1. Ok guys, looks like the old ou7shined luck strikes again. On the eve of my holidays a swap deal has gone very titsup and the Ashdown gear is back on the market again. Looking for 430 for the combo and 200 for the cab + p&p. As they were "sold pending" they are both boxed up ready to ship. I am going to be abroad for the next 2 weeks so will only be able to respond if and when I find wifi spots. Apologies in advance for this. On the ferry as I write this so I hope it goes through ok.
2. I'm about to do something I've never done before. 3 gigs in one day... with 3 different bands. A half hour set with my originals band in the early evening, then an hour long set with a band we've reformed for a one off (second from last), then a 2 hour set with my trib band (headlining). The bit I'm worried about is doing the last 2 slots consecutively. I just hope I've still got some energy by the end of the night. It'll be a good little workout.
3. 200 watts ???
4. This is the kind of stuff I narrowly avoid most gigs. I love how he kicks his own ass as he goes down.
5.
Avoid the 'monitor pose'. http://www.musicplayers.com/images/john_petrucci.jpg It ain't smart, it ain't cool, and imitating this pose gives John Petrucci the legal right to sue your bollocks off.
Meh! I play better on one leg. Write your band's name (or put colour coded paint dots) on gear that might grow legs. Makes it that bit easier to retrieve. Be discerning when accepting drinks from dodgy looking strangers. You don't want to spent the rest of the night wondering why Groucho Marx's face is coming out of your monitor on octopus like tendrils.
6.
My name's Bob. I'm from Aberdeen.....
Alright another Aberdonian. That makes 4 of us now -- 16again (Davie - punk), Neepheid (Matt - ska), me (Rich - metal/rock) and your good self. What's your poison? Where do you drink Bob? We're all gonna be in Drummond's on Sunday at various points for a charity gig day. I'm the only one out of the 3 of us that'll be playing on the day though (I'll be appearing in 3 different bands, so you'll have a fair chance of catching it). If you fancy coming down wear a red carnation in your button hole and carry a copy of the Times under your right arm and we'll scope you out and buy you a pint. Alternatively look out for the guy with the massive mohawk but who looks like he should be old enough to know better - that'll be me. Welcome to the forum.
7. My theory is that if an audience sees the band getting into it then they are more likely to step up for a jiggle themselves. In my trib band the singer and lead guitar move about a lot but our rhythm is nailed to the spot. Personally I shut my eyes and freestyle like a mofo. Lots of banging, jumps and low down rawk poses - someone mentioned Flea earlier - well I'm kinda like that. I've noticed (or rather our lead guitarist did) that a few Fieldy-esque moves have worked their way into my repertoire too. Another odd thing I've noticed is that I do almost the same moves at the same points of the songs each time we play them, like I've practised it... but I haven't. In my originals band it's just me and the lead guitar that show signs of life but as it's all brand new material and way more technical than the trib stuff, I tone my lunacy down a bit.
8. Ha ha Aaaand he does it again. Well done man. One hellova crack in the horn on that Kay/Teisco btw.
9. Some dude in the Q&A bit reckons it's a Harmony built in Chicago. (?) Hope he was careful sticking it up against all that rusty agri machinery. I'll tell you what though, it never got the lacquer worn away like that by being crap to play.

11.
won't work... I've just tried steaming the labels off the few bottles I've already "collected" and they won't come off cleanly... I'll need to get unused labels from somewhere... I think there's several places on t'web that do them...
Try steeping them in really hot soapy water for a while - that's what we do with our recyclables.
12. This still for sale? Can't believe it. Have a on me for the cheapest LMII on t'interweb.
13. The Ashy gear is now sold pending. BUMP for the Laney - but I can see this going to the bay.
14. combo withdrawn... ABM 410T Cab (again as Ashdown haven't kept the links for the older models the reference link is for the newer, 650W model. This one is the same but 600w) I was set to continue using this as my main cab along with my LMII and together they sound great but a smaller, lighter cab is coming my way and sadly (g/f's rules) this one must go. Cosmetically the cab is in good nick but again there are slight signs of usage (see pics) the worst being the finger print sized dent 2/3 of the way up on one of the front edges, there are also 4 marks on top that can be seen in certain lights caused by the feet of the combo. This cab is lucky enough to have been fitted with Sica drivers which Guy Morel (Ashdown) told me personally that compared to the others were the best all round sounding 10's that they did. SOLD Laney RBH700. 165W 4ohms. It's been sitting in my box room for ages and should be getting used. Here's a pretty fair reveiw although I must add that he seems to have been unlucky as far as the problems he's reported as I've never had any technical schtuck with this amp at all. This head has been well looked after, I bought it in 2003, used it for rehearsals and a couple of gigs and then it sort of got forgotten about after a house move and spent the rest of the time boxed up. The carpeting is in great nick but the metal corners show signs of it's age. The knobs are (I think) chrome plated plastic and 2 of them are marked. There is a scuff across the rear heatsink too. I swapped out the power and comp LED's with ultra bright blue ones when I 1st got it for a bit of X factor - and must admit it works nicely. £offers Cheers for looking.
15.
I saw the feedback you left him. You were generous in the circumstances but it still said everything.
Prolonged and discourteous dispute process. Full refund eventually given. Yeah I did go easy on him. I had a couple of different versions ready but this one stuck to the facts and left personal feelings out of it.
Good result. Congratulations. Now there's only the poor guy who has now bought it.
It looks like it's a girl. I took on board what Ste said and am torn about what to do. Walk away and be happy it's over for me or burst her bubble and let her know she's probably been burned.
16.
Thanks man! Thats a great site i never knew of! Cheers!
np
17. I know it's none of my beeswax gents but I can totally recommend Interparcel. I've used them several times now and once with a 410 cab. They're fast, reliable and cheap. HTH
18. That string quartet's sweet. Where can I get me one of those?
19. Ha ha. That rope light really sets it off. I hope he wasn't a hard hitter - I can imagine that kit going for a wander during the set.
20.
Ive seen a couple of bands in Avimore. Haven't seen yours but where was this? Was it along the main road by the chip shop/Blacks etc? My GF and our kids are up in Kemnay at the moment and we used to stay in Aviemore quite a bit a few years ago.
Aye it was in Café Mambo's on the main drag - and correct, there is a chipper next door-ish. We've only played Aviemore that once. It was a bit of a shambolic gig, the drummer forgot his cymbals and as you'll know it's a fair hike back to A/deen from there so we put out an APB for a set. Someone found a single ride cymbal but the drummer refused to go on with anything less than a full kit. Eventually 2 sets turned up at the same time but by then as we'd been resigned to fact that the gig was cancelled we'd been sitting getting quietly pished in a corner. Couldn't have been too bad cos they asked us back. What were you doing up in Aviemore then? Are you a skier/boarder? Hope your family took their factor 50 with them. It's bloody 'scorchio' up here just now.
21. This is the only one I know of. A café in Aviemore last year.
22.
know how much i should get for one of these?
Found a thread on TB from last year that says they are discontinued but some were being sold new in Japan for 37500 yen.... that's 175 of your British folding
