  1. Offers and trade propositions posted in 'For Sale' ads are systematically deleted. They are to be made by Private Message (PM...) only. Thanks in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
  2. Allow me to recommend an excellent film on the subject (French, but available in English too, I think...). 'Coup de Tête', (1979...) written by Alain Godard and Francis Veber, directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud. I don't know how easy it'd be to find, but it's worth trying, I'd suggest.
  3. You mean... Gasp..! You mean you knew all that anyway, but were just winding me up..? Why, you little... ... ... There'll be a 'next time', just you wait. How goes the expression..? Ah yes: 'Vengeance is a dish best served cold'.
  4. Oh dear; where to start..? The pick-ups 'pick up' voltage because they are in a magnetic field being altered by the vibration of magnetic strings. The coils generate electricity, just like a car alternator, but less of it, which is why one needs pre-amps and amplifiers. It can be easily demonstrated by connecting the guitar output to an oscilloscope (so no amplifier...); the generated waveform can be easily identified and measured. If still in doubt or denial, look it up on t'web for other explanations. Nice try, though, I'll give you that.
  5. For my part, it's not a question of musicianship. I'll be the first to agree that BR was a great musician. It's only personal taste, with music as with much else, I tend to connect better with sobriety. There are a great many artists, of all and every ilk, that I applaud for their contribution to their art, but wouldn't consider for my own consumption. I'm not denigrating his playing; just saying that I don't rate it above others, as a personal choice.
  6. ? ? ? A new one on me. What amp/guitar would that be, then..?
  7. [Pedantry] For a guitar, that should rather read 'Output', I think..? [/Pedantry]
  8. Mussolini was followed and revered by many at one point, too.
  9. Yeah, he nicked all my best lines, the scallywag.
  10. Yes, I use it for Normalising, rough and ready chopping of heads and tails, and quick and dirty fade-outs. All my ISIHAC files have been doctored in this way. Very efficient, once one has the work-flow sorted. I use Reaper for most everything else, though.
  11. I'm having trouble with this. Am I to understand that you're alluding to the use of... tea bags..?
  12. Aha..! You're a poet, but just didn't ... realise it.
  13. Sorry, poor punctuation. Fixed.
  14. Yes, I agree; there are sources that take a different approach. I don't hold with their views, that's all. We are all free to choose who to give credence to; I've chosen the '3' camp. My 'analogy' was only relevant to the subject in the sense that definitions are, by definition, defining something. If a triangle (for instance...) is 'defined' as having three sides, then that's the end of the matter, and questioning 'why' is somewhat futile. In the same way, if one 'defines' chords as having 3 or more notes (as I do, along with others...), then that bears little discussion. It's a definition, not an explanation. It's true, I could have chosen any number of 'defining' examples; I chose a triangle.
  15. Sugar..? In tea..? Heresy..!
  16. Thank you for playing. Please come again.
  17. 2 metres wide..? I'm triple-XL, but that's enormous..!
  18. Personally, I'd say 'Both'. I'm not expert in the private lives of folks in general, and tittle-tattle is not a reliable source for judging people at all, but the tales told and some videos don't do much to make the bloke sympathetic to me. His playing is equally somewhat bereft of humility, for the most part. As I posted above, he was a brilliant showman, and a virtuoso drummer; there's no denying that. Would I go to see him play 'live', even in his prime..? No, I wouldn't. My loss, quite likely, but I'd rather stay at home and listen to Spencer Dryden, Dave Mattacks or Joe Morello. A question of taste, that's all.
  19. You've seen me (trying to...) carry trays of mugs of tea, then..!
  20. In most dictionaries, for instance... Definition of a 'chord' in music ... ... and in many music theory sources ... Chords defined ... Although I could have referenced several that allow two notes as chords, too. Choose your camp..? It's quite rare for an analogy to hold true in every respect, being a comparison of similar features, but not implying they be identical. How many bristles are need to define a toothbrush as a toothbrush before it gets so bald as to no longer count as one..? Hmm...
  21. Does it work any better from outside the cave..? ... ...
