1. The HPJ is a great bass. Mine is my no.1 go to these days. It just feels and sounds right.
2. Indeed another great Bash. Nice to see so many familiar faces again. was it really a whole year since the last one. Thanks to the organising team and the presenters. Also thanks to folks who bought cables. Finally got the chance to try a BF One10, the infamous Elf and a full size Spector.
3. Your not alone Jack. Over the years I've found the same. It's a bit like getting the rest of the band to play Sweet Home Alabama correctly. Impossible. You could always ask Michael J Fox.

5. So sad to hear about this in someone still relatively young. I had the pleasure of meeting him a few times. The first was about 17 years ago when he was playing on a stand at Music Messe in Frankfurt and I was managing an adjacent stand. Needless to say I think I spent more time over there than on my own stand. I still have some recordings of his performances there. More recently he gave a Masterclass at ACM in Guildford to which I was fortunate to be invited. Such a nice guy and always a pleasure to see/watch/hear. A great advocate of music education for the young. Tragic.
Interesting about the voltage step-up used in the US. i didn't know that was done! Sounds like I needn't worry about the frequency response of the average power amp too. Good to know, thanks!
I used to be involved setting up an annual exhibition in the USA and the local electricians would give us a 220-ish volt supply derived from between 2-phases of their 3-phase supply.

10.
Why not just have it build-in the bass? It would fit the preamp chamber and all that's needed is a cab and a speakon/jack to hook up the bass to the cab! Somebody crazy enough to try this?
It'll need a 240-volt power connection and I'm not sure that I'd want to be hooked-up to the National Grid like that. Perhaps what's needed is a Beltpack Nuclear Power source.
11. As well as my own equipment I will also be bringing the usual assortment of Rock-Wire cables plus my box of slightly used Neutrik connectors which sell at at 50p each, the proceeds going to the chosen charities.
12. Is anyone bringing a BF One10? Now that Grangur has had to pull out I don't see another on the list.
13. Nik I have a very worn '73 Precision that needs a fret job and maybe some restoration work to the neck. I'd value an expert's opinion on what needs doing to it and an idea of how much it would be. If I bring it along could he have a look at it for me?
14. A heads-up for Stax night at the Proms this Friday. 10:15pm on BBC4. Line-up includes Eddie Floyd, William Bell, Sam Moore, Booker T, Steve Cropper, Tom Jones, etc. As it's Jools Holland's tribute I presume his will be the house band. I hope Mr Swift is recovered for this one. Also note that it's followed by "Hello Quo" at 11:45pm.
15. EHX Micro POG in original box with documentation. Good condition with Velcro on bottom. £115 posted
16. On 99% of bass amps and cabs all Speakons are wired the same using the 1+ and 1- terminals of either 2-pole (NL2) or 4-pole (NL4) connectors. These two types of connector are mechanically and electrically compatible. One of the exceptions to 1+/1- is some power amps and Ampeg SVT4PRO running in bridged mode which use 1+ and 2+ at the amp end but which still require 1+/1- at the speaker end. Some PJB cabs double up using 1+ and 2+ for one leg of the cable and 1- and 2- for the other leg. The Compact 4 only uses 1+/1-. I know because I used to have one. Some PA cabs with crossovers use the 2+/2- connections to drive either tops or subs depending where the crossover is located. I have had two cases where Speakon cables to MB LM2 amps have gone intermittent. In the first case it was solved by using a 4-pole Speakon instead of a 2-pole. The second instance was never fully resolved. I contacted Neutrik and they offered to provide a new combo socket however as a cheap Amazon sourced cable seemed to work so it was left like that. I have my suspicions that these early amps used very early versions of the combo Speakon/Jack and that either something is not quite right mechanically or that the contacts weaken over time especially when used with only jacks plugs. In the interest of trying to get to the bottom of the problem I bought a well use 1996 LM2 from a BC member which I now gig with. It works well however it did exhibit the fault on one particular cable. On examination I could find nothing wrong with the plug and certainly nothing wrong with the socket in the amp as it works faultlessly with any other cable. I'm afraid the Jury is out on this one. To the OP I suggest that you try a totally different Speakon lead. It should not matter whether it is 2-pole (NL2) or 4-pole(NL4). If this doesn't do it then I would have the amp combo socket checked by a reputable amp tech.
17.
A Jaw Dropping copy from Behringer! Wow...
My thought exactly. Makes you wonder whether Behringer have taken over Fischer, have bought the design or are manufacturing it under license. If not it's straight plagiarism.
18. You should take into account that the exchange rate has moved in the pounds favour since you ordered and that BD have had your cash in their account earning interest over all this time. I can't imagine that they will have to pay B&M until 30 days after the Elfs (or is it Elves) are shipped to them.
19. Tough one this. Although the front rack fixing holes are to one of two international standards, the position of side fixings into the equipment are totally down to the equipment manufacturer who in almost all cases would have produced rack brackets to go with their equipment. I guess you have two options, either find a proper pair of Trace brackets or get some generic ones and drill some holes to suit your amp.
20. Perhaps something of this size would suit. This red Westfield has a 25.5-inch scale and is fitted with flats. It plays very easily and sounds great as those who saw it at last years SE bash can testify. I bought it for my Grandson but he is not particularly interested so would be prepared to sell.
21. As far as I can remember Loud Inc was a small concern based in Northern Ireland. They were making these cabs about 10-15 years ago. The cabs were amazing value for money however for the suppliers ran into difficulties, deliveries became very erratic and they eventually ceased trading. I'm sure someone who was on Bassworld will be able to add a bit more. More info at http://basschat.co.uk/topic/27039-loud-inc-410-cab/
22. Having only recently moved to a Markbass LM2 head I've finally found my sound by having all tone controls at 0, filters off and tone shaping done by a Sansamp BDDI. Why has it taken me so long?
