1. Another reason I got rid of it was that I sold my Ashdown rig and moved onto something else.
2.
Why foolish?
I suppose in my naivety I thought that it would look cool but no-one noticed it.
3. I foolishly bought one of these back in the day and eventually sold it on Ebay. Still have the ad photo.
4. It can happen in a theatre venue just as well. Some years ago I went to see Jules Holland and his big band at the old Civic Hall in Guildford. They'd just started and the moment the brass came in the power went off. This happened three times at which point the band were on the point of walking off but the technical crew replugged things and they finally got going. Most embarrassing.
5. Paul dropped in on his way to RHS wisely to pick-up the Mesa Prodigy 4:88 he'd bought. An absolute pleasure to deal with. Many thanks.
6. EMS 19-inch Rack mounting flight case. 380mm useable internal depth. High pressure injection-moulded EMS rack cases are made from a tough, impact-resistant polycarbonate composite, similar to that used for car bumpers and crash helmets. A non-heat sensitive material, it does not buckle with hot equipment such as large power amplifiers. Obviously racks are extremely light in weight, yet their clever construction makes them rugged enough to withstand significant rough handling.... This case has been used and has a few battle scars to prove it but is still very serviceable. Collection only from GU10.
7. Congratulations to you both. Brilliant.

9. Anything digital will introduce delay. Analogue wireless is better. Copper to copper is best.
10.
You're more than welcome to borrow one of my CN112's Dave. I don't need it for a while, so no rush.
Thanks for the offer Nick but I think I'm sorted for now. I've just got a couple of outdoor gigs coming up in August that will need a bit more oomph.
11. Thanks for the responses. Seems like a pair of 112EXTs is a good idea however I've decided that it is difficult to justifying the outlay on a new pair of VK just for the occasional gig. In the end I've opted for a used Berg EX112 from another BCer. It'll be interesting to see how well the cabs work together. About 10 years ago I used an Epifani UL112 with a T-112, a similar arrangement of Neo and non-Neo and that worked really well. It's a shame that the EX112 isn't just a bit lighter.
12. Three FSL footswitches, one twin is latching, the other twin and the single are momentary contact.
13.
Donate them to the SE Bash raffle? I'm sure that somebody would want them.
You might think that but I took along a set of Bassist magazines to the 2008 Bash in Guildford and most were left behind and binned I believe. Interestingly there is a guy on Ebay selling individual copies at £4.99 each.
14. Complete set of Bass Guitar Magazine from Issue 1 to Issue 137 (Dec 2016) except for issue 5. Collection only as these are far to heavy to post so please don't ask.

Feedback for ikay

Popped over to Ian's this afternoon to pick up a Berg cab that I'd bought from him. Reluctantly I couldn't stay to check out the basses in his collection or enjoy a cuppa but needless to say it was a faultless transaction and Ian is a great guy to deal with. Thanks.
16. I've been using a Berg CN112 for a couple of years now and have been very happy with it. I have a couple of outdoor gigs coming up soon and was looking to get another however they have been discontinued and rarely come up for sale used so I am considering selling the CN112 and getting a pair of Vanderkley 112EXT. These have come out a my current preferred choice as they are light and front ported. I don't like cabs with rear ports, especially when used outdoors as I had a very bad experience with some Ashdown 4x8s many years ago and consequently have always avoided rear ported cabs. Has anyone ever compared the EXT112 to a CN112? Also what is user experience of the 112EXT? Alternatively what else is there that is small and light and will give a comparable sound?
17. In that case it's wired to put two 4-ohm cabinets in series creating an 8-ohm load to the amplifier. As far as I can see there should be no reason why you couldn't change one or all of the Speakons to jacks. You just need to be sure that everything is in-phase.
18.
The mix sounds pretty good too, with some nice prominent bass (and we all thought the BBC didn't do bass).
Agreed. They are probably taking a feed of the stadium PA mix and therefore can't mess with it.
19. I was 21 and half way through a 16 week course at the BBC training centre at Evesham. My room mate got a copy as soon as it was released and it was played a lot at the BBC Club. He went on to become a sound mixer and his eventual claim to fame was mixing the Freddy Mercury tribute Concert at Wembley. He did all right. Happy days and it's still a great record.
20. Louis, let me know if you need any help with this.
21. If you think outside the box then a Sadowsky Metro UV70 is a possible alternative.
22.
Weird that the 410 is 8 ohms and the 210 4 ohms, but you have what you have...
That would be right. 4x10 is 4x8-ohms are in series/parallel. 2x10 is 2 x 8-ohms in parallel.
23. I used to play in a very loud blues/rock band using an Ashdown ABM500 head and 2 x Mini 4x8 Cabs. Rarely was there PA support and the only time I had a problem was playing outdoors because all the bass came out of the rear ports and disappeared. It made me vow never to have a rear-ported cab again, but that is probably a different discussion. Later I moved onto a pair of Epifani 1x12s and then a pair of Aguilar SL112s. Never had a problem with tone or volume.
