  1. Good afternoon, Rikkers, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share. Welcome back; little has changed, except for the better..!
  2. We're presently working out a set for our group (The Daub'z...) for a gig mid-June. For various reasons, we've not been playing, nor even meeting up, for over two years. We've drawn up a list of songs to go into the hour-and-a-bit set from past repertoires, including SOAD, RATM, Nirvana, Pink Floyd, Noir Désir, RHCP and many more. There are fifty or so on the list; we'll choose about fifteen or so. All of us can play any or all of these, no sweat, on demand. None of us use any support at all, neither tab, notation, recordings... They're all played solely from memory, having rehearsed them in the (sometimes distant...) past. For my part (on drums...), I've a fifty-year long repertoire of variety stuff and dance music, with songs spanning well over a century, which I played intensely for several years as a pro drummer. Believe me when I say that some of it sticks..! All in all, 200+ doesn't seem that unusual to me; if we, as a very amateur group, can collectively call up fifty or so, any half-serious player could easily beat that, as long as they've had exposure to a fairly varied repertoire over a reasonable length of time. Nothing unusual in that, for me.
  3. Good evening, Jam , and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
  4. Easily done, the way it was made.
  5. Love: Forever Changes ...
  6. It's easy to confuse the terms 'cheap' and 'inexpensive'. They are not, however, completely interchangeable. Cheap in price does not systematically equate to cheap in quality. The opposite is also true: higher cost is not necessarily higher quality. Just sayin'.
  7. That's answered here... Your First Ever Gig..? ... Well done, and please stop selling yourself short; you're doing darned good, better than several here, and far better than anyone who's never even tried to play bass..! Keep going; onward and upward..!
  8. Fixed. ...
  9. Nah, my accountant says it'd push me over into the high-tax bracket. Pop it into the tin for the poor of the parish. ...
  10. [Pedantry] I'd have to disagree; it's counted in (typically on the hihat...) as '1-2-3-4-1' for the riff to commence on the following 'and' off-beat. [/Pedantry]
  11. Our band is called 'The Daub'z', which basically means 'Rotten', or Cheezy, Old Hat'. We used to practise at La Daubellière', which was the original inspiration for the name, and it's just stuck. It's never been an obstacle to being asked for, but is rarely (read: never...) correctly spelt on posters, flyers etc, or local press revues. Such is fame.
  12. Word ^^. That's how it's done (and should be done...).
  13. This ^^ from a bloke named 'BreadBin'.
  14. Yes, I think we all sussed that out. Well, you can collect your 50p, as no-one would ever even dream of the first 'logical' set-up. Do we get to share the spoils..?
  15. No bottom snare, then..? Or 'None of the above'..? (Just sayin'; I voted '2'... )
  16. Kiemsa were youngsters (very early twenties...), and, when looking for a drummer, didn't want to consider anyone 'old' (over thirty, for instance...). Danny-boy was auditioned, despite this, at thirty-four, and the rest is history. Fitted into the team like a glove, and remained a mainstay for several years, certainly contributing much to their success. Moral..? Age is very often a false factor. Just sayin'.
  17. Ah, so that's an iPod..! I always wondered.
  18. Now I know what 'click-bait' really means. Well done; you got me there (although a great deal less than 3m08 of my life was wasted...). ... ...
  19. Good afternoon, Ron, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
  20. It's the only way, apparently.
  21. @Skol303: Is it possible to lock the vote each month when the Fat Lady has sung..? Not sure, but I think I've seen polls closed to future votes somewhere. Just a thought...
  22. Yes, it's the 'Report' button. A friendly Mod will oblige as rapidly as is reasonable, and for a very modest fee.
  23. And the winner is... Rikki1984..! Here, then, is your Winner's Certificate (download and save as pdf file, then proudly print and frame...) ... BC_Chal_Cert_2018_04.pdf ... which looks like this (but bigger, of course..!)…
  24. Famous..? Never heard of 'em, but ... Wiki: Paramore ...
