  1. Set the PA up to get the best vocal sound, and everyone else plays to that level. If the drummer can't do that, don't try to fiddle with the PA to 'compensate'. Once everyone (including the venue...) realise who's responsible, measures can be taken, either by the drummer, or by the band. If the drums are always drowning out the vocals, the bookings will dry up. If there's an option of an e-kit, the Millenium MPS 850 is an affordable quality kit, made even better if triggering Superior Drummer software on a laptop. Superb quality drums with complete control over volume and playing style (except swish brushes...).
  2. These last videos ^^ are a far better 'selling point' than the cleanly-produced 'couch' ones, in my opinion.
  3. Hmm... I might be interested. Can you deliver the bass to France..? ... .. No, just kidding, of course. Go Iris..!
  4. You can now sell the bass for just £800 ..! ...
  5. Two-thirds done in sixteen hours..! Can this be done and dusted in one day..? BC power for the win..! Go BC..!
  6. It's taken four years for the Gumment to not contribute at all. It's taken BC about fourteen hours to come up with half of what's needed. A Big Up for Basschat..!
  7. Just a tip : When contributing through Paypal, a bit extra is added to the gift from them, so the crowdfund grows even quicker.
  8. S'not true of NN, though, where the notion of simplicity is privileged. The Arabic numbers, instead of Roman, make it easy to note easy charts, but give much less information once the songs become complex. I never use NN, and I treat it as equivalent to Tab : useful for simple stuff, but no more. I don't see any advantage with 6-, 4, 1, 5 when i, VI, III, VII does the job so well.
  9. The link below has a good stab at explaining it ... The Nashville Numbering System ... It starts to become cumbersome quite quickly, though.
  10. The NN uses the diatonic notes in the key indicated. If in Em (I...), C would be VI, G is III and D is VII. All one has to know is one's Major scale and one's natural minor scale to allocate the NN Roman numbers. If using Arabic numbers, the number would simply be that of the relative major, with a minor chord being indicated with a '-' sign, so, for a song in Em (so annotated in 'G Major'...), the notation would be 6- 4 1 5. Personally I prefer the Roman system; it seems clearer to me.
  11. My 'Middle C Principle', recounted in a previous post, here ...
  12. Darn it..! I hadn't thought of that..! Hmm... Where's the nearest telephone..? Quickly, now..!
  13. To be discussed again once you reach the age to retire. With my modest career, and occasional gigs, I'm now very happy with the pension I receive, having contributed for all those decades. It helped that the jobs I had were interesting, even if modestly paid; the gigs weren't bad either. It's possible to have both sides of one's bread buttered, and still have cream towards the end.
  14. On the other hand, Life is too short for any pettiness. Let it go, you're bigger than that, and no kittens have been harmed.
  15. Luxury. 'Back then', our 'tour bus' was an Ariel Square Four; we had to run alongside, each with an element of the drum kit tied with shoelaces to our backs, swerving around the telegraph poles, in t'rain, with no shoes, from Norwich to Cardiff, most week-ends. ...
  16. I'm surprised to hear that you don't find this head to be 'loud'. In good state, they are often used to explode ex-nazi coastline bunkers with sonic power. It won't work well with small 1x10 cabs, but given a 4x12 stack, or 2x15, it'll remove all the glass from your house, and the neighbours. What cab are you using..? All this depends, of course, of it being in its original (or correctly upgraded...) specification, original 'Partridge' transformers, and six matched output valves. In full swing, it would melt the Orange Super Crush. There's no comparaison with Peavey amps, either. If it's not loud, get it fixed, and stand far enough back when you turn it on afterwards. Yes, they are heavy, though.
  17. I don't think that 'cheap' is the best description, with its connotations of 'lack of quality'. Perhaps the term 'inexpensive' would be more accurate..?
  18. Overkill, but if cash is no object...
  19. It would indeed, but it would be a bit more 'fiddly' than Reaper, for instance, in my opinion (I use both, but for different things; each has its uses...).
  20. No need, ever, for a sub with an acoustic kit. For an e-kit, I use 'sport' earphones, which are lightweight and allow all ambient sound (they're not really 'in ears'...), so I get the full benefit of my drums, mixed how I like it, whatever the FOH or Monitoring for the band, whilst still hearing what's going on on stage from the foldback monitors and backline amps.. This solution works in every case, whether practicing alone, rehearsing, in a pub or a stadium, and it costs next to nothing. I take the feed from my Tascam audio interface (two headphone sockets...) which send the audio from my Superior Drummer laptop to FOH and foldback. It would work in exactly the same manner if I was using only the e-drum 'brain' for the sound, as they all have an independent headphone 'out'. Here's the type of headset I use; no issues hearing bass drum, snare, hi-hat... whatever... Much lighter, better, controlled sound, and less messing about than any 'sub' solution, if it's only for the drummer.
  21. I see no problem with this, as long as the normal conditions, the same as any ad are respected. I would suggest either ... Effects For Sale ... ... or ... Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale ... ... for such items. Hope this helps, and Good Luck With The Sale.
  22. They don't come much better than this, and at an unbeatable low cost ... Hal Leonard Bass Method, Complete Edition ... Note the spiral binding, allowing it to lie flat. Note also that if you get stuck on any point on theory, ask here; you'll get help.
