My mobile ap was working (while the standard site was down) but now it requires me to sign in.... yeah right, I'm not typing in any login details until this thing is cleared up.

You couldn't sell many of these in East London. . .

Strings echo - has anyone else had this?

You said it's only with thus bass though. -

Aye that fixes it a bit. But try using the spell checker and it goes bonkers inserting multiple characters or removing words. Never had one problem with it back in the day... but that was before the dos attack or whatever it was that inspired the change (I can't say upgrade) in s/ware. -

If you think it might be related to your new mod double check your solder joints. Visually inspect them to see if any look duller than the rest then reheat if so. If they all look ok then you could feed a tiny bit of fresh solder into each joint to refresh it and increase their flux content. I used to have massive problems with this forum's "new" software conflicting with IE (no return key being just one of them). The admins denied any problem existed. Although after switching to Firefox for here I find most of the issues have gone away.... absolutely sucks balls via mobile still though. -
You can make a jig that trains the neck back into shape. I built mine in an afternoon. I'm on my phone just now so can't really find links for you but you can Google for plans or ideas.
Been interested in doing something like this for ages! But I just can't summon the funds. Would love a chunky P neck on a raspy Jazz body!
You'll enjoy my latest wee project the next time you visit then.

Even the best luthiers have their off-days...
No it's simply based on the principal of Occam's Razor.....
In the interest of balance and using the same principals, have we ever known Molan to exaggerate or with malice aforethought misrepresent facts on here. I certainly haven't... then again I'm not as rabid a basschatter as I used to be. He seems quite adamant over his position and claims to have unpublished info. Of course I would love to know all the juicey behind the scene bits but I find it hypocritical that we are calling for all the beef from both sides while simultaneously calling into question JC's (and to some extent Molan's) professional ethics. Who here would like their luthier to discuss in detail their private interactions? Having read JC's outburst, I'm sure he would love the details of his side of the story eloquently set out on his behalf... but would it be right to do so? Time will tell I suppose. In response to those fed up with the thread, unsubscribe. I personally enjoy daily serialisations like this - when they are kept civil, as has been. I find them pertinent to our interests and the longer they are left to mature (often a rarety on here) they go to prove how different and interesting and fallible we all are.... even world renowned luthiers. Often we come away wiser than before and as usual it's never the end of the world. -

I finally got to shake the hand that shook Leo's.... and see his very apt private licence plate. Popped in past Howard's (while hollibobing in down south) for some sundry Jap-crap odds and sods. Spent far too long yapping and had to bear the brunt of it when I finally got back in the car with Mrs angry and one very bored sproglet.... hey it was my holiday too. Great to meet you Howard. Cheers.
I must add a +1 to the beardage love. I've never seen that pickup combo on a bass either, something you found or did you decide to order it like that? Liam
I built it. -
The CNC holes are your biggest clues for MIM.

Bravo.
I don't dispute it. But every Ric I've played has been a dog, basically. If I ever get north of the border could I have a go on yours?
Yep every Ric I'd played 'til this one played like a Crufts reject too and I seriously couldn't understand (other than their iconic looks) what people saw in them or how big name players endorsed them. It would be my pleasure mate.
Rics are very much an acquired taste. One that I haven't acquired, which is why I don't have one. Not very helpful I know, but as said above perhaps 'it's not the bass you're looking for...'
This might be the case if they were all equal. When I found my holy grail (a '72 4001) it destroyed all my previous findings and preconceptions in seconds.

I get the feeling that for every fantastic Ric there are a 50 bad ones. Once you find your holy grail it's hella worth it.... the tricky part is finding it.
But is it actually neccessary? Or is it just to make a few extra quid? The reason I ask is because you said the shop had told you that a set up would be a waste of time without them. Is there a justification for it? I would have thought that a set up would be better with old strings on the basis that new strings will stretch and settle in, so a set up that suits a new set might not be right for the strings a month or two later.
It isn't necessary... but if you go and whack on some new strings a couple of weeks later then you'll need a new setup to match the new tension and neck/string interaction - even switching like for like requires a new setup. Rather that the shop being "opportunistic" (which to a point they are - it's a business after all) it actually saves you money from having to pay to set it up all over again. Of course if you plan on keeping the same strings for a long long time then it doesn't matter in the slightest. Interesting read this.

Neck lacquer chipped. Some advise please!
Ou7shined replied to Biaeothanata-Bassist's topic in Repairs and Technical
I can't really see it on my phone but it sounds like you have a plan. Check that your tinted lacquer matches the existing finish first (say on the heel where no one can see) as you don't want to go putting orange dots all over it and aim to do it in a few steps not all in one go as nitro likes to level itself out over a few minutes. -
Bought a bass body off Adam. Arrived super quick and packaged up to the nines. Great guy to deal with.

Saw something similar to this once when an internal speaker wire had flopped over and was resting on the cone.
