I am currently gassing for a Blackout Effectors Musket v2, it could potentially replace my Supercollider and Bass Big Muff.
what's the diff between v1 and v2, any idea? I'm using a v1 and it sounds pretty good.
2. I'm tempted to go up and get a cab at some point. Loving my gt200 with the nv610 but wouldn't mind a mat 410 as an alternative cab to use. bump!
3. Not advice as such, but I popped a couple of fuses when I used to have a markbass. The amp eventually caught fire during a recording session, a nice rock and roll ending to it's career.. I'd punish the amp with silly amounts of distortion and compression, I certainly had the mileage out of it! I just binned it in the end, the board was fried. Great amp at the time tho.
4. Beautiful amps. I've been rocking mine for a year now. Just done a spot of home recording with mine, i'll try and get some samples up soon, it sounds really full and meaty!
5. Guys I've got a CS-3 for sale that is modded for a full bass sound. The CS-3 is mint condition and boxed for sale at £45 delivered. Cheers Tim
6.
This is an original, green Dredgetone Bass Angler. It's in fairly good condition with velcro on the bottom, however, it has some chips in the lettering on the pedal. I'll try to get pics up sometime tonight. Looking for about £140 shipped?
pm'd
7. Cheers Cetera. Does sound really nice. Pure filth! Love the sound of my ripper through this set up as well.
8. I'm using a gt200 with an nv610. It has both 4 and 8 ohm taps. I really like the sound but i'd still say try before you buy. Pop up and see Jeff is your best bet, or give him a call. Re the grind thing I have recorded with it once at low volume, but the sound is obviously a lot better with the volume up. You can probs get some dirt out of it at low volumes by messing with the depth and drive knobs, but I haven't really bothered with that. Get a mini mat if you want low volume grind!!!
9. Yeah I can't get enough of this album. The riff at the end of song 1 is incredible when it kicks in.
10. You're definitely describing Gibson sounds there Jamm IMO For example, my 78 ripper. It dishes out a really thick dark sound. Almost too dark, but it comes to life in a mix and really supports the guitars well without getting in the way of the kickdrum. I can't get enough of the old school gibbo tones.
11. Umcoo, for me it definitely thickened things up. Made quite a difference, adding a bit more grunt and heft to the overall sound. Have a try and let us know what you think man Still miss that amp
12. I used to do that with my old 135 - gives you a nice overall boost lovely amps
13. They look awesome Umph fair play
14. +1 my ears are ringing like bells today after using mine in rehersal last night, and thats with ear plugs in!!! just done a bit of home recording with mine using the di out on the back, sounds sweet...dirty valves mmmm
15. Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah I meant an active di with eq. All sorted now, got a sansamp on loan coming. The recording is on my band's fostex vbf160ex so it's a home recording affair..
16. good call... if anyone has any offers though, i'm still interested. cheers MacDaddy!
17. Guys Bit of a cheeky post but if you dont ask.... Got a recording date next week and haven't owned or used a DI in aeons.... I won't be able to crank my matamp up too much as it's a home recording jobbie. Was wondering if anyone would lend me a nice DI for the week if I paid for special delivery back and forth (and obviously cover the cost of the unit if it failed on me) I haven't really got time to sort one out any other way. I would be happy to pay for the loan or you can have my bluebeard fuzz or wah for the week if anyone would like to try any of them.. Would be happy to try the hartke, aguilar or sansamp or anything nice and effective. thanks Tim
18.
What sort of music do you play? and can i be cheeky and ask how much they both cost? I'm loving my ABM, but in the not so immediate future, a full valve amp would be really cool
www.myspace.com/argonautofsouthwales There are three old songs on there from our first album which I recorded with my old markbass. We are sort of a blend of metal/hardcore/rock/doom I suppose. Our sound changes from song to song really, the newer stuff is different again. The gt cost 1300 I think and the berg cost me 900 from the states a couple of years back. Don't get me wrong i'm not made of money, just upgraded and sold old gear on, occasionally adding money here and there to get what I want.
19. Yeah they are. Didn't use a DI. Just wanted to keep it mic-cab Got a few demos i've done recently with the matamp. I'll see if I can dig the cd out and stick a song up on myspace.
20. Yeah did previously own an ad200 which is a lovely amp in it's own right plus it's lot lighter to carry than the gt200! In short, the matamp > than the orange. Tone is a subjective thing, but for me the matamp is perfect. Both good amps though. It's louder, has more depth, thicker tones, more snarl and is obviously extremely well made.. How much of the immediate tonal differences are attributed to the jj KT88s in my power section as appose to the 6550s in the orange, I don't know. The matamp is also definitely less 'peaky' than the orange in terms of the compression you get from the valves...smoother response, more natural sounding. I'll post some recordings when I can. I've got clips of the orange and the matamp somewhere....
21. Thanks JG appreciate your kind words. We'll have to get some shows on down brizzle with your band (you can try the gt then if u like) as we're struggling to get any shows around here. Yeah the GT200 is brilliant, perfect for my needs. Absolutely massive bottom end and plenty of natural dirt which is what I go for. I find it really compliments active basses in that it can take out some of the brittleness and replace it with girth. The EQ is quite basic but it does a good job. There's not really a bad sound to be found. And between the depth/drive/eq + bass eq a multitude of sounds can be achieved. I tend to run it full bore as i'm not really looking for a clean sound..tend to stick a bluebeard and wah in front of it as well which sounds great.
