1.
Bit of an odd thing to say... You could say that just about any piece of equipment on stage... pedal boards, basses, speakers getting knocked over... having any gear on stage, if expensive is a downside? It kind of goes with the territory?
Bit of an odd thing to say, too, maybe..? Shure SM58 sells for £95 or thereabouts. Some folks buy Bentleys, others Ford Fiestas. Heil are excellent mics, but they are more expensive than the more common Shure offerings. Worth the difference..? Yes, of course, to some. Not to all, though. Just sayin'.
 2. The only real downside of the Heil mics is their cost. Not a mic one would want beer spat into, dropping on the floor or doing a Daltrey swing. Best as a personal mic for a singer who wants good gear and will look after it. The PR35 recommended here, for instance, sells for £260 or so. A good investment, not to be wasted on just any ol' singer; avoid letting the evening's MC take it for calling the sweepstake winners.
 3. One shouldn't neglect the budget considerations (the expense of the new PA rigs, with either top wedges or decent IEM for the whole band is not cheap at all...), and the bands that play at venues that already have PA, but not equipped for these new technologies. I don't know how it works out in the UK now, but here in France, I've always found it to be rare that the PA is capable of rendering backline redundant, even on medium festival stages. Top-flight venues, or autonomous bands with cash available to them, I'd agree it's the way to go, but that's far from everyone, I reckon. 'Twill come, surely, but needs another decade or so, maybe..? We've already come a long way since '17 Watts', just the same; a bit more patience, perhaps..?
 4.
...please support a fellow BC’er and vote...
Looking through the rules, it states that the vote count won't be used for judging in the end; it's The Man Himself who'll choose, based only on musicality. I suppose it can't hurt having lots of votes, of course. No, I've not a FBook account, so can't oblige, anyway. As to the mix... Smooth, no 'glitches'. It's out of my 'favourite listening' scale of reference, of course, but respects the genre. The bass a bit 'busy' at times, and I always find snappy snares tiring quite quickly. Frankly, I preferred the original except for the overpowering bass drum, which must physically hurt on a dance floor. No, a good mix (bonus points for the short break, which gives some respite from the infernal 'pressure' built in...), but I won't be putting it in the car for driving to. R4 it ain't. Good luck, and well done for trying, whatever the outcome.
 5.
My apologies, to who it may concern.
Perfectly unacceptable. 'To whom it may concern'..! ...
... I'd be happy to drive down and might have an amp and cab you could use too. Not the best of gear but it might help you out and when you get back on your feet give me a shout and i'll come down and pick it back up again...
Lanark - Cheltenham, there and back (twice..?)..! Surely the stuff of heroes..! Medals deserved simply for offering, I say. It doesn't get much better than that. Good man, that fellow. Hat duly doffed.
 6.
...giant golden sprouting broccoli inspired...
Go for it..!
 7.
I've had a more polished version...
Jolly good. The early version was fine, but this is a definite improvement; all is 'tied together' coherently, with a fine build-up and crescendo. Good stuff; a thoroughly enjoyable listen. My thumb is up.
 8.
Looks like I will be looking elsewhere...
More modest, but free (only requires giving an email address, but non-invasive...), here's a few decent Vst instruments... Alpine Project ... Here's another Vst with ochestral sounds ... DSK Virtuoso ... That'll get you started. A search for 'free Vst instruments' will bring up a bewildering array of all sorts; hours of fun, but some deceptions, too. DSK have a pretty extensive range of other genres, too; well worth a look, I reckon.
 9. Well pleased to see 24 voters..! Someone must be doing something right. Good stuff from all (yes, even Lenny, albeit grudgingly... ). And the picture for April is... (Bearing in mind today's date, I'm apprehensive ...)
 10. And the winner is... SH73..! [sharedmedia=core:attachments:167486] Here, then, is your Winner's Certificate (download and save as pdf file, then proudly print and frame...) ... ... which looks like this (but bigger, of course..!)...
 11. The Winner's Certificate is going to look even odder than usual later on this evening, I fear. No voters left to break the deadlock..? No..? Oh well, small fonts time (sigh..!).
 12.
I'm just curious...
You've not got the full picture; there were other issues with that thread. Thanks for supporting the Mods, though; it's not always easy to take these decisions. This topic, in its turn, will now be locked, hoping that curiosity has been satisfied.
 13.
Just busy doing other things...
Cheers, thanks for replying. .. (Getting old, it would seem; needs to get out and rave more... )
 14.
That's greedy. You can't vote for yourself and three others as well.

voted for mine...
To be understood as 'mine' = 'my favourite three'.
 15.
Dad...
16. ... and voted. Tough choice, as ever. There's some good stuff there (and then there's Lenny's tune, of course ...). Well done, folks.
 17.
Eek! I was only kidding! At least there's plenty to criticize, so sharpen your teeth...
Be careful what you wish for, lest it come true.
 18.
I am not getting to these lately, I am afraid.
You wouldn't care to expand on that, by any chance..? A bit cryptic for an old beggar such as I, and I'd be interested to have any ambiguity resolved.
 19.
Exotic tree's
Exotic tree's what, exactly..? Please finish your sentences.
 20.
...you could retrospectively do all mine...
I'll do that, an 'MBA Special'. I've given 'em a short listen just now, and they're worthy of comment. Not this week (our daughter and grandson are coming over for a week's visit...), but it'll maybe help me get back in the saddle. Coming soon, then...
