  1. Carpet is fine, but beware of damp. I'd suggest a vinyl floor covering, and rugs. These can be laid out or rolled up as required (the sound may be better with e 'hard' floor, or not; it all depends...), and cleaning might be easier (a decent broom over vinyl is a doddle, or mop and bucket in cases of spillage...). In any case, don't go looking for professional sound quality at first; get 'bedded in' a bit, to see what (if anything...) would make things as you want 'em. Subject to correction, completion and/or contradiction from others; good luck with the project.
  2. Create if you've not got one, it's free, a Soundcloud account, then load the file, preferably in MP3 format, to there. Post a link to the Soundcloud track, stand back and admire. If any of that causes issues, post again here with description of the problem and someone is sure to be able to help. Ignorance..? Dunno what that means, innit..?
  3. This should be in the BC Marketplace, 'Basses For Sale' section. I'll leave it unreported for now, as I've got to rush out for an urgent pee errand; please post it in the correct location. Thanks in advance.
  4. Far from being my 'favourite drummer', but respect; he plays all that in a three-piece suit and 'dicky' bow tie, and is way past his teens. A showman's showman, and a great model for 'fronting' the drummer. I must say I prefer when he's playing with and for the band, rather than these solo set-pieces, but it shows how it can be done (given decades of hard, dedicated practise and one hell of a dose of talent...). Thanks for posting.
  5. Maybe not the bes clip for showing off the tones of a 12-stringer (or any bass, for that matter..)..! I can't remember ever having listened to any track at all and thought 'Hmm, that's a 12-string'. I'm sure that the sound in isolation is identifiable, but with the rest of the racket going on in that clip the bloke could just as well have been miming, for all I could make of it.
  6. Emphasis on the term 'noise'.
  7. Also... Select your login ID (top right...); there's a menu entry 'Manage Followed Content', where any or all topics followed may be seen and edited.
  8. Now you're just being silly.
  9. A 'standard' palette is 1200 x 1000 mm (so diagonal of 1562 mm...) That's 48" x 40" in old money, diagonal of just over 61". How long is a 'standard' bass, in its case..?
  10. You can enter even if you've nothing but a kazoo and a wax cylinder..! The material used is immaterial; if you could see some of the stuff we've been cobbling up over these past years..! Just jump in; the water's lovely, and welcome.
  11. Selling sandwiches, perhaps, or... butter..?
  12. Offers and trade propositions posted in 'For Sale' ads are systematically deleted. They are to be made by Private Message (PM...) only. Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

    Hi folks

Good morning, Spikey, and ... Plenty to read and amuse you here, and lots to learn and share.
  14. +1 ^^ (although I'll admit that it took a while before I could listen to all of '200 Motels' in one sitting...)
  15. There's plenty of books out there explaining why the Earth is flat. It doesn't mean they're right.
  16. Yes, I found that, too.
  17. Ah. That's where I use the (dead-pan...) smiley.
  18. The semantics would have it that three notes are needed to be a 'chord'. Two notes together are, technically, an 'interval'. The loose expression 'power chord' has crept into modern parlance, and is grudgingly accepted with a nod to rock folks, but definitions are definitions, so, pedantically, one would say that three notes are needed, at a minimum, to have technical 'chord' status. The debate will doubtless rage on, however, and the tectonic plates continue their voyage.
  19. The previous version of the forum had the same anti-cuss filter, but would simply replace the offending expression with a series of '******'. It was decided that, with the new software version, it would be just as efficient (at not letting bad language pollute the forum...), but more 'fun', to replace the words with 'lighter' alternatives. It may not appeal to all, of course, and is irrelevant if one doesn't use such language on a family-friendly forum in the first place. Hope this helps.
  20. Wikipedia's topics 'Dyad' and 'Power chords' are worth a glance, too.
