1. I've used one of the Ritter bags for 3 or so years now and it has never let me down. Not exactly sure which model it is, but it was the most expensive one in the guitar shop, with the most padding and a little velcro strap inside it to secure the neck. +1 for Ritter!
2. I've been eyeing up the USA Joe Osborn models over the last few days, but having contacted a few dealers to check their availability, it seems we in the UK are limited to Skyline models unless we import them ourselves (and suffer huge duty as a result) My wallet may well thank me though if I do go for a Skyline!
3. Hmm, I'm not sure - it looks like an SVt (perhaps even older tha 80's - 70's maybe?) but I can't find a pic of a similar Ampeg SVT anywhere to say that it's definitely the same. The casing it's in would suggest that it could be a valve amplifier either way, so it could well be a mixture of hi-tech digital with brute force analog power!
4. It's currently in my possession - few chapters left to read, and it'll be on it's way! Who's next on the list?
5. For £200, I'd most certainly be looking at the second-hand market as you'll struggle to get a good new amplifier for that cost. Perhaps a second hand Behringer stack? I owned one for a while and had no problems with it whatsoever. I also found that it had quite a usable tone for the money. Something like THIS coupled with one of THESE (if you can get one second hand, that's a new example) Hope this helps you out - there are a lot more options out there for under £200, it's just a case of keeping your eyes peeled for the right combination of value vs tone. Danny
6. I would have to say re-recording a Tenacious D track for promotional use for their next album is mine
7. Great pornography! I especially love the Fender Jazz - one of the new models is right at the top of my list to try out. Danny
8. I always get shivers down my spine when I hear that opening guitar riff, chiming on the George's 12 string. Amazing album and band, easily rates among my top three favourite Beatles albums (alongside Revolver and Beatles For Sale)
9. I'd estimate £5-600 for a straight sale. Lovely bass by the way!
10. I really enjoyed both of those videos, Michael! Fantastic band! I think I prefer the tone of your P to your J, but they both sound great! Good on you mate Danny

My Gigs

Updated with gigs for the next few months - hope to see some of you there!
12. Frampton Comes Alive is a stellar example of this - great album nonetheless!
13. I have never wanted to own a Stingray before now. That cream/shell one is DELICIOUS!
14. That would make a great t-shirt actually! If you manage to find one for sale, please let me know as I'd be interested in buying one too for kicks! Danny
15. Beautiful bass - if those parts are genuine vintage '62, it's a real steal! Best of luck with the sale! Danny
16.
getting uncontrollable wolf notes on some strings
This is a problem I've only noticed recently with my own setup. In one venue a few weeks ago, every time I played a C on the E or A strings there was this enormous swell of volume. Then, a week later, it happened with every G I played! It has certainly made me consider buying an isolation solution of some sort, but I think I'll hold off until my new amp/cab setup is secured.
17. +1 on Ashdown. I recently wrote a review of a MAG-300 4x10 combo, which I'll post on here now that it has come back into my mind! Great amps and cabs IMO! Danny
18. Moved to Amps and Cabs
19. Stunning instrument, mate!
20.
Would like to see your photo's!
Here they are sir! Couple of years ago now, so excuse the youthful vigour. Dummy XLR out, playing card inlays and everything - a painstaking replica! Sounded out of this world, think there was an 18V pre in there. It's still for sale in my local guitar shop!
21. Quickly - someone snap this up! It's a real bargain IMO, great sounding basses. LINK
22. You really must like that bassline, Michael! What is it, out of interest?
23.
Lol. A lot of John's Buzzard's had 4 control knobs, one of which was a stacked treble/bass control. Mine is one with five knobs and he got it from Status in 1998. So - there is a volume, mid range (with on/off switch), treble boost/cut, bass boost/cut and a pup pan. The other switch is for the red L.E.D's up the neck. The mid range control can be used as a volume boost or utilised to give a 'wah' effect as in the '5.15' RAH bass solo. www.Buzzardbass.com has lots of really good info on the Buzzard.....
Cheers for the info mate! I'm a JE anorak myself, but have always concentrated my affections on his earlier days (the Moon era mostly). Have a few pics of me playing a replica of the Thunderbird-style bass he used at Shepperton Studios, the famous isolated bass tracks one, if you're interested in seeing them. Danny
24.
You are right, the circuit board on the BUZZARD (sod the injunction!) is overwhelmingly good. Chris Entwistle sold the rights to Warwick so Status could not make them - and to have to destroy all that hard work must have been literally heartbreaking for Rob. He couldn't say much to me but he is happy that one of John's flock made it back to the UK and is being used for purpose rather than being stuck on a HRC wall!
Can you describe what the circuit layout is, without getting into potential libel?
