In any context when someone says money doesn't matter, yes it's very hard to understand. Keep in mind, I'm a Yankee. We're a society that's really weird[s] when it comes to money[/s]. Blue
Fixed. ...

I wrote a book about being in a covers band

One is winging its way towards me as I type. Will report back after reading it. -

A darned-heavy 2 x 15 HH here in Lower Normandy, if you're really stuck, or an Ampeg 4 x 10, or Fender 2 x 15 (... but you'd have to be really stuffed for it to be worth the trip..! Still, you're welcome to borrow 'em, just the same... ) . Looks like you'll get something sorted, so well done, all.
It's a weird one. Yesterday I described why I didn't like a particular Jaco Pistorius bass part, and was called "ignorant". I didn't comment on the man, or the rest of his work, but apparently having an opinion makes me ignorant. Oh well.
Not quite fair, I'd say; the exact post in question was 'Ignorant, ', as a sly dig in the ribs, not an overt insult. It was referring to a previous little spat over definitions. No malice was intended. Just sayin'.
Oh I dunno you know. I do like a bit of Trout.
I share your culinary tastes, but never tire of the 9th, personally. S'all good, really.
... 50's STYLE dad, I know you're a drummer but try to pay attention ...
If you've not already read it (and it would seem not...), could I suggest a perusal of Mo Foster's excellent book '17 Watts?: First 20 Years of British Rock Guitar, the Musicians and Their Stories'. You may not be so keen on a '50s STYLE bass after that..! Hofner 500/5, maybe..?
No Jazzes in the 50's Tom ...
Surely this merits more explanation..? What '50s amp are you using for this new venture..? And what 'period' strings..? I'm glad I'm a drummer; would't want to have to play on a '50s kit..! Are your band mates equally as zealous as you, or are they a sensible lot..? This forum would be the poorer without these topics, though..!
Yes, brilliant. I presume you have heard the live Orchestral album ? Vince Mendoza and his terrific arrangements. Personally I only stumbled upon it last year. Not sure how I missed it to be honest. Sublime version of 'Hejira'
Well, in my own humble opinion, it doesn't get any better than this on this planet, 'between the forceps and the stone'. The very definition of 'sublime'. There are, all through JM's long and fruitful career, so many pure gems; several of them are graced with a contribution from JP. Look, it's no exaggeration to say that it's even better than the Grateful Dead, and even Schubert..! There, I've said it..!
"Digital" and "tape" are two words that should have never gone together ever.
Oh, I dunno; they kept me in good work for a while...
Now hang on a minute. If it weren't for tape (paper tape at that), how else would programmers do their voodoo back in the day? Would you have them revert to cards?
One did not exclude the other. Sometimes, the cards were punched by hand..!
Yous guys don't have Hot Dogs? Blue
This is a 'guy' (Penny for the Guy..? Remember, Remember, the 5th of November...) ... I'm much more used to 'blokes', 'fellows', 'chums' and, in some circumstances, 'mates'. There was a personality a while back whose catch phrase included 'Guys an' Gals'... He is little quoted nowadays, and looked upon with disfavour. Do we have hot dogs..? Some would maybe admit to such, but probably mask the 'taste' with brown sauce.

So, your EDM-polluted neural system has not been able to unravel the encrypted messages in there..? Far from being meaningless or empty, there are musical clues throughout. One can even dance to it in several different rhythms without breaking a leg (or into a sweat..!). This is, essentially, very old musical forms brought up to date simply by the use of more modern sounds. The structure is, well, not exactly antediluvian, but certainly centuries old. Yes, even older than I, if that's not too difficult to imagine. Glad it struck a chord, though; you're making progress too, it would appear. (Yes, but is it Jazz..? Hmm... hardly, old fruit; hardly... )
Wonder if any of you have any advice... ...
Slow it all down. Try half-tempo, or even less. Sing (yes, in slow motion..!) and play; if it still doesn't work, slow down further. Gradually (over the course of a couple of weeks, for instance..?) bring the speed up. Guaranteed; cannot fail. Going slowly is the fastest way to get up to speed. Try it..?
And me too. I can't justify this technically but it just seems to make sense. Fifty years for me too.
I concur with all these [s]old folks[/s] seniors (well, I would, wouldn't I..?), although, here in [s]the real world[/s] Europe, there are no fuses in these leads, so it's all a bit dumb as a debating subject, really. The leads don't often explode or catch fire over here; I must have handled thousands of 'em over the decades. Ne'er a jot of trouble with 'em regarding fuses.

I use a Boss Fender Deluxe pedal (FDR-1...) for this. No longer sold, it seems, but can be found on t'bay ... Just sayin'; hope this helps.
