interest at all in wanting to improve, I'd say it's a great resource. If one can only 'read' tab, maybe it's a way out of that..? Hope this helps.

This is dangerous talk. Mixing and Mastering are Dark Arts, involving many Untold Secrets and a Whole Host Of Gear that Humans don't have to hand. One common denominator, though, is Ears. Most folks have 'em, but to be useful in this domain, they usually need Training. This can be inexpensive, if one has, instead of a Wallet, a decent Bucket-full of Patience. One tip I can pass on (you'll have to come a bit closer to the screen, though, so the others don't see...). Once the recordings are finished, listen to them, all together, and imagine you're listening to a track by [insert group in the same genre you're familiar with]. Then listen to a track by that same group. Where is there a difference (there most likely will be, and probably quite a lot...)..? Try to identify, mentally, what it is fundamentally that is different. Use broad, mental brush-strokes for this : cymbals too loud, disto guitar mushy, singer's notes wavering, too much or too little bass... Go back to the mixing of your tracks and see what can be done (again, broad strokes...) to get closer to the 'model'. Rinse and repeat. There is a website which, in my view, gives a darned good way in to this art ... Mixing Secrets For The Small Studio ... There's a lot of stuff in there, but if you're keen, it's a treasure trove. Worth a look..?

Indeed; now define 'proper kit'. 1/4" tape is (or, rather, 'was'...) pretty ubiquitous, with few (but important...) variants, but 1" tape is much more specific. 4, 8, 16 track..? Spool size..? Running speed..? Pre-record treatment such as Dolby (and which one...)..? I could go on. The studio I linked to have a pretty wide range of gear, and once identified, could handle, I suspect, any 'normal' 1" tape. Useful if you've not got, yourself, the specs of the tape to hand. Yes, it's easy, and the result would, indeed, be a 'bunch of WAV files' or similar. Others offer the same service, but there aren't many that can cater for an unknown format, unless they're just lucky. Just sayin', hope this helps.

Are you saying that none of your current basses can be made to respond to a 'slapping' technique..? What's stopping them from sounding 'right'..?

Sorry, can't do 1" tape (Slice it lengthwise..? No..? Oh well ...). This fellow has the gear for that (1" multi-track and more...) ... The White House, Weston-Super-Mare ... Worth enquiring..?

No problem for me, transferring to digital; I've dozens of similar tapes from 'back then' (fifty years ago; where did the time go..?). The only issue is delivering it (to France...) and sending it back. If you can get it to me, I'm equipped to deal with it. Of course, if there's others closer to home, go for it, but it's a doddle, for those with a suitable reel to reel and an interface.
