When I bought this a few years ago it was advertised as having been made for Tom Hamilton. Root beer body and gold plated hardware. A couple of dings but otherwise excellent condition. It's not had a dard life and plays beautifully. Scratch plate is now back to the original black. Unfortunately I've never been able to prove it.
How much?
I can't remember what the last one went for on UK eBay but I reckon it's got to be worth £100 of anyone's money. I shall put it in my eBay shop very soon.
Looks great! Did you have to replace the pickguard to get rid of the screwholes?
yes the screw-holes, not to mention the rather large cut-out. Not Blasphemy Joe. Just personal preference.

I finally bit the bullet and took out the Dark Star and fitted a Wizard Thumper. Call me old fashioned but I must say I like the sound and it's a joy to play. A P-bass with a super-slim jazz neck, unlike my '78 P with the broom-handle jazz neck. Before After In order to give the pick-up screws somewhere to bite I had to glue in a piece of wood to fill up the extra route for the DS so no going back. Anyone want to buy a Dark Star?
Absoluetly no trades what so ever? i really really want one of these but have nothing in the way of cash. -Jake
I'm after a new bass and unfortunately the manufacturer doesn't take cabs, or anything else for that matter, in part exchange.

I've been approached by a member to supply some long mains leads. I can get some 6-metre moulded leads but like all things the more you buy the better the price and the lower the postage. Anyone interested in any at £5-each plus postage from me to you?
Dave, Whilst that twin from Maplin isn't cheap, it would make a fantastic start for the effects loop? BTW what braided sheath did you use? I can blagg Blk Nylon stuff from my dads old employer (the stuff they used to make up welding cables with- same idea different leads....) but wondered if you had some 'pretty' stuff... ? Bob.
No just the black ribbed. Alright I lied about the ribbing.
Tried OBBM?
Yes he has. Studiospares do a very acceptable Stereo Mic cable which I have used for stereo guitar leads. Also I have a drum of stereo cable with two individually screened cable inside a single round jacket. Great for stereo jack cables but no good if you want to come out to separate jacks.
Plugged my bass (P-Bass copy) into the amp on friday at band practice and it was buzzing really loudly, i could barely hear what i was playing over the noise. Eventually worked out it was the tone pot, I always have it on full but the only way to stop the noise was to turn it completely down. Had 2 gigs on the weekend where i had to play with it completely down, luckily managed to get it sounding alright by fiddling with the amp's eq. Need to fix the bass now but I'm thinking as the tone is always on full (I play punk) would it work just to wire the bass without a tone control? If so could someone please find a wiring diagram. Thanks
The best place would be the support section on www.fender.com. They have all the wiring diagrams.
So those could be wired in series to 16 ohms or 15 like what one of my simms watts pumps out. Interesting
No! The speakers are 15-ohms each and are currently wired in parallel to make a nominal 8-ohms. I'll see if I can get the back off and have a look.
What ohms is the 2x15? Cheers
Steve it says 6-ohms but Charlie Watkins was always a bit odd about these things. I haven't had the back off but I suspect that it's actually 2 x 15/16-ohm drivers in parallel. They were specified as 80-watts handling.

I've come to the decision that I don't need two 5-strings and as I will never part with my Status Stingray 5 this one has to go. Lakland Skyline Daryl Jones 5-string with maple fretboard and black scratch plate. It has Aero pick-ups, is strung with DR Lo-Riders and fitted with a J-Retro which combine to give a beautiful growly tone and a killer Low B. Virtually unblemished apart from a small knock on the end of the headstock. It has a Warwick Rockcase and comes with the original white scratch plate and a Jeanies Mirror plate as well as the fitted black one. Shaller straplock buttons are fitted and I will include the Lakland originals. Before anyone asks, I am not interested in trades so it's £850 and I would prefer collection/delivery/meet. If it has to be posted then I will get a quote for the carriage which will be extra. I shall also be advertising it in my ebay store.
