  1. It's the thong; it needs to be tight, but not too tight.
  2. @kristo... I measured the Verithin bass (500/7..), and the President bass (500/5...). Both have the 'long' tailpiece, measured at 150 mm from body binding to strings. The tail plate depth, where it screws into the body, are 27mm for the Verithin (normal, as it's very thin..!), and 35mm for the President. From the pictures of the references above, I can't see any difference between the first and third except for the badge thingy on the first; the other two are definitely 'short'. I'd go for the third one (Hofner H62/32-N...) if I wanted to replace the President part; I doubt if any would fit the Verithin, but at a pinch, a 35 mm could be cut down to 27mm, as a work-around. Hope this helps; photos please, of the resulting project..?
  3. That's going to handicap her dexterity, though. Have you tried persuasion, or bribery..?
  4. I tried looking up the total number of basses that Fender have produced, and drew a blank. I expect that it'd be a far higher figure than any arrived at in this topic (other bass manufacturers are available, I'm told, making the World-Wide total even more...).
  5. I've a couple; give me a few hours to hunt down something to measure with... Knowledge base..? Not quite, but I'll measure up the basses I have. Back shortly ...
  6. There are already projects equipping the audience with ear-buds, so no PA at all. It works.
  7. This is true, of course, nowadays, with technology and materials that allow modern 'tone sculpting'. With new equipment, much more is possible, but at 'new equipment' prices. To some, it's worth it, to others (I'm one...), bass is bass is bass. I'm 'old school' (being old helps...), so the 'old' fridges give me the sounds I like. No, I don't cart them around anymore (been there, done that...), but I'm not going to invest in smaller speaker sizes just to get the same tone I like. I'm very happy with 15" bass (although I also have a 'Henry 8th' cab, with smaller cones..! It, too, weighs a ton, though..!).
  8. But at what volume level..?
  9. But I don't turn it on just because I've set it up. And at home, it's always plugged in. No, on the front, like the gentleman said. The Hiwatt way.
  10. You'll not be buying mine, lottery or no lottery..!

  12. I'm down to four drum kits, having sold a couple recently (one more is currently on offer...), plus the 'kit'n'a'half' I'm holding in store for a buddy. Basses..? Hmm... I'd have to think hard... I'd have a fairly safe guess at four, plus the baritone guitar. Speaking of which... Guitars..? No, that's too wearisome; I'd have to do the rounds of the cottage, climb stairs and poke around quite a lot. The answer would be exactly that, though : quite a lot. (spare or separate snares and cymbals don't count, do they..? Please..? )
  13. Yes, I'm like that, too. It causes issues, though; I'm a drummer. ...
  14. New York Mining Disaster 1941 - Bee Gees
  15. [Pedantry] You probably mean 'Verythin'; the Verithin is the original, vintage designation, with a completely hollow body. Both are excellent; the Verithin is becoming rare, as less than 300 were made, and many have not withstood the ravages of time. Just sayin'. [/Pedantry]
  16. Here is my contribution to the November 2022 Basschat Composition Challenge, inspired by a picture chosen by one of the previous winners: xgsjx He's still a long way from home, and the paving is slimy, slippery and dangerous. There's something stuck to his sole. If this is the Future, I'm glad I won't see it. Two MDrummer tracks for the percussion, the instruments are Alchemy synths , a guitar and a trumpet. Some treatment this time (flangers...) to get a bit more movement going, and my standard Reaper NY Glue on the Master tracks, as usual. Thanks for listening, if you already have; if you're about to, enjoy.
  17. Reassuring mostly for those ordering from Bulgaria, probably. Not much of a comparison with the UK. I order stuff in France, and have never had any issues. I'm not sure that the UK can be compared, really. Just sayin'.
  18. This may be one for @Happy Jack; a video was posted recently demonstrating what he and his band use, to great effect.
  19. Be warned that the first picture (the one you've posted...) looks to be a 'lefty' bass, whereas the other pictures show it to be 'righty'. Why this inversion, just of this picture, I can't say, but it's not a lefty. Just sayin'; if you're local to Crystal Palace it might be worth dropping in and having a look, I suppose.

  23. And the winners are ... @Nail Soup, @upside downer and @xgsjx ..! Here, then, are your Winner's Certificates (download and save as pdf file, then proudly print and frame...) ... BC_Chal_Cert_2022_10.pdf ... which look like this (but bigger, of course..!)…
