  1. [quote name='BasicBird' timestamp='1464509584' post='3059873'] My bass cab has removable whees. why ?... [/quote] Some manufacturers provide for those wishing to stack cabs, one on top of t'other, and, as it's not much more bother than having fixed castors, allow the option of removing them. Is there a sonic advantage, with or without..? No; none at all. Keep the benefit of portability and retain the wheels. In some cases, I've removed castors when filling a tour bus chock-a-block; the castors took up space I needed. A rather rare case, however. I keep mine on, all of the time, now (I've a bigger van... ) Edit: I remember a sloping stage, once, which was 'fun', chasing after all the wheeled gear. They're not all brakeable, y'know..!
  2. [sharedmedia=core:attachments:167485] When you win the Lottery, you'll be able to afford decent ear protection, as well..!
  3. Thanks for the clarification; that looks to be just fine and dandy. No, you'll not need a dedicated bass amp, but be a little bit cautious in the volume levels used. Hifi gear is not as tolerant as gigging stuff when subjected to extreme playing conditions. At 'normal' domestic volume, it should be fine. That's pretty decent gear; t'would be shame to abuse it. Enjoy.
  4. You may need to be a bit more specific in how you intend to do this. Could you indicate which amp you're using, which monitors and which sub you're looking at..? Usually, they'd need to be some sort of filtration in the chain, so that the sub gets the low frequencies only. Is this part of the plan..? Simply coupling a sub, along with the present speakers, may not be at all good for the amp. More detail, please..?
  5. [quote name='Iheartreverb' timestamp='1464378832' post='3059083']... Im having trouble uploading pictures... [/quote] You might like to try this, to delete attachments no longer required, and liberate quota space..? Go to your 'My Profile' (your pseudo, top right...). Select 'Edit my Profile' (black button a bit below...). Select 'Manage Attachments' (in the list on the left...). They are listed in date order. Navigate to oldest, select those to be deleted (tick boxes on the right...). Select 'Delete Selected' (grey button at bottom right of list...). Repeat, page by page, until all unwanted attachments are deleted. Using the BBCode link supplied by an external photo account such as Imgur is a good idea; the photos are better presented and it uses no BC server space. I use Imgur (it's free...); here's what it looks like (the correct link for Basschat is in green...) ... Other image hosting sites are similar. Hope this helps...
  6. Our own PA is voice only, with a smidgen of bass drum and overhead, usually. No subs, just a pair of HK Power Works RS152X, using a 2 x 300w amp (one side FOH, t'other side a pair of monitors...). If we need more (festivals, largish outdoor stuff, biggish 'dry' venues...) we have a PA buddy who 'lends' us a d&b C7 or two, depending on the venue needs. It's good to have friends.
  7. [quote name='12stringbassist' timestamp='1464472623' post='3059749']... they just steal a piece of the market from the real thing.... [/quote] This is not necessarily true. Those buying copies (marked Fender or not...) may well not be able to afford the 'real thing', or have any number of reasons for preferring another source (Lighter..? Different colour..? 'Better' sounding..?). The sale of a copy is not, every time, a lost sale of a Fender. Sometimes, even, it can lead to a later sale of the 'real' thing. Stuff is rarely entirely black or white. Disclaimer: I'm not an believer in 'intellectual property', in any case.
  8. [quote name='ratman' timestamp='1464427344' post='3059356'] WAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! Some of his stuff leaves me a bit cold but this clip is cooking! [/quote] Indeed, except for that twerp on the almost incessant cow-bell blasting away, covering everything, including the bass. Hot stuff, though, turned on at the flick of a switch (although I suspect that there may have been some prior rehearsal...).

  10. [quote name='Mornats' timestamp='1464447221' post='3059539'] I just bought Sonic Forest... [/quote] Another Vst-whore, huh..? I'll never understand this urge to buy on impulse..! (...but I do it, just the same..! )
  11. [quote name='Ashweb' timestamp='1464447185' post='3059538']...the surprise on the front - saving the best 'till last, eh? [/quote] A hot-rod flame effect vinyl wrap, maybe..?
  12. [quote name='Meddle' timestamp='1464440346' post='3059483']... My thought is that simply you have found a means of remedying the issue just now, but it could fail again at any time because you haven't found the root cause. [/quote] I concur with our learned friend.
  13. [quote name='anzoid' timestamp='1464375813' post='3059049'] Oh, and Dad3353, do those lizards come in stereo? [/quote] Indeed they do; such perspicacity..!
