1. Amazing! I bet Summers himself would happily play this one. He actually used one of his CS replicas during the Police reunion tour as the original is now too fragile and valuable. I have a lefty Fender jazz body needing a refin if you do commissions?
2. I have two J basses. One is about average weight but the other is very light and hence my favourite 'go to' bass.
3. Next you'll be suggesting taking it along to one of the city centre guitar stores so I can play it.
4. More pics would be good.
5. Looks like a copy to me too.
6. Great looking and sounding bass and a very reasonable price this won't be around for long.
7.
Yeah I've just stacked mine, Fender USA 2000 Jazz (i think). I love the tonal variation with having tone control on each pick up....far superior to the one tone in my opinion. I get a lovely soul warm tone with the bridge tone rolled off but the neck tone up....yeah two tone all the way .
Liking the 'go faster' stripes too.
8.
I believe our very own Bass Doc can sort you, drop him a line.
We've spoken now. Cheers.
9. Does anyone currently have a stack knob jazz? How does it compare to the standard for tonal variation?
10. Yes Ed, that is me but I am seated in that photo! The angle also makes my Warwick Thumb look like a broadneck! I never had much issue playing my righty L2 upside down. I would just imagine that the pivot has the design it has for a reason thus the interest in owning a proper lefty.
11. If someone sells headpieces maybe someone does a lefty pivot to put on righty Steinberger? This is getting complicated, hehe.
12. Im a lefty so as you can imagine finding basses nevermind parts can be difficult. I would like to replace the pickguard on my 62 reissue jazz bass. Preferrably with the holes below front pickup for a tugbar. Anyone know where I can get one or one made that looks authentic?
13. Jazz bass porn. Ye cannae beat it!
14.
And there is a company making ambidextrous headpieces. http://www.ebay.com/...A-/121111529713 CB PS: Thought this may give you a laugh...
Those headpieces you linked to seem to have equal width spacings.
15.
now sold
If you click edit on the original post you made you can add the word SOLD to the header.
16. Actually, this is a nice looking stack knob colour combo.
17. That Pink Jazz is fab. I would love to have that technical know-how.
18. Actually the whole thing of a refin, refurb came from my brother-in-law who is a spray-painter to trade. He looked at its current finish and suggested doing something. Im hoping to rope him in to doing the priming and painting. I just do the arty stuff like colour choice and sourcing parts, haha. I imagine I will have to have a lefty mint green pickguard made too.
19. Yeah, just did a zoom in of the pic sent to me and strings wont fit in reverse. Never thought of that as my Hohner copy had no issue with this. If Im serious I could still play a righty like before. Just imagined the pivot plate would be better the correct way round.
20. I also used to own a Hohner B2A lefty Steinberger copy and I was able to reverse the strings without any alterations to the headpiece. Could someone check and see if the strings will fit in reverse order? Maybe I can talk down the price on the lefty XL2. Pic below.
21. This is how I would like it to turn out
22. This is what I have
23. It is not mint but I haven't seen many pics. A thumbrest has been fitted above and in the middle of the pickups. As I said previously, I owned a righty L2 and played that upside down but all my basses now are lefties. I guess lefty Steinbergers are rarer but I still dont think worth so much.
24.
How much is the one in Belgium? CB
Asking price is €2500 with gigbag.
25. I have to agree with @iceonaboy. I like to have bright-sounding strings for playing harmonics or a bit of slap. I also like to sound like a whooly rhinoceros from the '60's with a nice bottom! I might try picking a bespoke bass to string with flats and see how it goes while the others get their ration of roundwounds when I can afford it. I dont have overly-greasy paws but some strings do just die super-quick. I have noticed the Warwick strings on my Warwick Thumb are doing ok and its been a long while but the rotosounds on my Jazz were dull in two weeks.
