1. Will be intrigued to see how you fret this board.
2. Great wee tale unfolding here. Post results with pics soon please.
3. I plan to give my jazz bass a respray in another colour. However I like where the paint has come off in places back to the wood underneath. If, after initial sanding, I spray the colour direct without a primer coat, will this mean the bare wood areas will remain or is this just a bad idea?
4. I started turning up for rehearsals with just a micro amp head to use as a pre-amp before going into P.A. Not a problem so far in competing with drums, guitar and two horns.
5. I have a similar small rig. Mine is an Eden wtx264 paired with a 4ohm Eden 1x12 cab. Micro amp is rated @250w and the cab 300w. I find it loud enough if I use it along with being DI'd through a P.A. Very portable. I think even a 1x10 cab could work if boosted via a DI setup.
6. I had a '78 USA Musicmaster and the original pup was a 6 pole-piece one from a strat. It was woeful. I had it replaced with a Seymour Duncan SBP-3 with 1/4" pole pieces. Just needed a little filing of the pickguard pup hole to make it fit.
7. The Bass Doc on here makes replacement pickguards. Made me a lefty faux-gold anodised one for my J bass. Give him a PM.
8. Price drop to £650 collected or can meet in Glasgow
9. Ive been veggie for 26 years can i get the gig :-)
10. First ever bass of my own was a Vantage, right-handed but all my basses were right-handed ones flipped upside down (by choice, mostly) for the first 12 years playing. Eventually, with the internet making finding gear easier, i started buying proper lefties.
11. Would be happy if Squier made lefty basses of any of their Classic Vibe range but this one would be a must have.
12. I'm really warming tp this bass. Looks very cool.
13. @blablas If you could be bothered I would spray the heafstock white and stick with the original black guard.
14. @mcarp555 That jazz bass is my year of birth. MUST RESIST :-)
15.
*Reconsiders sale of Jazz and starts looking at right-handed neck prices…*
Yeah, ditto :-)
16. Anyone noticed Rage Against The Machine bassist Tim Commerford playing this modified jazz bass? It's strung B E A D and he's stuck on a lefty neck so the B and E strings have further to travel, giving the lower strings more tension and better resonance.
17. My MIJ Fenders. 57RI P bass + 62RI Jazz bass.
18.
Hey guys, I'm having a major issue trying to replace my lefty p bass pickguard d'oh Anyone have any leads?
Quickest solution would be to contact member The Bass Doc on here. He can use your existing pickguard as a template to make a new one in a colour, ply type of your choosing at a very reasonable price.
19. I know there are online review sources for many instruments but not specifically for left-hand models. A right-hand instrument review can give a general insight but given the lack of lefties available in stores to physically play, sometimes we have to 'buy to try'. This thread can be used to help others from hands-on reviews by fellow basschatters of new and existing lefty models available. Doesn't have to be restricted to basses either. Knowledge is power!
20. Ditto. My brother's early Sabre had a ridiculously high action with high string tension. He stubbornly held on to it for a long time though as he had swapped his late 60's Jazz for it in a trade and instantly regretted it.
21. I spoke briefly with Stan when I was working at a Jazzfest. I had been expecting lots of Alembic action but was in awe of his double bass playing and told him so. "Thanks man", he said and was gone.
22. Show off your basses here or any nice ones spotted.
23. Acknowledged and thank you to all who made it possible.
24. Im a lefty who plays with the strings in reverse order, ( i.e. upside down ) so my advantage is I can try out any right-hand instrument ( to some extent at least ) by flipping it over and get an idea of tone, playability, neck-profile etc. Only downside is that lefty versions of many models are never made.
25. Sterling by Musicman SB14.
