Here is my contribution to the May 2023 Basschat Composition Challenge, illustrated with a picture chosen by NickD. An exercise in Mind Control. Listening to this track whilst looking at the picture brings about a new state of consciousness; at the fourth listening session, her eye will wink suggestively. Guaranteed; I kid you not. A pair of tanpura tracks, a pair of tabla tracks and a pair of desert voice tracks, carefully crafted to create this concert. Cockos light Fx and NY Bus compression, that's all. Thanks for listening, if you already have; if you're about to, enjoy.

There are pedal steels with BIAB (Band In A Box...), which sound fine, in various genres. If you have a chord sequence and a tempo in mind, I could create a demo for you. Here's a pedal-steel track from a song in 'G', chosen at random ... untitled.mp3 ... and the pedal steel on its own ... Django1 - Soloist Demo #4 - Ballad_Render Pedal Steel.m4a

It might look 'a bit messy' to you, but it looks very much 'par for the course' to me. If that's the only 'issue', I'd quote the old saw 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'. There will be no advantage gained from re-wiring; I don't consider solder joints to be part of an instruments value, myself, but there's no reason to touch 'em, as far as I can see. Maybe a dash of contact cleaner for the pots, whilst it's open, but that's all. Move along now; nothing to see here...

Another school day; maybe I wasn't looking hard enough. I'll just keep my Camco, though; it's done half a century of sterling work so far, and will see me out.

Strangely enough, I'm all set for drums (what with being a drummer'n'all...). I can't recall having ever seen or heard of Fender making drums, but, then again, I can't recall much at all these daze, soooooo.

Something like this, in natural maple finish and no pickguard, perhaps..?

Not the JC (that's on my 'bucket list'...); I play a vintage Hofner Verithin, hollow-body bass. We don't play 'stupid' loud (pop-rock covers such as Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Noir Désir, Bowie...) and I have no feedback issues. When playing at home, I can easily provoke splendid '60s-'70s feedback by approaching the cab, as I like those 'West Coast' tones, but it's tame enough when out in public.

Paul McCartney's original Hofner, whereabouts?

Order a Micro-USB Data cable from a reputable source (a shop that sells Boss stuff..?); send it back if it doesn't perform as required. The important part is the specification 'Micro-USB Data cable', though, and should do the job.

Useless to me, I don't read Morse.

Is a new mass-produced bass ever worth more than £1500
Dad3353 replied to Beedster's topic in General Discussion
I believe that Fender Corps employees pay for their own health insurance and pension contributions, with a '50c to the dollar' matching contribution from the Corps. I don't know if that's extremely generous in international terms; it's certainly far short of the benefits I enjoyed in almost all the French or UK companies I worked for. -
Here's what their manual says... 'Connecting to a Computer By connecting the GT-1000CORE to a computer via USB, you can do the following. USB COMPUTER port - Transmit and receive digital audio signals between the computer and the GT-1000CORE - Edit and manage patches, and display the “GT-1000CORE Parameter Guide” (PDF) on a computer using the dedicated software - Download patches from our dedicated BOSS TONE CENTRAL website http://bosstonecentral.com/ * Do not use a micro USB cable that is designed only for charging a device. Charge-only cables cannot transmit data. Installing the USB Driver You must install the USB driver before connecting to a computer. Please download the USB driver from the website shown below. Install this special driver before making a USB connection. For further details, refer to the Readme.htm file that comes with the download. http://www.boss.info/support/ The program you need to use, and the steps you need to take to install the USB driver will differ depending on your computer setup, so please carefully read and refer to the Readme.htm file that comes with the download.'

I dunno; I think I could drum that, no problem.

My ‘Only 1 Bass for 3 Months’ Challenge
Dad3353 replied to Chiliwailer's topic in General Discussion
I have several basses, including a six-string fretless, a five-string active/passive fretted, and a couple of other four-string passives at my disposal, but have been playing my Hofner Verithin almost exclusively for over a decade now. I'm not looking to recreate any particular tone or whatever; I play what the bass wants to sound like, through whatever I'm using (Hiwatt amp, Fender amp, 'puter interface etc...) and almost never with pedals. I just go with the flow, in whatever 'style' I'm inspired to attempt (mostly 'jazz' chord stuff, or chord-melody things that I make up...). I don't (read 'can't'...) play 'songs' and stuff (I used to, when I was playing bass in the band...), and have more fun now trying out different things over 'Misty', for instance. No slap, of course, but one good bass can do so much more if one takes the time, effort and patience to just get the best from that one bass. Of course it helps a little that I'm a drummer, really. -
Yes, just like me. I, too, was 'fairly young' for the first seventy years or so. I may have to re-advise soon, though.

No, a Lada 1200. Do at least try to keep up.
