  1. Ha..! You're in good company; this is Basschat..!
  2. Try this one... 03-181018_2342_2.rpp
  3. If you don't know how to do that, we can try a step by step 'walk-through'.
  4. Erik... All the notes played have a velocity maxed out in thta project (as if hitting the strings with a hammer, really...). Reduce the velocity (I set them to 80, for instance...), and it sounds much better.
  5. Taken just now from Ebay.co.uk, used, 'BIN', with approximate postage costs. I've not selected on make, just availability, but not damaged, of course... Hi-hat £20 HH Stand £15 2 x Cymbal stands £30 20" Ride £25 16" Crash £25 Total £115 There are also packs of 'beginner' cymbals starting at £20 or so. Is that expensive as a 'get you going' deal..?
  6. If there's urgency, maybe have the original pickup put back for now..? What bass, and what pickup..? Someone may recognise their compatibility.
  7. Wow, I've been using (modestly...) Reaper for several years now, and had never come across this way of adding Fx to a track..! (The 'right click' is on the 'Track' 'recording armed' button, by the way, not the 'Transport' record button...) It just highlights the utility of reading the very extensive manual(s), maybe several times..! I've just tried it out, recording two tracks of my bass, the first with a Boogex amp preset, the second with an Ozone reverb preset. No apparent latency, though, on my i5 PC, or, at least, nothing that disturbed my playing to the metronome. Other Fx, or bunging in a whole lot more, could change that though, I suppose. On the other hand, I'm not sure why one would want to 'bake in' Fx in this way. It's true that I'm rather a drummer; bass players may have different ways of doing stuff. Still, it's an insight, and very useful to know. Thanks for the tip; another string to my bow when composing, so it's all good..!
  8. For many years I was the lighter for a ska/rock/punk band, here in France (Kiemsa...); your anecdote brings back many memories of similar (and worse..!) situations. Thanks for posting.
  9. Offers and trade propositions posted in 'For Sale' ads are systematically deleted. They are to be made by Private Message (PM...) only. Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
  10. OK; whatever. There appears to be two spellings doing the rounds, so... Never mind, back to the topic; s'no matter.
  11. See my previous post ^^ ...
  12. Bring one with you as part of the backline..? https://youtu.be/odKf7_sA5HQ (Can't embed the video, but it may be inspiring to see how others do it..? )
  13. Cringlewangers are adjustable..? ...
  14. By this same reasoning, are there any brave enough to listen to the hi-hat and say whether it's a Zildian, Paiste or Sabian (others are available; the list is long...), and what diameter, or model..? Is that a Vistalite kit on that track or are they oak shells..? What sticks..? Nylon-tipped or not..? Does any drummer, in any of your bands, change snare drums, mid-set, to get 'that' sound..? Hmm... I'm not suggesting that there is no difference at all in basses, but I certainly think (in fact, I'm pretty convinced...) that it's very much over-thunk by bass players (well, those on this forum, anyway...). I've known lots of players that are more concerned about the difference between accented semi-quavers and staccato notes than what wood the fingerboard is made from. An interesting enough subject, of course, but with no possible conclusion, in my view.
  15. Fixed. (No, not simply pedantry; there really is a Brandi Wynn, but she's not the bass player with OT...)
  16. Back in the days of 100 watt valve amps, the power stage was always connected to the output transformer, so always 'saw' the same load, and delivered the same wattage. The other side of the transformer matched the cabs, and more speakers meant more air being moved, so louder.
  17. Do you not know anyone in a relevant country that could take delivery, then send it on (or that you could pick up from...)..?
  18. News to very few of you, but I, for one, share the sentiments in the song, and feel very comfortable with the notion of sharing the World, with no countries, no religion, no possessions, no hunger, no greed. I'll like as not not see the day, of course, and some may say I'm a dreamer, but I'll do my (tiny...) bit along that stony path. As for the video clip, I've heard worse, much worse. Will I buy it..? Nah.
  19. It may be worth noting that cardboard boxes are at their best if kept dry. A couple of spots of rain would pass, but not much more, at the risk of turning back to the 'porridge' that they were originally made from. Not a pretty sight.
  20. ... or tune down a semi-tone and use a first-fret capo for the stuff in standard tuning..? Lazy, yes, but it's an option.
  21. Is that a dragon's head carved into the headstock of that bass..?
  22. Not much better on a dance-floor, I suspect.
  23. From the technical point of view as a bass player, this is quite true, but as a piece of music to be played to a non-concert audience, it has, I believe, little appeal. Good for study, but a guaranteed party-pooper, except in a (very...) few 'beatnik' circles (and even then...).
  24. Here is my contribution to the October 2018 Basschat Composition Challenge, inspired by a picture chosen by last month's winner: Lurksalot. All Kontakt this time, using solely the 'Factory' orchestral brass and percussion. It may sound a tad dark at the beginning, but lightens up soon enough as the mellow surroundings and welcome sunshine leave their stamp. A bit of harking back to those 'Good Old Days' and reminiscences of more carefree times, perhaps. Thanks for listening, if you already have; if you're about to, enjoy.
