1.
Hi there, can anyone help? I currently have an: * Ampeg SVT-6 Pro amp (with an output power rating of 1100 Watts RMS, 4 ohm load, 120VAC, 5% THD, and 750 Watts RMS, 8 ohm load, 120VAC, 5% THD - I copied and pasted this from the brochure) * Ampeg SVT-410 HLF speaker cabinet (4 ohms impedance). I'd like to add a bit more bottom-end welly to my sound. So, I thought about getting an Ampeg 1x15 speaker. However, the impedance on these in 8 ohms - which is different to my 4 ohms SVT-410 HLF. Could I use an 8 ohms Ampeg 1x15 with my 4 ohms SVT-410 HLF speaker? Or does my choice of second speaker also have to be 4 ohms? If so, I was thinking about getting another SVT-410 HLF to make the most of my amp. Or is there a better speaker cabinet for getting some trouser-flapping rumble? Thanks for your help folks - much appreciated. Steve
The minimum impedance you can present to your amp is 4-ohms. If you use an 8-ohm cab with your existing 4-ohm cab the total impednace will be 2.66-ohms which will blow the amp. If you want two cabs then they must both be 8-ohms. I'm sure this is all explained in the Wiki.
 2.
Hi I was thinking of replacing the guitar cables etc I use for my effects to rack linking with this 2 or 4 way cable from Maplins. http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Module...14&doy=15m3 This is to speed up setting up and breaking down and also clearing up the cable clutter on stage .. Does anyone use it? Is it likely to compromise my sound? Should I just invest in George L's?
I don'tthink that 4-way cable will be robust enough to stand being trampled on on-stage. How many ways do you need and how long? What would the benefit be of George L's over what you already have?
 3. You can also get Gramma Pads on Ebay I got mine from Studiospares but they don't seem to list them any more.
 4. Oh if only I had the cash i'd have that Verithin.
 5.
It must be possible to wire stacked pots with the x2 volumes on one pot and the x2 tones on the other... Yes / No? It just makes more sense to be able to turn the 2 volumes up/down simultaneously or am I the only one that uses the volume control to make 'swells'? It's the reason that I've changed v/v/t on Jazz basses in the past to v/pan/t, potentially not as versatile as a pair of independent vol but suits my playing so much more. Just an observation, not a dig at anyone else's preference.
Yes it would be easy to wire any twin pick-up bass like that. Just need pots with the right values. If you can't buy the correct stacked pots then you can make them by swapping the resistive tracks from other pots.
 6.
Thanks Greenking, I think my first move would be to check out a 2EQ and if possible, compare it against my 3EQ to see if there is any noticable difference. Then make a decision after that.
Your are very welcome to come and try my 2-band but I suggest you bring your amp as a point of reference.
 7.
I am wondering if a 2EQ Musicman is more in what I am after sound wise. Anyone got a 2EQ Stingray I can come and try and even compare to my 3EQ???
Yes.
 8. The holes in the rack-mount brackets for the Ashdown LG1000 are in the wrong place and do not meet the European standards and won't fit European racks/cases. They must have been designed in the factory in China and consequently meet the Far East/US standards.
 9.
Under 16kg... Not bad at all! With a healthy output into those cabs I can't see that lacking in any department. I realise you've not had the rig long but would you gig one cab for small venues or will it always be the pair?
I used a single UL310 for the whole of 2005 (80 gigs) and it was fine on its own and so I'll probably use just one cab. I just always fancied two of them and because of they are 5.3-ohms this is the only practical way to do it. 6string bassist wanted to get rid of a UL310 and the UL902 and so we struck a deal which included my UL502. For the local jams I'll use the Ashdown LG1000 and the two 1x12s as the stage is very, very small.
 10.
That does look tidy and as you say a reasonable weight, very nice. Just out of interest what is the combined weight of the 902, tuner and case?
15.6Kg. Even I can carry it one-handed. As well as the case, UL902 and tuner, that figure includes a 1U 13A power strip along the back and the speaker cables inside
 11. After a fair amount of selling and saving I've finally cracked it. Lightweight and wicked.

 15. Just got back home having done some Epi trading with Kevin in a Kenilworth Car Park. Bought his UL310 to pair with my recently acquired UL310 and traded my UL510 for his UL902C. Can't wait to set up the new rig of doom and try it. Amp and cab in top condition and he's a great bloke to deal with. Thanks Kev.
 16. What happened to Louie? Not heard from him in a long while.

 20. You need to decide whether you want to standardise on IEC or 13-Amp as your preferred mains connector. If you go to IEC you can get a 1U unit with plenty of outlets however it means: - you have to change the connectors on all of your mains leads o buy additional ones - you can't use 13-amp wall warts without making some IEC to 13A socket adaptors and mounting them - you can't plug anything else into it unless it has an IEC plug If you go to 13A you can get 1 1U unit with /8 outlets however it means - it sits in the back of your rack and just works - you don't have any pretty lights but you have an extra 1U in the front of rack - you can plug in wall-worts - you can plug in anything that as a UK standard mains lead
 21.
Thinking about getting one for my rack. I've checked the Samson PS10 and Furman MX-8, both quite cheap. Are they any good? Any recommendations on other models or brands? Not looking to spend a fortune though. Cheers!
Why do you think you need one?
 22.
I'd also be interested in a trade for an Epifani 502, plus a bit of cash my way...anyone fancy trading their UL502 for its bigger brother ?.
Nice thought but I think I'd be pushing my luck. How much are you talking about?
 23.
These look quite good, but I'd like something half rack size.
