I've just got weird hearing - super sensitive to the point where it can easily become overwhelmed. It's great for recording and mixing because I can pick out all the little details but useless when walking around Toys'r'us on a Saturday afternoon. I've had all sorts of tests on my hearing because this can also affect my balance but basically it's just a peculiar "feature" of my particular hearing and I have learnt to put up with it.

I remember some "church" guy who was a regular on the news a few years ago, his name was Cardinal Sinn.

There was someone on here, a little while ago, practically giving away a Yamaha SY85. It's a few years old (quite a few actually - I used to have one about 20 years ago) but it's got great synth, piano and organ sounds on it (some really usable and quite original presets). The only thing it hasn't got built in is an arpegiator so you will have to play these yourself (if you want them) but it has got an extremely easy to use multi-track / multi-timbral sequencer that you could program some parts into if you don't fancy playing everything "live".

Queensryche became pretty poor too for the last few albums before Geoff Tate and the rest of the band parted company but I still bought the CDs in the hope that they would be better than they turned out to be.

So, based on a question in a previous thread - are there any bands and artists whose music you still buy, probably out of loyalty, even though you know it's probably not going to be very good? For me it'll probably be Depeche Mode I'm afraid - their last album to excite me was "Ultra" but I still buy every new one when it comes out just in case and each time I end up disappointed.

Don't forget that despite what you might have read, the Tone Pump pre-amp is not gain only. If by having it flat you mean that both bass and treble controls are at their minimum, then you will actually be attenuating the higher frequencies and thereby reducing its ability to "cut through".

The mix sounds pretty good too, with some nice prominent bass (and we all thought the BBC didn't do bass).

I did a JAN 1 to JAN 3 replacement on my SS1. The brass JAN 3s are very nice.
