1. My MIJ Fenders. 57RI P bass + 62RI Jazz bass.
2.
Hey guys, I'm having a major issue trying to replace my lefty p bass pickguard d'oh Anyone have any leads?
Quickest solution would be to contact member The Bass Doc on here. He can use your existing pickguard as a template to make a new one in a colour, ply type of your choosing at a very reasonable price.
3. I know there are online review sources for many instruments but not specifically for left-hand models. A right-hand instrument review can give a general insight but given the lack of lefties available in stores to physically play, sometimes we have to 'buy to try'. This thread can be used to help others from hands-on reviews by fellow basschatters of new and existing lefty models available. Doesn't have to be restricted to basses either. Knowledge is power!
4. Ditto. My brother's early Sabre had a ridiculously high action with high string tension. He stubbornly held on to it for a long time though as he had swapped his late 60's Jazz for it in a trade and instantly regretted it.
5. I spoke briefly with Stan when I was working at a Jazzfest. I had been expecting lots of Alembic action but was in awe of his double bass playing and told him so. "Thanks man", he said and was gone.
6. Show off your basses here or any nice ones spotted.
7. Acknowledged and thank you to all who made it possible.
8. Im a lefty who plays with the strings in reverse order, ( i.e. upside down ) so my advantage is I can try out any right-hand instrument ( to some extent at least ) by flipping it over and get an idea of tone, playability, neck-profile etc. Only downside is that lefty versions of many models are never made.
9. Sterling by Musicman SB14.
10. There's a whole GuitarChat section on this bass forum site. A lefty section would be just as busy given time. Im not going to mention this subject again though as people are trying to talk about other things and its getting all mixed up as there's no other place to post lefty stuff.......
11. Bought some bass knobs from Matt. Easy transaction, plenty communication. Cheers Matt.
12. Greg bought my gold pickguard. Easy-going, reliable bloke. Deal with confidence.
13. A lot of things have changed since the stricter forum rules for everyone so to single out lefties as 'abusers' is bizarre. I was one of a few asking for a new lefty thread at the time and why not? I wonder if a dedicated thread would still be up for discussion if Sir Paul McCartney were to become a member? Haha. Anyhoo....keep up the good work. It's a community and I enjoy being a member.
14. Just remember that the people running this forum DID remove the lefty thread and it wad only after protests that it and the dedicated for sale section were re-instated. I still believe this Discussion thread should be visible in main forum list and have the ability to post dedicated threads within. As Ive said previously, many topics get lost or missed unless you scour through the whole thread. Sure, its not as busy but just as important to the peeps its created for. Get it done please!
15. The lefty for sale section allows for dedicated threads. I think the ability to do same under this Discussion section would make sense as some topics or issues can get swamped by general chit-chat.
16. Well post some pics and we'll help you decide :-)
17. Nice. I'd be wanting to see which guard works best once you get it back.
18. Credit where credit's due. The boy can play but give me the tone of a beautiful double bass playing a few notes over this any day of the week. That goes for Victor Wooten too.
19. Looks even better fretless. Love the lollipop tuners too.
20. Really? That's strange. I was tempted at the time and expressed an interest and the guy suggested shipping was a possibility. Maybe he looked into it and decided it was too much hassle. Im also guessing import duty would be around £20% of insured value etc.
21.
that don't interest me Steve, reversing the bridge saddles and then the nut and still catching the knobs with my forearm
It may be a longshot Paul, but there was someone on leftybassist.com selling a mahogony SG around November time and was willing to ship from the USA. May still be available.
