  1. Mussolini was followed and revered by many at one point, too.
  2. Yeah, he nicked all my best lines, the scallywag.
  3. Yes, I use it for Normalising, rough and ready chopping of heads and tails, and quick and dirty fade-outs. All my ISIHAC files have been doctored in this way. Very efficient, once one has the work-flow sorted. I use Reaper for most everything else, though.
  4. I'm having trouble with this. Am I to understand that you're alluding to the use of... tea bags..?
  5. Aha..! You're a poet, but just didn't ... realise it.
  6. Sorry, poor punctuation. Fixed.
  7. Yes, I agree; there are sources that take a different approach. I don't hold with their views, that's all. We are all free to choose who to give credence to; I've chosen the '3' camp. My 'analogy' was only relevant to the subject in the sense that definitions are, by definition, defining something. If a triangle (for instance...) is 'defined' as having three sides, then that's the end of the matter, and questioning 'why' is somewhat futile. In the same way, if one 'defines' chords as having 3 or more notes (as I do, along with others...), then that bears little discussion. It's a definition, not an explanation. It's true, I could have chosen any number of 'defining' examples; I chose a triangle.
  8. Sugar..? In tea..? Heresy..!
  9. Personally, I'd say 'Both'. I'm not expert in the private lives of folks in general, and tittle-tattle is not a reliable source for judging people at all, but the tales told and some videos don't do much to make the bloke sympathetic to me. His playing is equally somewhat bereft of humility, for the most part. As I posted above, he was a brilliant showman, and a virtuoso drummer; there's no denying that. Would I go to see him play 'live', even in his prime..? No, I wouldn't. My loss, quite likely, but I'd rather stay at home and listen to Spencer Dryden, Dave Mattacks or Joe Morello. A question of taste, that's all.
  10. You've seen me (trying to...) carry trays of mugs of tea, then..!
  11. In most dictionaries, for instance... Definition of a 'chord' in music ... ... and in many music theory sources ... Chords defined ... Although I could have referenced several that allow two notes as chords, too. Choose your camp..? It's quite rare for an analogy to hold true in every respect, being a comparison of similar features, but not implying they be identical. How many bristles are need to define a toothbrush as a toothbrush before it gets so bald as to no longer count as one..? Hmm...
  12. Does it work any better from outside the cave..? ... ...
  13. If you'll excuse the 'analogy', it's a little bit like asking 'Why does a triangle have to have three sides..?' It's defined that way, and, in most music theory (not all, I'll admit; dissent is the spice of academic life, after all...), a chord is defined as being three or more notes heard together. Why does an interval have to be between two notes..? Because that's what an 'interval' is. Why does unison have to have only one note..? It's its definition, that's all. Same with chords, I'd say; may be wrong.
  14. 'Wav' files are fine, too, but more bulky, so longer upload time, s'all. Remember, for what I do, I'm not looking for commercial uber quality; the 'standard' stuff is, I find, quite good enough for my cloth ears.
  15. What's an 'app' (don't forget, I'm old..! )..? I use a PC, and go to the 'Soundcloud' site. There, there is an option for creating an account. It is normally displayed on the first page, when addressing 'Soundcloud.com'. Try that..?
  16. Carpet is fine, but beware of damp. I'd suggest a vinyl floor covering, and rugs. These can be laid out or rolled up as required (the sound may be better with e 'hard' floor, or not; it all depends...), and cleaning might be easier (a decent broom over vinyl is a doddle, or mop and bucket in cases of spillage...). In any case, don't go looking for professional sound quality at first; get 'bedded in' a bit, to see what (if anything...) would make things as you want 'em. Subject to correction, completion and/or contradiction from others; good luck with the project.
  17. Create if you've not got one, it's free, a Soundcloud account, then load the file, preferably in MP3 format, to there. Post a link to the Soundcloud track, stand back and admire. If any of that causes issues, post again here with description of the problem and someone is sure to be able to help. Ignorance..? Dunno what that means, innit..?
  18. This should be in the BC Marketplace, 'Basses For Sale' section. I'll leave it unreported for now, as I've got to rush out for an urgent pee errand; please post it in the correct location. Thanks in advance.
  19. Far from being my 'favourite drummer', but respect; he plays all that in a three-piece suit and 'dicky' bow tie, and is way past his teens. A showman's showman, and a great model for 'fronting' the drummer. I must say I prefer when he's playing with and for the band, rather than these solo set-pieces, but it shows how it can be done (given decades of hard, dedicated practise and one hell of a dose of talent...). Thanks for posting.
  20. Maybe not the bes clip for showing off the tones of a 12-stringer (or any bass, for that matter..)..! I can't remember ever having listened to any track at all and thought 'Hmm, that's a 12-string'. I'm sure that the sound in isolation is identifiable, but with the rest of the racket going on in that clip the bloke could just as well have been miming, for all I could make of it.
