  1. I love Pino's playing but he wasn't the right fit for The Who, both in terms of playing and his tone. What has since become apparent with Jon Button is that no one can really replace Entwistle. Button is also a square peg in a round hole IMO.
  2. Hi all The time has come to sell this beautiful Ernie Ball Music Man Darkray 4 string bass in the 'none more black!' Obsidian Black It's a Stingray Special with a Darkglass preamp, 2 band EQ with a switchable overdrive circuit. To be honest I didn't really think I would need the overdrive but it is super fun and has cool LEDs 😎 and doesn't lose any low end at all - a typical DG trait. This bass is in showroom condition bar two small marks on the headstock as pictured. There isn't one single mark or scratch anywhere else on the instrument and it could pass as new otherwise. I believe the original strings may still be on it with only a few hours' play time. Comes with official EBMM hardcase and all case candy. You don't see these for sale very often so if my pricing is well off the mark, please PM me if interested in discussing an offer. I see new examples for sale for around the £3k mark in the UK at present. I can send via insured courier and it will be very well packed in a proper guitar box. I would estimate a total cost of £60-70 for this and I'm happy to split that cost with you to ensure she arrives safely. Happy to take more hi def pics of any part of the instrument you would like to see. I have redacted the serial number in my pics (as I am conscious of my pics being used for fradulent purposes) but I'm happy to send the unredacted pics to an interested buyer. No trades please My feedback thread is here: https://tinyurl.com/acidbass Thanks for viewing! Danny
  3. Hi all Selling a brand new and unused set of these in-ear monitor buds They were supplied with a Sennheiser IEM system I bought new and I don't require them. They come with 3 x size earbuds (S, M, L) to suit your ears They retail around £63 new so I am asking £40 for these including UK postage to you! Many Thanks Danny
  4. I'm still using my own shipping methods and entering my own tracking, I am a private seller but transact quite a bit thru eBay. When did this rule come in?
  5. Hey all! Thank you for the replies - I looked into each recommendation. We have decided to buy a kit, cymbals and bass amp, and store them at a friend's house in Brussels for future trips. So all good!
  6. Hey guys I'm looking into hiring a bass amp, drum kit and cymbals in Brussels for a short tour (3 dates) in September 2025. I am sure Google will assist but I thought maybe the BC hive mind would help with a first-hand recommendation Thanks in advance Danny
  7. I have a feeling this is the reason. I noticed something similar when playing through headphones and read up about it on Neural forums - seems quite a few people have the same issue. I believe you can buy a grounded power supply for it. I now use a Cioks DC7 to power mine and haven't noticed any issues since - but still a little disappointing.
  8. I prefer Lo/High Cut block to simulate a cab, rather than a cab sim itself - it allows for a bit more flexibility of EQ I think. Usually I found an LPF frequency of around 7khz suited my style.
  9. Saw them support Metallica in Amsterdam - fantastic live band, lovely mixolydian/phrygian type rock with superb production as mentioned previously. Stone and You're To Blame are my favourites.
  10. What a lineup! Going to try and get to this one.
  11. How did EBMM finally get string alignment right after 40 years of negligence, yet persist with poor alignment on these designs? Woeful.
  12. Unsure but I'll check. I tried multiple channels within the system to no avail. Disappointing really as I had trusted Sennheiser, I owned G3 then G4 (which I still use) but bought the XSW for a touring IEM rack system. Tried most troubleshooting without success.
  13. Yes I see Mipro have a front mount antenna panel, although it looks like it supports TNC only. I can't ascertain if the digital Mipro system utililises this kind of antenna, but I'm hopeful (EDIT - just checked specs and the antenna out is TNC so all good) My idea currently is: 4U Rack Case 4 x Mipro MI-58RT 1 x Front Antenna Mount Panel. 1 x XLR Patch Bay at front for cleanliness of cabling (to link desk AUX outs to transmitter inputs)
  14. Thank you @EBS_freak and @warwickhunt - will investigate Curious as to how these systems would work with a traditional antenna splitter setup - I wonder does the fact that it's digital matter in this regard? Planning to rackmount 4 x systems with an antenna splitter/combiner and a paddle antenna or two for clarity of signal.
  15. What's the current best budget wireless option (£400-ish budget max per system?) Used a Sennheiser XSW wireless IEM system on a tour in October and also for a number of smaller gigs since, Quite disappointed with the quality compared to the G4 (which is around twice the price). The XSW suffered dropouts multiple times during every show. It seemed to be when the system was driven quite hard. For example, when I was just playing bass, it would be fine. But when I tried to sing in addition to playing bass (which is my job) the system would cut out momentarily for maybe half a second right in the middle of my part, which was hugely frustrating and offputting. I really wanted to like the XSW system as I was planning on buying 4 for my band and keeping them rackmounted with an antenna and distributor, but sadly I will have to look at other options.
  16. Definitely, the harmonies especially are easily on a par with the Beatles and I loved how they were among the first bands credited with using backing tracks live! Side note - I never really got the hype about the Stones but of course I live in a different era. Some great tunes no doubt, but their live performances from back in the day are trashy at best. I saw them live in 2010 ish and was rather underwhelmed.
  17. I really loved the 'Look Through Any Window' documentary about The Hollies which I watched randomly, and I have been a fan of the band ever since! Conversely, I watched 'When Blondie Came To Britain' which made me decide that I firmly do not like that band!
  18. Everything about this concert/era is phenomenal. Jaco's playing with Joni is how I learned to appreciate him. There's an awesome cover on Youtube that you might enjoy:
  19. I have one of these on my Rockboard Tres and it's awesome for cable management. Highly recommended!
  20. I sell quite a bit on eBay and use Evri for tracking, which eBay tracking does not support. This means that I will have to wait 14 days after an item is sold to be paid for it, making me seriously consider why I would use eBay at all.
  21. @Dood have you had to reduce the input gain of the QC significantly to ensure the signal isn't hitting the compressor too hard? I have reduced the input threshold of the 1176 hugely to ensure it doesn't overcompress, but think maybe a pad on the QC input itself might be a more appropriate way to gain stage (particularly with active basses)
  22. Been using the 1176 at the start of my chain (well, after HPF block) to smooth out the signal before it hits the OC2 block. Seems to work well, although I'm not quite sure that I'm using it correctly! The hard comp at the end is a nice idea but I'm just learning about gain staging at this point for all the different blocks, so may leave that one for the future!
  23. Fairly new QC user here - what's everyone's favourite compressor for bass? Looking for an always-on mild compression (4:1 ratio, smoothing maybe 3-4db)
