  1. Good evening, Del, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
  2. Good evening, Neil , and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
  3. Ah, my mistake; thanks for clarifying. I shouldn't post when I 'm not feeling well, eh..? Still, the principle remains; it's repairable, I say.
  4. @Dood: That's a darned shame, but it's not that difficult a repair for a decent luthier. It won't make it new, of course, but it would be eminently playable, and certainly not firewood. Have you approached anyone to get a quote..? At first view of the photos, I'd say it would be worth it (I could be wrong...). Pardon the topic derailing; carry on, chaps...
  5. She's no slouch, either..!
  6. I think he was rather referring to a certain Mrs Jacko, whoever that may be.
  7. I'm a very lovely chap, too, but I don't try to sing on national television.
  8. Those are pretty decent, if basic, amps. At that price, it's a gift. 50 valve watts; plenty enough for most gigs.
  9. Good evening, Emil, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share. My top tip concerning learning the bass would be to obtain this book ... Hal Leonard Electric Bass Method - Complete Edition Which covers everything, from real beginner to very competent, in sound, steady, coherent stages. It can be acquired second-hand at a stupidly low price; the ring binding makes it easy to lie flat, either on a desk or table, or on a music stand. Go for a change of bass if you want, but progress will be made through this method, whatever bass you play. Recommended. Hope this helps.
  10. All very well, but no Hofner Verithin..! Also a Douglas 6-string fretless and an OLP Baritone guitar, plus Our Youngest's 5-string Cort.
  11. Mistakes..? What are these 'mistakes' of which you speak..?
  12. To be fair, the amp in the photos is on 'Standby'...
  13. It's probably just missing a semi-colon after Paypal, s'all. Punctuation, eh..? Who needs it..?
  14. Good afternoon, GIG , and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.

    Hiya!

Good evening, Bob , and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
  16. Well, they are played by inflating a 'bag', and have drones, for skirling, so would count as bagpipes for the purposes of the Challenge. Still, it's the Highland stuff that causes umbrage, mostly. The softer, more lilting notes of other forms are not so hard on the lugs. I'd also put the kibosh on other pipes, of the Brittany biniou and bombarde ilk, as being unfit for human consumption. The penance for transgression of these 'suggestions' have yet to be formalised, as there have, to date, been none daft enough to really risk it, but there is, perhaps, far more menace in the unknown than if penalties were to be clearly stated. I doubt, though, there'd be any repeating of the transgression; it takes quite a while for the lesions to heal.
  17. ... It's that 'Eye' in the bar at the top of the Edit box. Hover the mouse over each and learn what they all are. (but don't go pressing the 'Eye' one several times over, or you'll be in for 30€ again...)
  18. Fixed. That'll be 30€, please. ...
  19. That would please me not at all..! I'm very fussy about the state of my cymbals; they're stored in Cymbags until the very moment we're about to play, and are the very first thing I cover over at the end. No-one, not even myself, touches my cymbals with their bare fingers, so as for using 'em as a drinks tray...
  20. Good afternoon, Baaheed , and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
  21. Good afternoon, Arnel, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
  22. There have been exceptions, where both myself and Lenny sneaked 'em into our respective compos. We didn't win, obviously, and anyway, they weren't Scottish bagpipes. We're not completely daft.
  23. Good evening, Biggles, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share. How's Algy these days..?
