1.
Good grief, OK then. If I didn't have a conscience and had loads of money and room to spare, then this is what I'd be diving for: Alembic Series 2 (5 string with standard point body and 5A maple facings in black cherry 'burst) AGC Custom 5 (fretted and fretless) Carl Thompson Scroll Bass Fodera Beez Elite 5 (quilted redwood facings) Jaydee Calibas 5 (fretted and fretless) Jaydee Supernatural Classic (if I could ever find one of the originals) Ken Smith BMT bass (pretty much every single example I could get my hands on) Michael Spalt custom 5 (fretted and fretless) Modulus Quantum TBX 6 'Andy West' (fretted and fretless) Musicman Cutlass II Musicman Cutlass (without the I on the headstock) Pedulla Hexabuzz Pedulla Pentabuzz (in greenburst) Rainsong Graphite Acoustic bass guitar Sandberg Basic 5 (fretted and fretless) Shuker headless 5 (fretted and fretless) Status Stealth 6 headless custom (fretted and fretless with redwood tops) '79 Steinberger L2 prototype (or 1980 early serial #) Steinberger XL2 Transtrem '83 Strata bass (one without a banana shaped neck) Spector NS-5XL (fretted and fretless) Preamps: Alembic F-1X Eden WT1000 Navigator preamp Custom preamp/mixer/Alembic power supply + Stereo rack mounted valve compressor + Peavey DEC1400 or BK Electronics Mxf 1200D 1u Class D power amp Amps: Burman Pro4000 (whatever I could lay my hands on, in good nick) Eden WT1205 Fender Bassman Gallien Krueger 2001RB Mesa Boogie 400+ (again) Trace Elliot V8 Trace Elliot Hexavalve Walter Woods Ultra Cabs: Aguilar 4x10" x2 (for the Mesa Boogie and Walter Woods) Fender Bassman 4x12" and 2x15" Schroeder 4x12 neo x2 Trace Elliot V type 4x12 to match the V8 Burman 4x12 to match the Burman heads I reckon it could probably take me a lifetime and a half to accrue that lot!
Overall CK, excellent taste! Very close to my ultimate gas list except I'd go with the fretted option everytime. Love to try the alembic pre out with a suitable power amp. Very fond of the bassman circuit as well.
2. Garan feeling the stingray vibe. Lovely sound in the mix.
3.
haha i even thought of another bass i want on the way home but i forgot now. when my cab is back in the practise room you should pop down with a spector and blast it out innit.
Fo' sho' bro Garan crankzies. I'll bring some of my fx down for you to check out with the sunn.
4. You don't want much do you Nash Yeah the grabbers are nice. I think we should 'acquire' John's from The Keep Ok here's mine : Basses Spector Euro 5lx in natural Spector NS5XL in Buckeye Burl Spector NS4 in black and blue Amps Mesa Boogie 400+, Fender 300Pro, Markbass SD800, Bassman 135, Aguilar DB750 Cabs NV610, NV215/Mesa 410 x 2 I think that would cure me....temporarily! I need to have a go on your Sunn as well Nash
5. Im happy with my rig atm! Although if money wasn't a problem I'd love a boogie 400+, a NV610 and a NV215. That would be sufficient I'd need a roady or two and a stadium to play them in as well!
6. If I had a choice it would be a PJ model or a straight up P. I've got two ibanez blazers which IMO are way beefier in the mix than any fender I've tried/owned.
7. Yeah fair play that amp is a bass monster!!! I miss it Excellent sound using that. My spector sounded good through the boogie.
8. Markbass amps and cabs. Owned a couple of valve amps in the past, mesa 400+ and bassman 135. The bassman was nice but it kept blowing up and the boogie was just overkill!
9. My DT10 which I bought about 3 months ago died last week in practice after literally about 10 uses. Trouble is, I can't for the life of me remember where online I bought it from and I've lost the receipt. DOH! They're fine tuners, but I'm quite gutted that mine died after such a short and infrequent amount of use. I'm not sure whether to get another in the long run. Perhaps I was just very unlucky as by most accounts they're reliable and gig worthy. Just dropped some cash on a ISP decimator to tame the slight feedback I get from the BB in between tracks etc. Hopefully it will do it's job well. The only thing I'm worried about is how it performs in bypass mode. So I may end up exclusively putting the BB and ISP in the loop of the VBF2 for bypass reasons. So my signal chain will be - DT10>RC2>LTD>UF01>VBF2>BB>ISP Next on the GAS list : CE-2
10. Very nice sound on that ray!

Stunning playing bro! Real nice laid back groove.
12. Cheers bro! I'm loving it mainly for the three gain stages - LTD to UF-01 to BB, it kills and the variety on offer covers all areas I need on that front. I've pretty much exhausted my grit cravings so perhaps you're right on the modulation front. That's why I was thinking CE2, as it's quite subtle and in places would blend right into my style and requirements.
13. Yeah the AD200 is a cracking amp. Used one recently, it sure is a chunky mo fo!
14. My current set up is almost my ideal setup. Barge RC2, bluebeard, zoom uf-01, barber LTD, VBF2. Got a custom loop in the works which is gonna be awesome for what i want it to do. Gassing for a CE-2 as well. I should get a pedal board to tidy up a bit, but I can't be bothered at the mo!!
15. The aphex is an awesome unit. I've stopped using compression recently though, or not using as much anyway. I find I'm getting better results. It's not absolutely essential, it's one of those things you might like to apply here and there. One thing with the aphex though, is that over time with constant pluggng the of inputs can get a little faulty as they're mounted to the circuit board and not the chassis. But if you're careful with your gear then you shouldn't get any issues. My main compressor at the moment is a Barge RC-2. I use it mainly to protect the preamp, and/or to level out intricate playing passages (if I can be bothered ^_^ . )
16. Spector all the way baybbeeeeeeeee!
17. I'm using the F1 in yellow. I find it's got a superb sound IMO especially with a tad of overdrive.. Not tried the new stuff though. The R300 as Sug says might be right up your street though.
18. Yeah good to see things are back on track. Cheers!
