Yeah I'm just in awe of Manring. especially this piece...

I don't know if you remember the fruit bowl on my coffee table (actually I think it's a salad bowl) looks kind like this. Well I'm looking at it and thinking that's what I'd use instead of a sweetie tin. Whack one of these on and while sticking to the ethos you elevated it's stature right off.

This ain't really my cuppa chai but I thought I'd give it a bash. There's some stuff on here that I have no connection with at all and therefore just can't listen to. I'm not even sure how to categorise it.... 80's happy clean funk jazz??? But some of it was ok, like the first track "2 Timers" it's kind of Zappa-esque. "The Gospel" sounds like it's got legs - wanted to hear more of it. I've heard "Song For My Father" before (I think Us3 used it as a sample) starts off familiar but descends into that 80's stuff that they play over Teletext at 4am. So there you go a Philistine's guide to Palmistry. p.s. I can't believe he took a credit for programming the bass drum on "Us 2".

If your song ideas are pretty much down then a good hassle free option would be to get in touch with your local practice rooms. Most have basic recording facilities. Haggle a deal (from what I've seen these guys are really flexible with their prices) then go down and knock out some kick-ass tunes. You could take your pre-recorded drum tracks with you.

I really love the song - I remember being a bit obsessed with it when I was a kid, watching the vid over and over doing PT windmills all round the livingroom. I agree the fiddle/harmonica bit does spoil it a little but I don't skip onto the next track coz it has a bit of a stomp to it.... I just hope the neighbours don't hear it and think I crossed over to country.
I have to say I would never buy anything from an Ebay listing like this. A generic pic of any old amp, not actual pictures of the item you're buying, and a description lifted from Markbass themselves or an online retailer, not an actual, detailed description of the item for sale. With this listing you've only got their word for it that it's immaculate. I'd say it was a dodgy listing from the word go. I know this isn't much help in the current situation, but for future reference it's unwise to part with that much cash on the strength of a listing like this IMHO. He sounds like a git, and for that reason alone I hope it works out for you.
You're absolutely right and normally I'd be as discerning too. However in my defence (such that it is) I'd been GASing for one of these and when one finally came up on the bay I kind of lost my head a bit. Of course I checked out his fb etc and he seemed kosher enough. I mean what could go wrong? If it turned out to be a pig all I've got to do is return it... right?
I think as well the description that the seller has lifted from the Markbass site (or wherever) is not a description of a LMII. Looks more like an SD800: e.g. 750 watts @ 4 Ohms. So that must go in your favour in a dispute, I would have thought.
Oh yeah. Well spotted. I think that I'd read the spec so many times on various sites over the days preceding the auction that I just glossed over it here. Shame I've already submitted the dispute but if I get the chance again I'll include this too. Cheers.
I'd raise an issue just on the guy's attitude alone, no one would want to be dealing with obviously nasty users like that, especially when entrusting them with a sum of money close to the £500 mark.
Absolutely.
Also weird how his items are so spaced a part, eg. most of his feedback is back from 2006.
He mentioned that he'd been travelling lately which would explain the gap. Although when I went travelling a (few years back now like) you wouldn't of lasted 5 minutes with this kind of crappy attitude.

I know you were just being devils advocate. And I appreciate what you said Dave.
If the guy described it as 'immaculate' then you have a case, as it's not immaculate - it's got scratches and dings which indicate possible rough treatment. Assuming that you've shown the guy's responses as is, it really sounds as though he's got a bad attitude and that would be enough for me to want to take him up on it. From the start he sounds as though he's just got it all wrong - particularly the bit about it being worth the wait. You've paid him a wad of cash - you shouldn't have to wait.
That's it in a nutshell really. + I've not altered anything, all the emails are just straight cut and paste in their entirety.
Its tricky i agree. ...Its quite possible that the sticker has come off ...
Possible yes but how likely? Besides he claims it never had one.
....Its not in that great a condition but again, if it was a demo model as this guy has said that could account for it being in the state its in....
True but it does'nt say ex-demo or ex-display here.
...you also have a working LMII though...
Yep I mustn't lose sight of this.
Keep us posted and good luck.
Cheers man.
They're one and the same as far as I'm concerned - I am in the middle of a goods not received dispute at the moment - started it in eBay, but now I have to go to PayPal to see the updates. I suspect that if you pay for stuff with PayPal, the dispute ends up in PayPal.
Cheers man. Good luck with yours.

Well as I thought it's turning into one of those sketchy situations I'd rather not get involved (ie confrontation). It's fairly simple as far as I'm concerned - I return it, he refunds. But the guy is just wants to be difficult about it. I don't know if he's young or just thick but one thing's for sure he's not a nice person. I didn't want to get up today as I knew it would be hassle. me
I'm sorry mate there's not much to discuss here. I'm not happy with the item. I want to return and refund. If you're gonna be difficult about this then it'll go to dispute but I don't want to go that far and I'm sure you don't want to draw too much attention to this item either. Rich
him
If that was meant to be a threat then i think you had better take it to the dispute! and whatever attention you want to draw to a legitimate item! if you wanted one brand new then you should have gone straight to the source.. you made you bid now lay in it!
I know I could live with the amp but as I said before the vibe's not right. I'm looking into the dispute process as I write this. I've definitely got a case with misrepresented goods, the stolen goods angle would be less easy to prove but surely you can't be made to accept stuff you think might be hot. Is it best to go through eBay or PayPal? EssentialTension mentioned going through eBay and/or PayPal. Is it possible to do both at the same time?

Blimey Markbass have answered my question. Go Markbass!
Dear Rich, firstly I’d like to thank you for your choice in Markbass. I’ve to confirm you that all the Markbass item leave the factory with a serial number/date label, it’s a second hand head so it’s possible that the label was removed or lost by the first owner. Best Regards, Riccardo Damiani
SUB bass - new finds in latest post
Ou7shined replied to budget bassist's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
It looks a lot nicer condition than some of the recent subs on the bay. Shame about those dings in the neck. A little remedial work would soon have them sorted though if they were a nuisance. It's a newer (2004 onwards) type if anyone that didn't know that is interested. -
a waist of his time eh! Where people thinner in his generation?
Syntax and punctuation seems to be a bit thin on the ground too. Now that I've had time to count to 10 and have a go deciphering what he's saying I'm still at a loss. I'm not going to phone him. I like to keep record of this kind of stuff. "its about doing your research" Yep I did that, that's why I wanted to buy one of these. "considering what you were prepared to pay for it my advise would be to re-sell the item" Well I pretty much paid top whack (possibly more). How is selling it on going to help? "a waist of my time as a consistent ebayer" Consistent? You've got 22 feedbacks. "but i suppose there is always one" Utter knob! Am I reading it right?

Here we go.
if you send me your telephone number so we can discuss the matter further because as far as im concerned its about doing your research considering what you were prepared to pay for it my advise would be to re-sell the item this is a waist of my time as a consistent ebayer! but i suppose there is always one!..
It does say collect in person which is a good-ish sign. I'd say he/she's simply an eBay noob and doesn't have a clue how to do the bay. If anyone is genuinely interested (you never know there might be some eccentric millionaires reading this) I'll go and view it for them.
I can't recall where I heard it, but I believe the flap folds under & the velcro is intended to stick to the fuzzy carpet on the cab & stop it slipping off.
Makes good sense although I wonder why not just use normal strips instead of big circles. Seller has been emailed about return/refund. I now await his next snappish reply.

You'd think. Out of interest, what are the 2 velcro circles on the inside of the rucksack for?
