  1. Ahem... Sandy Denny..? (IMHO too, naturally...)
  2. Protect your hearing for as long as possible. Tinnitus puts paid to the luxury of Silence, for ever. As a dubious 'bonus', I now have a Dawn Chorus at Dawn, Noon, Midnight and all points west. Nowt to do about it, but if it can be staved off for as long as possible, it's worth the effort. Just sayin'.
  3. So, you're back, are you..? And where have you been all this time, eh..? Eh..? Answer me, me'lad, or... Oh, I'm sorry..! I thought it was Black Adder..! My mistake; carry on...
  4. A high respect for this outfit, and Rod in particular. I bought a drumstick bag, discounted as being 'last of series'. After payment, Rod contacted me to explain that, since recent EU changes, it would cost a fortune to send the bag from the UK to France. He suggested cancelling the order, after which he would offer the same bag again, but from his 'Etsy' outlet, which operates from within the EU, at this same reduced price, and I could buy it from there. Deal done, and the bag really is splendid (it will outlast me, and a generation more, I'd say...). Such attention to individual orders is definitely 'above and beyond', and the communications were friendly, smooth and pertinent. No hesitation in recommending them for their fine products and excellent customer service. OK, not the cheapest around, but at least worth a look if quality is of any importance.
  5. May I add the usual comment... Have you tried to play a right-handed bass at all..? Being left-handed does not automatically oblige one to use a 'lefty' instrument. Many Lefties get on perfectly well playing 'righty' instruments (guitar, bass, accordion, piano...). Half of our family are 'lefty' (Our father was a 'hard' lefty...); I have a lefty brother that took to my righty guitars, and was much better than I was, much faster. It's not the case for everyone, I know, but if you're starting from zero, it's worth at least trying a righty bass first. Just my tuppence-worth.
  6. I'll freely admit to not seeing, or hearing, the interest. The expression 'Money for old rope' comes to mind. I deliberately had a go at listening to the clip above, and gave it much longer than usual, but abandoned just the same at five minutes. Good luck to 'em, but it's not for me. One group, long gone now, did a similar thing, but well : Meï Teï Shô. (No female bassist, but good stuff despite that...)
  7. Is it the same for violinists, or harpists..? They, too, are musicians. Should singers be considered musicians, too..? If only bass has a male bias that would surprise me. Personally, I think that it's just a matter of individuals (male or female...) wanting to play the instrument they play (or singers, to sing...). I'm just Occam's Razor simple, though.
  8. Well, it worked OK for one of the Gallaghers.
  9. 'Report' button is your friend. I've been busy with it of late. Try it, maybe..?

  11. Hmm... It loses a little something in translation, I feel.
  12. A tough one, that. Princes Risborough don't allow portacabins in their compounds any more.
  13. Are they the ones singing about coin-collecting..? ...
  14. Aldous Huxley plays bass..? Or are you confusing him with Ashley Hutchings..?
