Correct, sir. Edited!

I love the La Bella Deep Talking flats. 760FS, 45 to 105. The perfect flatwound IMO - so balanced from high to low.

A quick update - I think the NYXLs are now my round of choice! Fantastic tone and feel!

I used Squier CV basses for years and was proud of the name on the headstock. Sometimes I would play at festival gigs and the soundman/other bassist would say 'wow' when they saw I was playing a Squier and not a Fender. My basses were modded to suit however with CS pickups etc, and I don't think there is really any discernible difference in tone. Essentially it's just a string vibrating within a magnetic field wired to a tone control and output jack. However, having bought a few US Fenders recently I can say that they are absolutely better instruments all round. The necks on them are superb - I love the quartersawn maple, satin finish, rolled fret edges and lightweight tuners. The hardware on a whole is much better - the bridges have channels to ground the saddles for extra stability, the pickups are great and the basses themselves feel very lightweight. Despite my stubbornness for years, I am now a convert to US Fenders

Are those Fat Fingers attached to the headstock?

Three here, plus dep work. 1. Large scale concerts and shows nationwide - mostly weekend work 2. A regular Thursday pop gig which doesn't clash with the above. 3. A bi-monthly rock band gig with friends.

Unpopular Musical Opinions: What are Yours?

Level 42 and Mark King are awful. Horrible sounding bass playing and warbly Butlins vocals. -
Does your band play your kind of music ?

Does your band play your kind of music ?

After 15 years of playing wedding cheese I started a band with a great bunch of guys to play all my favourite music from my youth etc. We do about 1 gig a month but it is the most cathartic experience every time. Wish I had done it 10 years ago! -
Alperious no doubt!

Two gigs done - I like these strings! They feel nice to play. Too early yet to decide if they will replace the Lo Rider as my round of choice but over the next few weeks I'll have a better idea.

Just fitted a set of NYXL 45-105 nickels to my trusty Jazz Bass. I've been stringing it with DR Lo Rider nickels (same gauge) for 5 or so years, interested to see how these compare. Tension wise they feel quite similar - have two gigs this coming week where I'll be using the bass, will report back!

The king of bass amps! This beauty has served me well since buying it around 5 years ago. I haven't gigged with it since before the pandemic so the time has come to find her a new home! Without a doubt one of the most musical bass amps around, no tweaking required. There's a reason you see these amps on every big stage the world over. It has been kept in a rack case from day 1. There's a few finger marks and scratches on the front panel but nothing major - the photos show it all really and it's in good condition. I should add that the amp is pictured in an old rack case - ignore the marks on it as they aren't on the amp itself! Just back from my amp tech (Tony at Amp Repairs NI) who gave it the once over and serviced the dust fans etc. These are very hard to find at the moment with Aguilar products seemingly out of stock everywhere. They retail currently at around the £3k mark if you can find them, so here's your chance to grab a real bargain at less than half the cost of a new one. I can ship this at buyer's expense - probably looking at £50+. Happy to price around for you. It'll be shipped in an old flightcase for protection and well packaged with double walled cardboard also. No trades please as I am currently buying a house and need to free up some funds! Any queries please don't hesitate to PM Happy Bassing! Danny

***PRICE DROP TO £20*** Hello all Selling this super high quality WD Music J Bass scratchplate. It was on my American Pro J Bass for about 2 hours, I removed the protective plastic so couldn't return it but it's essentially brand new. Absolutely beautiful deep celluloid tort - incredible character in the flame! 3 ply tort/parchment/black The colour is Brown Tortoiseshell but it's a little more red than the usual Fender colour, would look amazing on a Sunburst bass. Looks great in different lights, I have tried to photograph it but it's really hard to capture the depth! Cost £52.95 plus delivery at the below link - it's yours for £20 plus £3 UK postage. https://www.wdmusic.co.uk//pickguards-c62/fender-basses-c111/jazz-bass-usa-standard-c120/jazz-bass-us-standard-celluloid-brown-tortoiseshell-parchment-black-parchment-p1093/s1562 Thanks Danny