  14. [quote name='ricksterphil' timestamp='1464388430' post='3059209']... Will the amp automatically detect the 4 ohm setting or do I need to put a dummy speaking in the remote speaker out? [/quote] Yes, the amp doesn't know, or care, how many speakers are connected; only the final impedance presented. Change the 'standard' speaker and the amp will 'see' 4 ohms. You should not, henceforth, connect an extension cab, as this would bring the total impedance to below 4 ohms, and most amps don't like that. It would be helpful in such questions to state exactly which amp is being discussed, so as to be as complete as possible. Hope this helps.
  15. [quote name='Kex' timestamp='1464383626' post='3059147'] Than why bother replying in the first place ! [/quote] Is this the way you always reply to those hoping to help you with a reply to your queries..? Hmm... You asked why Rics are not allowed in the Marketplace. I thought to clear that up, by supplying the reasoning. Is there anything else you're unclear about..? We wouldn't want any stone left unturned. Make the most of it, whilst I am still in a reasonably good temper; it may not last.
  16. [quote name='AndrewJordan' timestamp='1464369071' post='3058976']...three heads into the same cab with the same bass with all the inputs set to just before clipping... [/quote] The 'heavy guns' will probably weigh in to this, but I'd just like to suggest that, although pretty good, we're far from an accurate assessment of power rating here. The clipping point..? Is that going to be the same on all of these amps..? What level of distortion is being generated..? It's a fair approximation, and better than some, but I wouldn't want to draw definitive conclusions. Does it really matter that much, anyway..? The maker's claims are all very well, but the 'acid test' is whether it performs in [i]your [/i]context, [i]whatever [/i]the figures say. True, it would be nice to have some reference somewhere, and the figures should do this, but that's only a Utopian wish, really. All of this, before releasing the real dogs of war over 'core tone' and such..!
  17. [quote name='Kex' timestamp='1464366376' post='3058942'] No I did see that (hence the comment) so would seem Mr Hall has scared you, but seems he's not scary enough to worry eBay or the numerous Bass gear forums on Facebook? [/quote] This, for many of us here, is the equivalent of 'Groundhog Day'. There is no mileage left in this tack.
  18. [quote name='blue' timestamp='1464363771' post='3058890'] I've only seen that type of response with bands that are famous... [/quote] [sharedmedia=core:attachments:185803] You've not assisted at a Kiemsa concert, lad..! The fans knew more of the songs and lyrics than I did, and I was part of their crew for five years..! The 'end of a saga' concert was a right old sing-along..!
  19. [quote name='BigRedX' timestamp='1464364518' post='3058902']...a thread full of links to Basschatters original bands... [/quote] With great pleasure ... 20. [quote name='Kex' timestamp='1464357738' post='3058827'] If thats the case - why is it 'illegal' to even advertise them on here [/quote] You're new here, aren't you..? [url="http://basschat.co.uk/topic/209819-this-is-a-rickenbacker-free-marketplace/"]This is a Rickenbacker-free Marketplace...[/url] Threats of legal pursuits if a copy was pictured on the forum, and as we can't guarantee that [i]any [/i]photo is of a legit one, [i]all [/i]are banned. 21. [quote name='mrn1989' timestamp='1464361129' post='3058859']... with the direct monster...[/quote] Oh no..! Not the dreaded monster..! Better off with a monitor, such as this one..!
  22. [quote name='Lozz196' timestamp='1464267013' post='3058029'] Nah, with said drummer in question that`s how he plays, and everyone else has to turn up stoopidly loud to hear themselves. Annoying thing is, he`s such a good drummer in way of time-keeping/fills/technique - except for the volume aspect that is. [/quote] Is it not in the realms of the possible to put a muffler on the snare (and toms, too, while you're at it...). We've all seen TV shows (TOTP..?) where the drummer is thrashing away, almost silently, with discreet pads over the heads. Why are these not used more, if volume is the problem..? As a 'make do', tee-shirts or tea towels will do, but there'll be holes in 'em very quickly, as rim-shots not only cut through the mix, they also cut through the tissue..! There are several different muting systems for drums, made especially for this use, and very efficient. Can't be tried, even..? (Unless, of course, that just making a racket is the aim of all this spent energy..! )
  23. Excellent video, well performed, expertly cut. 'Like' left (a first ever, from me, for anything..!) and congratulatory comment, too. My thumb is up.
