Sadly the bass guitar hadn't been invented in 1946.

The output of crossover in your subs is Line Level and your tops are passive so between the two you are going to need a power amplifier or change the tops to active ones.

Are any BCers currently on the P&O Arvia, either on holiday or working?

Having just returned to my abode in the west I have to agree what an excellent relaxing day it was. My first SW Bash after many years in the SE and it didn't disappoint. Congratulations to Mike and his able helpers, especially the catering department, you excelled. Nice to meet some names that I only ever knew as customers. I'm looking forward to next year already.

Just had half-hour blast with my G1 and have no problem with any of the strings on any of my basses. Sorry but don't know what to suggest. Perhaps you have a rogue unit.

I'll bring something for the raffle, just not sure yet.

Yes it was yours Ian. Am I correct in thinking that you imported it from the USA. Fantastic bass and superb tone. I eventually decided that I didn't get on with short scale as my muscle memory is too rooted in 34" scale. Also no longer gigging so a waste for it to sit here in its case and not be used.

I used these transducers. I built a 4 which proved to be a bit cumbersome and I still have the 2. The next project is a single. My most recent band used pre-recorded drum tracks so I had a feed of that into the Eich stool but as the levels were not very constant it sometimes got a bit over-excited and caused me some back problems. I used the 2 transducer at our final gig but even that is a bit too large so I will make a single unit, just in case we reform. As someone has pointed out there is a very detailed article in German which was very helpful. I had to make a number of router templates for the different depth cut-outs. The most difficult bit was stopping unwanted vibrations, particularly the base. I also had a couple of transducers go off-centre and vibrate rather than thump.

I did but when we moved to Cornwall I sold the bits as I didn't think I'd need it. Then I found a band and had to buy an Eich stool which I still have. I've also made a couple of bass boards but never used them as the backbeat is quite good.

I've recently strung 3 of my basses with Labella 750N black nylon strings. With two of the sets had a faulty D-string which they have very kindly replaced.

Is anyone coming to the Bash from as far afield as Surrey or East Hampshire?

Moved to a 5 in 1998 and it my go to for about 16 years Eventually my fingers wouldn't stretch and went back to 4. Reckoned there were only about 3 songs that needed drop D so I now have a Hipshot on my main basses. Sometimes think I'd like another 5 but my brain says no -

When did you realise….. you weren’t going to “make it”?

Somewhere in Morden if I remember correctly. The "Micky Kemp Band" went out under the name of "Badlands" supporting a Guns and Roses tribute band who where running out of steam, bored and just going through the motions. You came to talk to Micky about Ryan Adams. -

Never had any ambitions to become professional, just not good enough and I wanted a steady career. I'm probably a better player now than I was 60 years ago. By a strange quirk I ended up playing for a songwriter in the early 2000s and went with him to Austin, Texas to record an album. Took 2 weeks leave. One of the best holidays I've ever had but 3 months later I was made redundant and that was the end of the day job. Played for him again in 2005 and as I had no day job I suppose I was professional as I had no main income. Did 80 gigs that year but made no money. He was never signed however still writing, gigging and recording. Won't put his music on on-line platforms. Sells CDs to pay for beer and holidays. -
Speedy recovery. Be a shame if you can't make it.
