1. I think it diminishes the value to a collector, but it would probably be worth around the same for someone who was going to actually play it. I know I'd rather have frets in decent nick if I was buying a vintage bass to play regularly - surely most of us on here would feel the same?
 2. Probably '(Is This The Way To) Amarillo' by Tony Christie, or 'Angels' by Robbie Williams. I don't mind playing the first one actually, quite an interesting bassline, but the second one is just awful.
 3. Minor Pentatonic I think, although the progression is I-IV-V (blues style)
 4. I almost exclusively use Major, Minor, Pentatonic and Blues scales. Sometimes the harmonic minor when I'm feeling eastern! I very rarely stick rigidly to the notes in a given scale, however, especially when improvising. There are also a few cases in some songs where a chromatic note actually fits quite well!
 5. Second one was released in 1965 but very much in a 50's vain, Del Shannon is great!
 6.
Here's all the answers....according to this chap Endorsement secrets
I must admit - he was grinding on me a bit at the start, but he seems like a really nice guy! Great advice too
 7. In short - nope! Both cabinets are 8 ohms each, which means that your head will be capable of supplying a 4 ohm load which is 1000w according to the manual. Hope this helps Danny

 9.
Check out the DVD 'Live at Montreaux- 1982 & 1985'- two amazing SRV gigs! The band are absolutely smoking in both performances... I'm sure I'm not the only one on BC who covets Tommy's battered white Jazz Bass! Also well worth a look is 'Rory Gallagher- Live at Montreaux'- Rory's long-time bassist Gerry McAvoy could tear it up pretty well on his P-Bass, and his gurning facial expressions onstage would probably win Alex's Midget competition by a fair distance!
+1 to everything you just said, Etienne! Both of those performances are an absolute must-watch if you're a fan of blues bass playing. And that white Jazz...
 10. This is the song he means. Very Jaco-esque indeed!
 11.
Certain key changes totally wreck the feel of certain songs, as I have witnessed on many occasions.
+1 on this point. I find that 'Summer of 69' sounds totally different when my band does it in C instead of D. I generally rally to include it as little as possible because of this, which is a shame, because it's a great song in D!
 12.
We have a useful yet simultaneously unfortunate situation in that our drummer is an awesome FOH. Great in that he can point in house FOH's in the right direction and often make the process quicker and less painless, really frustrating in that we knew if he wasn't behind the kit, he'd make us sound awesome without fail
Lol, my drummer is EXACTLY the same as that actually, his dad owns one of the largest PA companies in Northern Ireland here too so it's basically in his blood. Sometimes I wonder how he'd react to his role in the band being changed
 13.

What is it with people doing that to their double basses? Imagine such cruelty!
 14.
+1 for Danny Thompson. What TONE. He did a brief solo, backing the Blind Boys of Alabama on Jools Holland which makes the hairs on my neck stand on end every time I hear it. He was also in a band called Pentangle, a top notch jazz/folk combo back in the late 60's. There was some footage of them on BBC4 recently showing yet another wonderful solo from Mr Thompson.
+1 to everything said above. I haven't seen the Blind Boys Of Alabama video, going to check it out now!
 15.
Shingai in the Noisettes uses one
Great band!
 16.
Smallest amp I've ever gigged with is the 120 watt Hartke Kickback 12 which, to be honest, did a sterling job and only struggled once when playing to around 100 people at a Christmas party at Old Trafford.
Coincidentally, this is the same amp I'd been using for gigs for the last year or so, until some reliability issues forced me to retire it unfortunately. It was a real shame, because I loved that amp! Danny
 17. After a gig I played on Saturday where I was supplied with a 15w Kustom Bass combo, I was wondering if anyone else on here has had the same painstaking experiences? It truly was hell, I couldn't hear a single note I was playing and had a total lack of confidence because of it. The guy who supplied backline was thoroughly accosted afterwards! Oh well, it was a one-hand lift I guess. Danny
 18. Very nice! Any pics of the full bass? Post in Gear Porn if you have, I'd love to see it in it's entirety. Danny
 19.
Anyway i may be stuck in the 60s/70s and 80s but i love it and i wouldnt change it for the world.
I'm exactly the same mate, even though I'm not old enough to remember any of those decades! What an era for music. That Zeppelin performance you're talking about is brill, I think that's the one where Keith Moon can be spotted in the audience. 'How Many More Times' is the epitome of coolness IMO, Jonesy is so fluid on bass, a proper inspiration.
 20. Beautiful guitar, Gareth! An absolute bargain too by the sounds of it. Danny
 21. There was a discussion about this a couple of weeks ago HERE. Some music shops don't require a receipt, as they can get a replacement cable FOC anyway by sending the faulty one back. Danny
 22. WOW I know I'll certainly be front row if they come to the UK! Danny
 23.
Anybody tried a Rode dynamic mic?
No, but if they're anything like the condensors in terms of quality, I'd go for them in a heartbeat!
 24. Shure SM58 might do in a pinch? Alternatively, check out Audix, particularly the OM2 and OM3. Hope you find the buggers who nicked your mics mate, keep your eye on your local Gumtree - you'd be surprised how stupid some criminals are. Danny
 25.
Thanks mate, fortunately they offer free delivery on the SR500L. What was the state of your bass like out of the box (action etc.)?
I don't recall being asked for any setup preferences, but the action on said bass (Ibanez SRX500) hasn't been adjusted since I first got it. Whether or not this was the part of Ibanez or GAK, I certainly don't have any complaints about it.
