1. Excited to see this mad orange colour scheme with black hardware.
2.
Hey, that plate is absolutely lovely..... One of those would go lovely on my US STD. How much did that cost from the bass doc per chance?
Best thing to do would be to pm him for a personal quote. If you're after one exactly like mine, mention me as the cost may be the same. I sent him my original guard to work from. PM'd.
3.
Being as I started this thread and it has transformed into a celebration of Howard's work, this is what he did for me
How did he make that cushion on the left to match your bass pickguard? Did you have to send him a material sample? :-)
4.
Awesome, that looks gorgeous! They are wickid aren't they. I've just sent Horrid a drawing of my Lion Head PG for my new Jag I won at the SE Bass Bash. I can't wait! Airbrushing the black detail is going to be interesting, will have to think about how I'm going to mask it.
Love the idea. Stick it up when it's done.
5. Yep. She's a looker! Great job.
6. Just got my lefty custom-made faux brushed-gold jazz bass pickguard delivered. Made by the Bass Doc and it is excellent.
7. Just got my lefty custom-made faux brushed-gold jazz bass pickguard delivered. Made by the Bass Doc and it is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
8. John Giblin?
9. I stripped a Musicmaster a long way back using Nitromors and it was pretty straightforward. Apparently the new recipe is useless as the active ingredient has been removed. Be interesting to know if there are stronger stripping agents still available.
10. I tried using nitromors recently on my jazz mij and all it did was discolour the original finish. Could not dislodge any paint. Are there different strengths available?
11. Thumb still available after a little excursion on ebay.
12.

There is a modded lefty one of these on ebay UK at the moment so not unique but certainly unusual.
13. You can put blu-tack under the controls to fix them in the position you want. I did this with a few basses I played upside down.
14. Thanks for trade offer and I will check out the pics when you post them. Sale still preferable though.
15. Price includes UK postage.
16. Sting did favour that yellow jacket and white trouser look for a long time but if you check out the gig in Chile from that time he plays completely in black with the Steiny. Looks far cooler. Demolition Man is one of the songs I actually like to play and sing when jamming around. Good tune for guitarists to solo on.
17. The Police tribute thing has been helped by the recent reunion tour in terms of what look to go for and you dont have to be under 35 anymore. My favourite era is 1980-82 when he played his P bass, resprayed red, then switched back to his trusted J for a while before getting the Steinberger. The Synchronicity era was too glam for my liking. All big hair and big outfits.
18. My '57 RI has a Kent Armstrong fitted and its very versatile.
19. Wouldn't touch it myself but may be a nice player.
20. Sooooooo sexy! Gimme! What you mean Im a lefty? I can change!
