1.
Really into fretless just now. Not really playing fretted much. Anyone else go through fretless phases?
I spent about 7 years only playing fretless. At the time I only had the one bass, a Steinberger L2 unlined fretless. Later band requirements and personal leanings took me elsewhere and I haven't played much fretless for 15 years. (Wish I still had the Steiny though)
2. Oh and yeah, I taught Jaco all he knew :-)
3. It's this one. Don't know if you can make out the wear around the edges. Was planning painting it black but liked the existing wear and tear and thought I could retain its character.
4. Here is my lefty P bass fitted with a righty 'flipped' gold anodised guard similar to one for sale.
5. it is single-ply with no bevelled edge so can be flipped over for a lefty. I'm a lefty and I have one 'flipped' on my 57RI. The finish is not brushed like the proper side but smooth. Still looks good though. I had bought 2 gold anodised pickguards as I had planned to get myself another lefty P but have given up trying to find one. Other things to point out are; not all the holes might line up but not an issue once fitted as cant see underneath. Also, the screw holes may require a slight counter-sink to accept the screws but if you use flat head ones prob not an issue either.
6. Just been waxed and oiled. No, not me silly, the bass! Bump, bump!
7. Great little amp this. I use mine all the time. Have a bump on me :-)
8. Just a thought. If I dont apply primer to those areas will that mean that the final respray colour won't adhere to those bits and come back off?
9. My mij jazz is quite roadworn with various exposed areas of the wood around the body. I would like to respray another colour. Is there a process that will keep all the roadworn areas after Ive applied new paint?
10. If the pickups were the proper way round there would be plenty of mids. I had a Gibson EB and the small bridge pickup gave a tight punchy tone with the neck pup giving out so much bottom end I felt it would destroy my 15" cab!
11. Selling a Fender Gold anodised pickguard. Brushed metal, single ply. Will post for an extra £3.
12. Now the real test would be to only use the one finger like the great man himself. Be interesting to see you turn your reading skills to analysing some other bassists.
13. Sting has done the right in recent years and changed the keys he sings in to suit his newer, bassier range. Either that or he tunes down a semitone.
14. Love how you matched the rear cavity and not just a plastic one. Another impeccable build. Well done!
15. Pretty bizarre looking instrument with everything offset including the frets.
16. The Jazz bass is now SOLD
17. So do I just buy standard terminal blocks, cut the wires and marry up the ends?
18. I have a 62' RI Fender Jazz with the standard 2 vol, 1 tone configuration. I would like to experiment by fitting a stack-knob plate. Is it possible to add wiring terminals to the wires coming off the control plate so I can switch back again with ease if I prefer it to the stack sound?
19. Cool look. All you need now is an orange Ford Focus ST to go to gigs in.
20. That is stunning! My own lefty white jazz 62RI MIJ is pretty roadworn and could do with a similar makeover (hint, hint) :-) I've already spoken to Kiogon about making me a lefty stack-knob control plate. Very nice job indeed.
21. Completely in awe of the craftmanship. Would love to hear what your basses sound like. Especially the steel fingerboard fretless.
