  1. I am pleased to say that a new lefty discussion thread is now active in Bass Guitars. A new LH thread is also available in the For Sale category.
  2. Hooray! A thread for lefty discussion is now active in Bass Guitars. A separate LH sale thread is active too!
  3. Thank you! Great to have this I think. Lets hope we can have some interesting conversations here. Certainly makes it easier to find other southpaws to share musings, ask particular questions and even show off instruments. I queried the Editor of Bass Player magazine recently about the lack of models being produced by bass manufacturers for lefties and he said it was a subject worthy of an article in a future issue of the mag. Are there any particular basses or models not currently lefthanded that you would like to see put in production and why?
  4. I'll leave starting forums to others more knowledgeable. Im having to access the web via my mobile at the moment and this site doesnt work so well, eg. posting images, creating posts. Lots of glitches for me using an Android phone. Are there web browsers that work more smoothly than others for accessing the forum?
  5. I look forward to visiting a new forum discussion thread for lefties soon.
  6. May I just add @icastle that the existing lefty thread did not have to be taken down. Its title could have been changed to Lefty Discussion thread, moved appropriately and lefty members could still have a place to intermingle. It wasnt just about selling basses.
  7. I think a yearly subscription is fine if it means becoming a full member with all access etc. I do think however, that to place an individual ad at £7 is steep, especially if it fails to sell and also remember that ebay have free listing weekends every month, with no sale, no fee. Im sure many will start using the ebay option for smaller item sales. In fact, many items often end up there as it is the biggest online marketplace. I think the initial proposed ad price was fair as was the free listings for lower value items. Im sure the people who run the site could have raised the rates for business ads instead. Must be many bass-related businesses willing to advertise on a busy forum like this.
  8. As long as there is an obvious thread like before, for discussion amongst lefties, minus the selling of gear, peeps can interact as before. It was great meeting other southpaws. Personally, I cant understand why the lefty thread was removed. I would have simply changed its title. Im sure something will get sorted out.
  9. I already made a post asking about a lefty thread and got no replies. There should at least be a lefty thread for general discussion. Ive given up hope.
  10. The Barras might be a good place to check out. Those evil pawn shops like Cash Converters take stolen stuff all the time. If taken to a store in Glasgow they prob wont sell it there but some other town branch. Good luck in getting them back.
  11. I have owned a '78 Fender Musicmaster and a '68 Gibson EBO. The Fender was a piece of crap and I fitted a Seymour Duncan replacement pickup to make it acceptable. I only used it in a covers band. Didnt think it good enough for anything else. On the other hand I loved the EBO and wish I still had it but lack of funds meant I needed to sell at the time to get a decent all-rounder. The EBO was pure bottom end and very muddy which meant a change in playing style to articulate the notes but the short scale was great. In fact, now I have some spare dosh burning a hole Ive been eyeing up the modern SG bass. Like others here, I dont have a problem switching between a bass like this and say, my 34" scale Warwick Thumb.
  12. Jaco had become more of a conposer and bandleader than just a bassplayer and he was composing on bass using different tunings so I could have easily seen him move on to 5+6 string basses. He was using Hartke cabs and Guild basses too. He would have eventually retired his famous jazzes.
  13. As long as the headstock shape is same as a real P bass then for "looks" why not. I had a P bass copy and fitted a Fender decal and it really looked the biz, exactly like my real P bass decal. I never tried to fool anyone it was the real deal if they asked me though. Go for it.
  14. Now that the Big Market Thread For Lefties has been closed because of new subscription rules there should begin a new lefty thread created for general discussion of all matters related to being left handed, from lack of models made by manufacturers, new instrument reviews, to high profile lefty players etc. This thread can also help direct people to instruments available elsewhere on the site and discussion of gear seen and heard across the web. What does everyone think?
  15. Please put up a homepage declaration about why you are now going to charge for marketplace ads and why you cannot just increase in-page advertising and increase rates to advertisers. This site is going to become as greedy as ebay. Yes, many are drawn to the site to look at or utilise the marketplace but thats no reason to raise money at the members' expense. Just my opinion. I'll be using leftybass.com from now on.
  16. I dont see any 'community' spirit in s psy to display website. Revenue can easily be gotten from willing advertisers. No need to introduce charges for enthusiasts. Next they will be charging per year just to be a member. Im sure rhis direction will simply have members looking elsewhere and finding other bass forums or starting their own if they have the know-how.
  17. If they expect people to pay now to sell gear on here everyone will use ebay instead as has a larger online presence. Fair enough to ask for donations but the site should be completely free. Im sure there is plenty opportunity for page advertising from all sorts of music suppliers etc.
  18. I have a '99 lefty one of these (see avatar) so have a bump on me. A great gigging & recording bass.
  19. Still cant get any photos uploaded when using my android mobile. Anyone else having this issue?
  20. If this was a lefty I would snap this up. In saying that, Im also north of the border. Bummer :-(
  21. That will make a great starter fretless for someone. Have a bump on me.
  22. I have a lefty one of these. Great bass. Ive just emailed this page on to someone Cracking road worn version too. Just strengthen those wrists dude.
  23. My P bass copy is now SOLD. Thanks for all the interest.
  24. Due to timewaster my P bass copy is still for sale. £100 posted within UK.
  25. The jazz bass pickups I was selling are now gone, thanks.
