  1. A nice thought; well done, you. Here it is, then, at twice the size, for the short-sighted old gits...
  2. Special showing for 'lefties' ...
  3. Assuming it's for tracking the bass alone (not 'live' with others playing...), just place the mic at mid-height about 1 metre or so in front of cab. Room acoustics will play a part in the sound recorded, so moving stuff around and trying different locations (cab in a corner, or in the middle of the room etc..?) could be rewarding. If there are others playing at the same time, it will be difficult to completely avoid 'bleed', but the mic at mid-cone height, horizontally halfway between cone centre and rim, 20 cm from the cab might be a place to start. More 'toppy' towards the cone centre, less towards the rim, distance to be adjusted by trial. Closer: less 'bleed', but less 'girth'. Just my tuppence-worth, subject to completion, correction and/or contradiction from others. Hope this helps.
  4. Good morning, Thomas, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
  5. Good evening, DG , and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
  6. You could get the extension cab to be connected up in series to your combo speaker (cabling mods needed, but not difficult nor costly...). You would then have your two cabs, with the amp seeing a reduced load, so maybe happier. Any mileage..?
  7. DIN plugs were basically a European standard, and as the 'market' was supplanted by Japanese products, using mainly RCA (Phono...) plugs, the World adopted those instead. DIN plugs are more fragile, and require more expertise to correctly wire up, so went the way of the Dodo. They're still available, of course, and still have their uses, but no longer for mass-market 'consumer' goods. Digital technology and the use of serial buses have changed the game since. Such is the way of evolution and progress. (And you're right; HH was (and still is...) classy stuff... )
  8. In not so long from now, someone will be saying 'What..? A USB socket..? I've not seen one for decades..! Whatever happened to them..?'. This is a crazy price for an excellent amp/combo; if I were on the UK mainland I'd be driving to Bristol to pick it up (despite its weight...). I've a brother in South Wales; I'm half-tempted to see if he'll 'store' it for me..! £50 for this..? Amazing value. Disclaimer: I already have an HH 2 x 15 folded horn cab, so I'm in no need of extra gear, but this is a monster amp, and would grace any stage or studio. Hmm... I may 'phone my brother just the same...
  9. He won't need make-up. My agents will be in touch.

  14. Well, obviously that should be a clean, dry towel, not some beer-sodden rag..! Some folks wash their stuff, I'm told.

  17. What bait do you use for your bass traps..? I tried click-bait for a while, but it didn't trap bass, only Spam. The tone I'm hearing in my headset is much better now, though. Now, if only I could find something to reduce the constant chirruping in my ears and those persistent angry steam whistles, I'd be able to mix with the best of 'em. Next project..? Oak panelling for the Main Library, and draperies for the West Wing. I may consider plasterboard for the domestics' quarters (but may not...).

  20. Good morning, Jlawren3, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share. If you've a tutor, ask him/her about practise routines and extra source material, perhaps..?

  22. Pointless..! We have a French version of that, now, but with a different game show host, of course.
  23. There's no counter possible with analytical criticism of that order.
