I can play a solo flawlessly; by definition, there's no-one around to keep time with. Keeping a solo in time is not that easy. An exercise, to illustrate..? Listen to the original 'Take Five', with Joe Morello on drums. Count, mentally, the 5/4 before he starts the solo, and keep the count going as he plays. You'll find that, throughout, he's spot on, and comes back in exactly 'on the beat'. Impressive stuff.

Humble apologies, mea culpa. I'd put it down to old age, but I've always been scatterbrained, so...

It's a shame, but HJ is right ^ . A drummer (or any other musician, really...) trying to play above their level of competence cannot be reigned in on the spot. They have to go back to their rudiments and get them down 'pat' first, and gradually hone their skills. You put up and shut up, or walk, unfortunately. If these really are buddies, recording the session and performing a 'post mortem' is a good way forward, at least to get the problem recognised as such. There is no rapid cure, though, so the repertoire that they're bashing out with such enthusiasm will take a hit. Will they support playing 4/4 to a metronome for a few weeks..? Maybe, maybe not. Are there no drum teachers in the vicinity..?
...What does programme mean?
Oh dear. I hear another can of worms creaking open. This Sales topic is not the best place for the long answer; ask the same question in 'General Discussion' for more detail. Suffice it to say, here, that you're right; 250w would be a more 'standard' rating (for all that wattage alone means anything at all, anyway...).
It's a GK Backline 600 head going thru a BLX 410 and a BLX 210. I've been told that it's possibly a ground loop issue. I do believe that I need a technician to come and check it out as one of the speaker inputs at the back of the head is temperamental at the best of times... requiring some wriggling of cables to get it to work!! Apart from that, it's a lovely amp.
If the amp, on its own, with only the cabs plugged in, is making a buzzing sound, it's not a ground loop. Don't heed the sirens a'calling; take it to an amp tech and get it fixed, or at least estimated. He'll be able to fix the faulty speaker output at the same time.
Hello.. Anyone know what the deal is with eliminating that f@@king amp buzz? I know there's always gonna be some but this is pretty severe. I've unplugged the bass. I've checked the cables. I've had my head melted by watching people explaining it on YouTube. Went to Maplin today and was sold some ferrite cable clips. Still got buzz... Please help!!!
If there's an appreciable sound from an amp that's got no cable plugged into the input, there's a very strong chance that's there's a fault inside. A decent technician will be able to diagnose the cause, in all likelihood, and suggest a remedy, with an estimate of cost. Tell us a bit more about yourself (what make / model of amp, where abouts are you, is this at home or on stage etc ..?) and you'll doubtless get some good advice as to the way forward. Over to you ...

Can I make a bound, block inlay neck fretless?
...am worried about the tone while sliding on the fingerboard. Am guessing the tone might change when the string over the wood vs. over the block inlay.
Not that human ears can perceive. Bassists' ears, possibly (but doubtful for most...); human ears, definitely not. -

Indeed, as a novelty effect, used (very...) sparingly, there is much to be said for a bit of 'trash' in a kit; some 'musical' genres even rely on it..! To me, the hi-hat is the king-pin of a kit; any lack of quality in that instrument will become sharply apparent, as (in the styles I tend to play...) it's insidiously omnipresent. One can adjust a snare by tuning, dampening (the old 'fat wallet' trick...) or changing heads; toms, too, can be treated for different sounds. Cymbals are very difficult to (successfully...) modify; they're good or not. Good hi-hats can make a kit. A poor pair will ruin any kit. (... but what would I know..? I'm only a drummer... ) -
It's been mentioned above, but doesn't do full justice to his efforts; I'll repair that now. I've just received a hard-cover book bought from Aidan. It was wrapped and packed as though made of finest bone china; had it been, it would surely have arrived in pristine condition, too..! This fellow knows a thing or three about sending things through the post..! Chapeau bas, mon ami. An effortless transaction from a very nice bloke to deal with. I certainly wouldn't hesitate in future affairs, and wish all were of this calibre. Thanks a bunch, old fruit.
I've just informed my drummer.. Waiting a reply..
Make sure that he knows that these are not the modern, brash, brass '101's, but the original nickel-silver ones, from the very late '70s. Not the same musicality at all (although I suppose there may be some drummers deaf enough to not be troubled by raw brass... ). Entry-level, but decent-sounding (otherwise why would I want 'em at all..? ). Just sayin'. -
... It's surprising how quickly humans adjust to stuff.
Humans, maybe, but bassists..?

One should choose wisely, however. There are pianos with cr*p wood, too; some diseased, even. Not all, of course, but I spent a few years importing old pianos into France, and many were only fit for firewood, or less. Just sayin'.
I'm using an iPad and an apple browser. Does that explain the lack of name?
I don't know, as I use a PC..! Someone, however, will be able to answer more fully given this new information. A bit of patience; we're nearly there. I'll 'push' this up to Mod visibility...
... I put a 15" with 2x10s and it was quieter than the 15" and the 2x10 individually...
Is that not the typical symptom of the cabs being out of phase..? Was there another explanation, or none at all..?
Thanks for the guidance but I can find nowhere where the name appears ion the right.
It may help if you state which device, which OS, which browser you're using..? Sometimes (not always, but sometimes...) it makes a difference. Just sayin'.

Felt or any other soft cloth, such as a hair ribbon..? Try your local haberdashery, see what they can show you. Corduroy..? Baize..? I don't think the actual grade of felt is the critical part. Try it out with a folded hanky, first..? I doubt that Ms King used anything rare or difficult; more probably whatever came first to hand. It's all in the fingers, anyway..!

If that's the only factor, then I'd take the RCA route, mostly because it leaves the future open, as RCA gear is rife. Unless you can convince yourself that you can actually hear an improved (or less degraded..?) signal with the Cirrus Logic DAC over the Burrs-Brown, and that this difference is worth £100..? Only you can really call that, of course, but I wouldn't bet on my old ears picking up anything different between 'em. Not helping much, eh..?
