1.
Hey obbm - what's the blended pickup sound on this like compared to a regular JJ configuration?
I'm not the best person to answer this as my hearing is pretty well f**ck*d but to me it sounds deeper. Without the bridge pickup it's a modern P, add in the bridge and the sound tightens. Wind back the neck pick-up and it goes deep growly. I've always liked the PJ set-up. Last year I acquired a 5-string Shuker PJ in a trade and can't justify keeping both. BTW the neck on this is superb.
  2.
Hey Dave. Has Nick (old Horse Murphy) not contacted you? He is looking for a Duck Dunn.
Not a peep out of him.
  3. Thanks Gareth for jumping in there. I was going to comment that you would not get a USA Lakland for this price.
  4. Forgot to mention that it has a Hipshot D-tuner on the E-string. I also have the original tuner.
  5.
Hi, I live close to Guildford, any chance I could pop round and view tomorrow (Monday) sometime during the day? Ian
pm sent
  6.
Who did your Pickguard ? Is that one of Jeannies ??
Yes Les it was he.
  7.
Now you told me this was a keeper lol
That was then. Things have changed and I need something else for the new band so something has to go. It could have been the Shuker but I've recently bonded with it. It could have been the pre-EB Ray but no-one has the money to buy it so regretably this is next as I won't sell the pink Jazz.
  8.
Just lifted this photo off TalkBass - seems there will be a Berg AE212 4 ohm, cab out soon ..
Why do they do this to me? Arghhhh.
  9. Even though this a superb bass it is now superfluous to my current needs and sadly has to go to make way for an incoming Godin fretless. It has a matched pair of Lindy Fralin pickups with separate CTS stack knob pots (250K/250K) for each. When the Gallery did the routing for the J-pickup I also had them put in a side-mounted jack and a rear battery box jsut in case I wanted to add a pre-amp at a later date. I will include a generic hard case. £770 plus postage. Collection welcome.
  10. How was my gig last night? Very different. Recently joined 5 others in an accoustic jug band. The last two weeks Tuesday night's accoustic jams were the rehearsals and last night we did about an hour at a local festival which was raising money for the Chase Children's Hospice in Guildford. The audience seemed to like it and we have subsequently been given offers of other gigs. Band comprises ukeleles, guitars, banjos, violin and for the first time ever, me on my very cheap double bass. Definitely need some decent strings, tweak it a bit, maybe invest in a smaller amp (MB F1 and Epi UL112 was a bit overkill) and most importantly try and improve my technique..
  11. Squire Vintage Modified Fretless Jazz strung with TI flats. Excellent conditon (pix later). £140 plus postage or collection welcome. Just checked and it is completely unblemished.

Sad as this siiituation is, what about the NHS which has treated a number of us succesfully.
  13.
Kings Lynn, Norfolk.
That's a shame. A bit too far to collect. Very interested.
  14.
Bump and a tastey reduction. £650 collected. I noticed the photo looks a bit bleached out. In reality the top of the Bass is a more mellow tan colour.....easier on the eye.
Collected from where?
  15. Jack, talk to Alien (Andy). He made one for me to fit to one of Higgies pedals a couple of years ago.
  16. The signal going to a powered monitor is typically a line-level signal. Depending on the mixer and the monitor it can be balanced or unbalanced but must be screened. Mic cables is best for this however an instrument lead is equally suitable in cases where both ends are unbalanced. Certainly do not use a speaker lead as they have no screening, will pick-up interference, can become microphonic and can potentially create howl-round. An unscreened speaker lead is only suitable for connecting a power amp to a speaker.
  17. Go and talk to Joe White in Farnborough Michael.
  18. I use Lo-Riders on all my basses. Superb on the Status necked Sr5.
  19.
The main thing I don't like about graphite necks is the sticky-feeling glossy finish on them.
My experience is totally the opposite. Graphite is clean smooth and fast. Wood is slow and sticky.
  20.
.....look awful.
Discuss.
  21.
Thanks for your help guys, but after last nights gig using a newly aquired SWR750 the sound from this cab has gone to a new level. The guys in the band are begging me to keep it. There didnt seem to be much interest anyway, so i have decided to hold on to it. Thanks for selling this to me Dave it really was worth every penny.
Just for a moment I wasconsidering last night if I wanted to have it back again. Just for a moment though.
  22. This is a superb cab and I can thoroughly recommend it. I gigged it several times and it always sounded superb with the AD200B.
  23.
Surely the p/g wouldn't fit if this were the case.
Could be if it was custom made to fit a non-standard bass with a different bridge.
  24. Looks to me as if the pick-up is too far back. Please can you take off the scratch plate and take a photo of the bare body from the neck to the bridge.
