1. I wanted LEDs on my SR5 so I got Status to make me a neck with them. That was over 10 years and it's still going strong.
 2.
Best cab I've ever owned. This is a seriously good deal from a top guy
I have to agree with Nick however a bit like like busses. You wait for one and then two come along at once
 3.
That actually looks like a TA3F connector in the pic too... so it's a bit misleading whether it's a jack or a mini xlr connector. It could be the case that the lav mic actually has a 1/4" mic on the end - but I would be surprised. Shure's system for example, use the TA3F connector irrespective of whether the transmitter is being used for guitar (in which case it will be a TA3F connector to 1/4" jack) or lav mic - which will have the TA3F connector on. I can't image for one minute that Line6 would build this transmitter with two input connector types... so the answer is... who knows?
The photo is the OP's link very misleading showing a TA type connector when it should be a TRS jack. Details are on the Line 6 Web Site and in the User manuals which are all on-line. The bottom of the range of the Line 6 systems have always used jacks for the transmitter input. The remainder use TA4F connectors the same as Shure and Ashdown. Only AKG use the TA3F.
 4. Looks very interesting. It would appear that both use the same beltpack transmitter, TBP06, so it must just be the receivers that are different. The G30 being made to put on a pedalboard. The connection information is somewhat confusing. The web site says a "TS" jack whereas the manual says "TRS" and gives the following pinout details. Tip = Signal Ring = Bias Voltage, +5v Sleeve = Ground Unless they have some sort of protection putting a normal TS jack into it will short the 5v straight to ground. Not particularly well thought out.
 5. Ticket booked and will be there on Sunday.
 6.
Nice to see you welcoming the drummer to the band with the traditional bassist's greeting there Dave
7. My first was a Framus Star Bass bought in 1963.
 8. We seem to have plenty of Jam nights around me - Aldershot, Ash, Basingstoke, Farnborough, Camberley, Guildford, etc. Almost every night of the week and that's on top of the Open Mic singer/songwriter nights. There is a house band who provide the backline, PA and drum kit, sometimes keyboards as well. All you need is your instrument or sticks. House band open up with 3 or 4 numbers. If you are new then you need to make yourself known to the leader of the house band who picks groups of musicians to play together. The group decides who is singing, quite often one of the guitarists, and agree three songs. If one or more doesn't know a specific song the chord structure will be shown/told and off you go. If you attend regularly then you get to know some of the popular songs, and no they are not all 12-bars. Depending how many bass players turn up will determine how often you get up. Sometimes bands will turn up and blast through 3 numbers just for the practice and to try and impress the Publican and try and get a gig there. Our local Jams are well supported by the local gigging community so the musicians are almost all of a very good standard so we've had some great nights. It's also a great way to network and get yourself known. I've been going to Jams on and off for about 20 years and as well as a regular punter I've done my share of house band duties and let others use my rig. If you don't mind it's a great way to hear what it sounds like from out front. Maybe I'm mad but I like being put out of my comfort zone and having to think and play on my feet. It's also very good for ear training. Quite often if I've played something that I'd not heard before so I'll go and find it and have a listen so that if it comes up again then I'm slightly better prepared. Long may they continue.

 11. Well this has been an interesting read. Not sure that I can bring a huge amount to the varied discussion but I am 69 next month and still get out and gig occasionally when anyone asks - I have a couple of occasional dep slots - however I have drawn the line at being in a busy regular band for the time being although never say never.
 12. I bought something last Sunday, 4th Jan and received order confirmation on the 5th. It was shipped on the 7th and has been sitting in UK Customs since waiting Customs clearance since the 8th. Perhaps it will pitch up sometime next week if I'm lucky.

 15.
I was just wondering who Mike Leads was
He plays in the same band as Mike Channel and Anna Dapta.
 16. Basses In: Sadowsky Metro HPJ, Westfield 24" scale Precision for grandson. Basses Out: None - they've just gone under the bed. What I learned:- 1. Sadowsky Metros are really nice as the necks suit my small hands and you can get a good one for a sensible price. 2. Don't really need a 5-string anymore as I can get by on a 4-string with a drop-D tuner. 3. Since I started depping in an Elvis tribute band I have much greater admiration for Jerry Scheff and his style.
 17. The only jacks that I will ever entertain using are the Neutrik Professional (NP) series because the business end is a one piece construction i.e. no rivet joining the solder tag to the jack. The regular right-angled versions (NP2RX) are workhorse connectors and I've never had one of those fail. There is one exception and that is the right-angled Silent jack which is inherently weak and has a tendency to come apart with heavy use.
 18.
My point was that it seems old fashioned analogue recording techniques reached a peek in the early eighties, especially on the pop stuff. Nothing to do with dig, or mp3's or whatnot.
It was in the early 80s that the transition to digital started. Firstly the ubiquitous Studer 24-track analogue tape recorder was replaced by the Sony PCM-3324. I seem to remember that Mitsubishi made a similar recorder. Some studios ran two PCM-3324s in sync. Later Sony introduced the PCM-3348 and these were sometimes run in pairs. Analogue desks but with digital recorders and then in the mid 80s Neve introduced their DSP, the first all-digital multitrack desk. Other manufacturers followed; SSL, Sony, etc. It was the advent of higher powered computer workstations and software that changed things.
