1. What a lovely tune - only just listened to 'Heavy Weather' this week for the first time and this tune really stood out. Must learn!
2. Hi guys Have a Jazz body blank that I would like finished in a vintage white Nitro finish. Any recommendations for a UK based company who could do this? Cheers! D
3. Another proponent of higher action here. I do have a heavy touch however! Strings definitely have a bit more airtime particularly in the studio.
4. I currently use a Fender Jazz into Aguilar DB751 and DB410, or an Ibanez Promethean 2x10 mini stack if I have to carry my own gear (I know I know) I’m a big fan of not overcomplicating my setup however I will soon add a Sadowsky onboard preamp to the Jazz.
5. 2004-ish, a year or so after I started playing: Ibanez SRX500 (I used D'Addario Prosteel strings back then) Nondescript guitar cable Hartke Kickback 12 Korg Tuner
6. Jamerson Impeccable groove, placement and sense of melody in his playing.
7. Probably Sir Duke. The phrasing and swing is so hard to get. I love playing it now and use it as a warm-up song.
8. Roger Waters - Pink Floyd Chris Wolstenholme - Muse
9. I would keep the YOB, but the problem with YOB basses (particularly 70s Jazz Basses) is that there are often much better basses out there, fit and finish wise. The YOB thing can muddy the water a bit with nostalgia. Not suggesting there's anything wrong with yours of course! I'd love to own it
10. I wish they'd given it to a better player to demonstrate.
11. Stiffness and tension are probably not the same thing - flats by their nature are less pliable than rounds. Tension-wise, I find 760FLs to be somewhere between Roto Jazz 77s (very tight) and TI Jazz flats (very loose)
12. Was Michael Jackson Now Stevie Wonder!
13. Rock the Boat Jamerson on bass and that incredible F# that comes out of nowhere. What's not to like?
14. Are you planning on working as a musician? You can apply for a J1 Working Holiday 1 year Visa.
15. TI and Roto flats on my basses til they break (which did happen once!)
16. Everly Brothers - When Will I Be Loved, much better cover by someone whose name escapes me, you all know the one, it's a bit like Fleetwood Mac?
17. Hot Covers are much more robust than Roqsolid IMO.
18. Stone Roses - The Second Coming
19. I prefer passive, I get enough tone shaping options from my amp's preamp and love the simplicity of the Volume/Tone onboard setup.
20. Dark Side of the Moon See also - all other Pink Floyd
21. I'm in Las Vegas at the moment and tempted to drive to NAMM for a day - any tips? Can you buy tickets for entry at the door?
22. Precision with a pick through an all valve Ampeg stack is one of my favourite sounds!
23. You will need a Badass for some mythical extra sustain
24. Yes - owned Barefaced and an array of Class D heads in the past but was never really satisfied with the tone. Went to Aguilar lightweight and was more pleased - eventually went to Aguilar heavyweight stuff and will never go back.
