I wrote a book about being in a covers band
... Also I've been writing this book...
And jolly good it is, too..! An avid read, with some deliciously quotable 'throw-away' lines ("... as Silvia clamped the old-fashioned mincer into place on the kitchen worktop.", "That smug-faced young moron in his ear defenders would look a whole lot better with an arrow through one of his hands." or "...nearly jumped out of her skin as the Walking Dead-Cow suddenly veered into sight around a corner."). The book suffers from its own strengths in that, being a genuine page-turner, one is almost certain to quaff it in mighty draughts. It is not going to last a fortnight on the beach; its two-hundred pages will be spent promptly, such is the pace of the racy rocambolesque romp, with twists and turns galore. A tragicomedy, if not black humour, at least dark grey, the events painted however with a light touch belaying the more sombre undertones. Quaint but incredibly credible characters (we all know many of them from our own entourage...) pop in and out of the chapters, as large as life, portrayed in deft strokes guided by fine observation. The storyline is captivating, the plot thickens like quick-drying cement, delightfully binding our attention and drawing the author's emprise ever tighter. 'The Craft Room'..? A crafty, well-crafted craft in which we're willing to peregrinate, to explore, eager to learn the denouement. My thumb is up; this is a Good Read. -

Opinions/advice on our bands confederate flags please
The Feral Irishman's willingness to refer to a specific historical battle won by King Arthur, does not bode well for the accuracy of the rest of the article.
Well spotted. It's well known, the current divide in the UK between the Celts and the Vikings. Some folks have very long memories. -
... Any ideas? ...
I've had a quick look through, I can't see such a topic. Can you say what date it was posted, please..? That might help.
More details, it's out...
Too early for a full review, and I wouldn't want to spoil the ending, anyway, but I've received my copy, and a cursory glance through the opening pages confirms my suspicions: this is going to be another Good Read. Delivered promptly (to France...) in discreet brown wrappings (well, an Amazon cardboard envelope, really...), with just a hint of excess glue on the edges of the Page 4 (quickly and easily removed...), I've now got several sessions of perusal before me, poring over the pages, absorbing the imaginary portrayal of these fictional (ah, but are they..?) characters, with their foibles, idiosyncrasies, quirks and eccentricities, often more true to life than life itself. Now then, where did I put my specs, eh..? What..? On my nose..? Ah yes; as always. Cheers. -
A huge part of scouting out a new band is having a good understanding of your local market. Some folks live in areas where opportunities for working bands are practically non-existent....
Indeed; not much work for the farriers in Central Manchester. Either go where the opportunities exist, or change horses, maybe..? No point flogging a dead horse.
... Never made a bad decision about anything in your life? Everyone has.
Indeed, yes, and pay the consequences of that. T'will doubtless happen again before I peg out, and I'll assume that, too. Not sure about the 'negligent' part, though; that's not part of my psyché. I would claim to be perfect if it wasn't for my excessive modesty. ...
nothing like a bit of confidence, but mainly it's good that they were honest, and you should be glad that he told you before you'd hired a studio...the amount of singers I've auditioned that have no experience, don't think they need to bother learning the songs and can't actually hold a tune...
You've auditioned Neil Young..?

I'm in the lucky position of having virtually no assets of marketable value; even to the point of owning duff kidneys and poor eyesight. Good luck squeezing pips out of this lemon..! To me, this is all the more reason to be extra careful in one's daily activities. Because of this vulnerability, my conscience prevents me from being wilfully negligent and causing harm to others, so claims for responsibility would not arise. An accident, on the other hand, is just that: an accident, and should not be the subject of a claim for anything. To paraphrase: 'stuff' happens. That's Life, and should not become fodder for leeches. I have the same outlook concerning 'stuff' that I suffer. If it's someone's fault, redress could be due. If it's not, then it's not. That's Life.
