I like it a lot - I bet the colour looks great under stage lights and the pickguard is a really nice shape. I had a Shuker Jazz for a while so I know it'll sound and play brilliantly. Sell me your missus - mine won't let me buy another bass and I've only got one FFS
Thanks man. Its does play well. And the wife aint bad too

Its my first exam and its at a god like grade 4 level I cant wait to get it done so I can get stuck into something a bit more challenging I'll be playing alongside Flea before I know it
Thanks fella - the top's camphor, the back and sides are ash.
Very nice indeed i'd like something similar but I'm still having fun with my Shuker and I think the wife would kill me
As promised, here's a few pics of my Shuker taken this morning with the new preamp. I bought a U Retro Deluxe and had it fitted but it sounded dreadful, turns out the bridge pup was wired out of phase. A few phone calls and 5 mins with a screwdriver fixed that and now all is tickety boo. I liked the Shuker pre that was fitted at birth but wanted a bit more versatility and this thing certainly gives me plenty of that.
Beautiful bass bud. What wood is it
Some lil Shuker vids . I've posted them elsewhere - but thought I'd plonk them on the Shuker thread too! My Shuker 7 string tuned to F#. I really like the two hand tapped bass line in this - it just rolls! My band 'Real' released an album and this was a track off it. LickLibrary.com intro video... This track, again from the album... bit of sweep tapping and other 'tasteful nonsense'!! Finally, this was recorded in 2007 and I never got round to rerecording it! It's my own mashup of Steve Vai's 'Bullwhip' and Dream Theater's 'Metropolis'
Wow dood. You must have been born with a bass in your hands

I've never really liked the look of a headless bass but that truly is something special. I bagsy first dibs if you ever fancy a change
sound clips of both my Shukers here : http://www.youtube.com/user/jtolley89
Awesome playing bud. Very cool Beautiful bass too

Here's my little slice of Shukerage I was lucky enough to receive this wicked bass as apresent from my wife for christmas. I absolutely love this bass. The first day I had it I played it for 5 hours straight and haven't really put it down since. If I ever need another bass there's only one place I'll be going BTW I love playing it so much that I get up everyday at 5 so I can play it for 2 hours before I got to work I'm only at a grade 4 level and need the practice
I'm sufficiently bored that I just programmed that into Garageband which showed that I'd only got it half right. It also enabled me to put it in standard notation to help with your sight-reading (But note that the pedal D should be played an octave lower than it is written).
Thanks again bud

Thanks boys. I'll keep plugging away at it

Hello Mart. Thanks for dead or alive by the way . Your right mate I have just started reading music and I find it helps to have the tab option to fall back on. I'll start reading the music without the tab as soon as I've sat my exam.

Thanks Mart

I stopped playing bass around 5 years ago and have recently started playing again. I'm having lessons with a local teacher and I have my first exam coming up soon at grade 4 level. My weakest area seems to be sight reading as i haven't a lot of experience with it but I'm keen to learn. So keen that I get up every morning at 5.30 to practice before work . Anyway I looking for some hints and tips on sight reading and hopefully some song sheets with both notation and tab on them Thanks in advance guys

Is it possible to play the guitar intro on the bass? I'd really love to be able to play it but dont know where to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Well Good Luck Its a nice bass I'm sure you'll sort it
Thanks bud I'll keep you posted

The reason I was asking is purely to enhance my knowledge. Thanks for all your help guys.

It happens when both sitting and standing but it only happens when I dig in on the open strings. I think its cos the nut slots are a little wide for the strings . I've got a new set of DR black beauties on the way. Hopefully they'll cure it
+1 Chris... i do like a passive bass, but the control of an active is great...depending on the bass you do tend lose a little character though... Got any pics of the Shuker then mr Evans?
I certainly have I'm not much of a photographer though
Ah right. In rather simplistic terms (I am a simplistic person after all!)... On a passive bass, all the tone control does is 'shove' some of the pup signal through an unpolarised capacitor. Signal going through that capacitor 'loses' it's treble. Therefore when you turn the tone control to 'full treble' you are getting the natural sound of the pup, and conversely - turning the tone control to 'full bass' shoves the output of the pup through a capacitor. Changing the pot to a different value would be like changing the way your car accelerator pedal works - it'll still tick over when you foot is off of it but it won't make it go any faster... if that makes any sense at all?
Makes sense to me bud. Thanks.
I guess the best question to ask at this point would be: what is it that you are trying to achieve?
Just trying to understand the workings of the bass. Not really thinking of changing anything apart from putting in a series parallel switch
