  1. And the winner is... @skankdelvar ..! https://i.imgur.com/x93SDBh.gif Here, then, is your Winner's Certificate (download and save as pdf file, then proudly print and frame...) ... BC_Chal_Cert_2022_03.pdf ... which looks like this (but bigger, of course..!)...
  2. In one of your dozen dreams, maybe..?
  3. 55 watts, maybe, but 55 Ampeg Valve watts..! In any decent cab, this is plenty enough for gigging, in any band configuration (well, maybe not stadium thrash metal...). I have the Fender equivalent of this (Bassman 50 Export...), which handles outdoor gigs with ease. You'll have to turn it down in most pub environments. Not that it's stupidly loud, but this rating cannot be compared to modern solid state amps. It's certainly not a bedroom amp..! Just sayin'; good luck with the sale.
  4. This wire is to electrically connect the bridge (and thus the strings...) to earth, to reduce buzzing from radio interference. It doesn't need to be soldered to the underside of the bridge, as the bridge being screwed down will hold it in place. A length of the plastic sheathing should be stripped away, to allow contact between the bridge metal and the copper wire inside. The other end of the wire has to be connected to earth in some way. One common method is to solder this end to the casing of a potentiometer. The 'earth' tag on the output jack socket is another option (be sure that it's the earth tag, and not the signal tag, of course...). Sometimes, copper shielding is present in the control cavity; in this case, the bridge wire can be connected to this shielding. Hope this helps.

    Nought to see here...
  6. Shouldn't the bass be from the same manufacturer as the amp and cab(s...) too, then..? And don't Fender pedal pedals, too..? They used to make PA systems; not Shure about microphones, though...
  7. Does 'looping' not count as 'live' then..? How about delay, is that 'live'..? S'not as if there's a backing track. (Disclaimer: I know nothing of the bloke in the video; just curious as to why it doesn't count as 'live'...). Peace.
  8. Affordable..? Check. Comfortable..? Check. Long-lasting..? Check. Buy. Red, blue or gold lamé..? Not fussed if the first boxes are ticked. No-one's looking at me anyway, and I don't see myself either, so...

Works well with air guitar, too.

Is two weeks or so too long to wait, then..?
  11. Try 3M Dual-Lock..? It's darned robust, and very unlikely to 'wobble'.
  12. Could it be the frequency of the note itself causing this, with a 'resonance' provoking excess string excursion..? Easily tested, perhaps, by tuning down the whole bass a tone, and seeing if the 'buzz' occurs at the same spot..? Just a thought.
  13. Ah, but therein lies the very heart of the Challenge..! ...
  14. Accent on the 'can be'. No, it's not always more people, but in the context of what I wrote, it is more people. Nothing wrong with that, either, but it needs to be recognised, when put in the context of performing/gigging etc. Playing to lots of folks a lot means systematically a certain common denominator. Playing to a niche has less of this 'mass effect' but, by definition, is a lower audience, in numbers.
  15. I, and several others, have been writing new, original material on a monthly basis for several years now. These works have been readily and freely available to any and all BC members (and, indeed, passing non-members, too...) in our Composition Challenge topic. Each month a 'winner' is decided by vox populis (a vote from anyone who cares to...), and a theme for the next month's challenge is published, and we start again. Some (no, 'many', if not 'most'...) of the works are excellent (OK, a few duds here and there; I apoligise for those...), and variety is always to the fore. Typically, we see, month after month, year after year, the votes cast are by the composers themselves; it is quite clear that the vast majority of BC members do not listen to any of the stuff, still less give their opinion. Their loss, in my view, but I would say that, wouldn't I..? My point is that there is fine music being presented all the time, but not many, even among musicians, are willing to pick up on it. There is fine writing talent for all genres, but no motor for it to go 'main stream'. There are many splendid restaurants, at all price points, but 'junk fast food' is the preferred choice of the masses, apparently. It's a personal choice whether one wishes to panda to this, or carve a different route, swimming against the tide, in full knowledge that the satisfactions are very different. Gigging..? Been there, done that. Would I do it again..? Of course, and I still do, albeit on very rare occasions now. Disclaimer: I'm a drummer, so dispaying individual flair, originality or prowess is not an option on most circuits. If it's not a regular 'four to the floor' or waltz time, It's because it's a jazz gig, so it's ting-tinkty-ting. Drummers rarely write songs (I know that there are exceptions, of course, but they are just that: exceptions...). Music, yes, but not 'songs'.
  16. Well, then, here's a Starter for Ten... Disclaimer: The fellow has been widely acclaimed as the Inventor of Modern Classical, and probably did know a few things about Music. Please note the 'sticking tongue out' Smilie, indicating a post for Comic Effect.
  17. I dunno, Shostakovich got away with it for years, so... ...
  18. These are the original tuning pegs on my Hofner Verithin bass (my 'go-to' bass...). The bass is always in tune whenever I take it down from behind my armchair, and if I do decide to 'tweak' a little, it's no big deal. It helps, maybe, having Rotosound Tru-Bass strings fitted (not original, but on this bass for nigh-on twenty years, so nearly bedded in...). I've never had any issues with any of my other basses or guitars, either; never has any one of them been 'slipping', causing tuning problems. I can see the weight issue, at a stretch, but can't understand how a tuning peg can be a problem if the string's wound on correctly, and it's not actually broken or damaged. Maybe I've just been lucky all these decades..?
  19. My tubleweeds tumbled long ago. I have the scars to prove it.
  20. Game..? There's a game..? Oh,goody; can I be in goal..? Who's dealing..? I'll saddle the pony and splice a mainbrace or two. Don't start without me, now. Back in a jiffy... (Sounds of receding shuffling, and low 'whoops' that fade to black. Tubleweeds tumble...)
