1. Thanks for the quick responses. Previously I have used a portable mini-disc recorder and small external which fulfilled the role very well but is a bit fiddly to set up. I'm not after studio quality recording just a record of what's been played so (a) I know what I need to play or ( whether I played it right. I had spotted the Zoom H1 and there seem some good deals around at the moment.
2. I'm about to join a new band and need to record rehearsals and live shows. There seem to be quite a number of different makes so based on user experience which make/model is the best value for money?
3. Wow. If someone would take my pre-EB Ray off my hands I'd have this in a heartbeat.
4. Pin 1 of the TA4F is ground. Pin 3 is signal.
5. I watched the Blues Brothers again recently and he plays a couple of basses in there, one of which was a 3TS with what looked like a J neck. Perhaps a bit of freeze-frame is in order. Have to agree with Jack that the Lakky DD is a fine bass with great character, just perhaps the wrong colour.
6. Just got home from buying a Sunburst Geddy Lee from Iain. Lovely chap and makes a really nice cup of tea. BTW the bass is pretty good too.
7. As far as pick-ups go I had this response from Lakland a few years ago when I had a DJ4. "The cloth covered wires are on the Lindy Fralin pickups. The black/white plastic coated wires are the Aeros. There have been times when the Aeros were hard to come by. We would sometimes install the Lindy Fralins if there was a pinch. We wouldn't go the other way however (Aeros for Fralins). We feel that the Fralins sound better than the Aeros." I believe that the Lakland pickup wires are red/green. Hope this helps.
8. Top bloke. John purchased my Lakland Duck Dunn. We agreed to meet half way-ish to conduct the deal. He was at the rendezvous early and the transaction was very quick and efficient. All in all a very pleasurable experience.
9.
Is the 2 pole Speakon different in appearance to the 4 pole? If so it would help in identifying which end is which. Peter
It is but I always label the amp end of the cable anyway.
10. At the time that your QSC was made there was only chassis-mount Speakon available was the 4-pole. More recent amps are now using a chassis mount version of the 2-pole Speakon. Many Speakon to Speakon cables use the 2-pole Speakon connector as most amps and cabs only use terminals 1+/1- of the chassis mount 4-pole Speakon. To tap into the bridged mode of your amp you need a 4-pole Speakon at the amp end of the cable, so either a 4-pole Speakon (wired 1+/2+) to a 2-pole Speakon (wired 1+/1-) or a 4-pole Speakon (wired 1+/2+) to a 4-pole Speakon (wired 1+/1-) will do the trick. Hope I haven't confused.
11. Hi Steve Really glad to hear that things are improving. There are plenty of simple bass lines, roots and fifths, in early skiffle, Johnny Cash, etc.
12. After showing it at the SE bash on Saturday I finally got to use my new Mini-Rig at a local Jam last night. It rocks. Ideal for a pub gig as it was more than loud enough with a drummer, and very punchy. Lots of favourable comments.
13.
I thought if something was for sale we had to state a price, not "open to offers"?
Oops. Price quoted.
14. And good time was had by all - well certainly by me. Nice to see so many BC friends and to make some new ones.
15.
Yep... still nowt.
Same for me. Boxes ticked. No emails.
16.
Hi Dave, I've sorted patch cables now thank-you, but I still need a pedal power cable Haha, how do you know Tom? Si
OK. Will do. Tom's our Rock Choir leader. Saw him this morning.
17.
Hi Dave Are you bringing along a selection of cables or only stuff that's been specially ordered? Nik
A bit of both Nik. I've got some "used-twice" Klotz speaker cables plus a few other bits.
18.
OBBM - If you have another standard power cable for a pedal board, standard female to female, (power block to pedal) say 8 inches, right angle if possible? I'm also wanting to redo my patch cables on my pedal board, but i'd preferably want little connectors similar to George L style ones?! Guessing you don't have anything like that?! Cheers Si
Will sort that for you Si. BTW Tom G says Hi.
19.
Do you know I was just mulling that over. Could probably do with some short, and not quite so short Rightangle->Rightangle pedal board links. I'll try and get my act together for tomorrow if that's not too late
I've also got a few of those at £5 each.
20. Mart please add a new unopened set of DR Lo-Riders 40-100 to the list of prizes.
21.
Any interest in a swap for my immaculate 5 string black '97 Gibson Les Paul (Bartoilini p'ups and preamp?)
Thanks Gareth but I should have specified 4-string only - got too many 5s.
