  1. Power valves died at the beginning of last night's rehearsal. Think it's down to poor electricity in the place we rehearse so I'm getting a power conditioner for future use. There must of been less than 80 hours burn in time on my valves since getting it serviced at matamp last so it's a bit suspect. Booked it in for a revalve/service etc with a local valve guru. Should really take it to Huddersfield for matamp to do their thing, but I haven't got the time right now and I'm miles away in South Wales. Any users recommend any kt-88s?
  2. SFX chorus on mine though I hardly ever use it
  3. Baroness purple has been in my car for a few weeks now. In the house I'm listening to hiphop sessions I've done recently Edit: and lots of old school dub reggae
  4. Imo they are just tools to make music Long as it's in tune, plays well and sounds good, that's all that matters to me.
  5. It's got a real smooth action hasn't it. Pulling 16db out of my peaks and you wouldn't be able to tell. Really holds you unobtrusively in the mix as well no matter what your eq. With my pbass and the tone all the way down it's still clear as day with a nice layer of warmth. Cracking piece of kit.
  6. Let us know how it stacks up
  7. Wow....seriously impressed with this pedal. Evens out my sound super naturally... It's a keeper. Worth the cash. High gain mode @ 18v is ace.
  8. Cheers. I have emailed Simon to see what the score is. Was hoping to use the cali at a studio date I've got coming up in the next few weeks. Worst comes to the worst I'll cancel and order with red dog.
  9. Cheers Bearfist nice to hear that. Wondering what the build/delivery times are like on them now.
  10. Agreed. Well expensive, but I desperately need a nice comp for my new band so decided to take the plunge. Will definitely post my thoughts once I've put it through it's paces.
  11. Dropped a fair wedge of cash on a cali76 tx last night to complement my pbass/matamp gt200 setup. Looking forward to having a twiddle. Any other users on here?
  12. Guys I have a 2004 pbass that appears to have a small albeit important missing part. For each of the saddles there are two threads for adjusting the string height, and my e string only has one. Anyone know where I can get one of these online? Cheers Tim
  13. Sounds rad. Colouring book EP is sublime One of my favourite bands
  14. Used my flatwound strung 2004 USPB today for the first time through my matamp gt-200 and 6x10. Little bit of drive provided by my catalinbread sft and I reached tonal nirvana. I've always played spector euro lx basses and I still absolutely love them, but something about the simplicity of a pb+tubes+drive pedal just does it for me. Converted.
  15. Cool cheers guys. Out of curiosity... Which flat has a red silk? Is that a roto? - Reason being I bought the bass from the marketplace here and it came fitted with some old flats that are strung through. Wondering if that's not good for the bass.
  16. So...I think it's a toss up between Labellas and TI, leaning toward the Labellas. My bass is a string through body 04 US Pb. With that said, is there a particular set I should go for?
  17. HI all Recent convert to using flats on a pbass - great sound. Any recommendations? Soundwise - I like a nice full and warm bottom end and the string needs to be flexible. I use both fingers and pick. Scale wise - is there anything I should bear in mind when purchasing them? I string them through body on my 2004 pbass. Cheers Tim
  18. Great basschatter - excellent comms all through the purchase of his pbass. Buy with complete confidence. Top bloke!
  19. Thanks guys, cab suggestions sound great. Both sound interesting. How is the retro volume wise? Is it going to stand up against a loud guitarist and drummer? Nice sound? I like the idea of a portable two driver cab...just makes life easier getting in and out of the car with rehersals etc. I had a berg nv610 years ago which was a lovely cabinet, but I think I'd be more interested in giving the barefaced cabs a whirl.
  20. Hi all Not posted in an age, so here I am with a question for the BC masses... I'm a long time matamp user(gt200mk1 and 610) and I absolutely love the sound my setup gives me. However, it is pretty darn heavy, and coupled with the load in/load out routine I am struggling to get about as quickly as I'd like to. Carting a 610 single handedly up the steps to my house is just overkill on my aging frame. What can I get in a lightweight set up that will get me 90% of the way there soundwise? I'm so out of touch with the gear market since getting my matamp I've no idea what's out there these days. Music is mainly loud metal/hard rock, but I do like to record hiphop bass for a side project. My requirements :- *500watts *Fat clear sound with ability to take pedals well *210/410 w/jack AND speakon connect *Cab to pair with my valve head occasionally I'm quite open to suggestion cab wise but it's got to sound good with my valve amp and be lightweight. Maybe a 210? A 215? Cheers all Tim
  21. They are brilliant, couldn't do without mine! This is a deal people
  22. Can I ask where you picked the keeley up from? Quite interested in checking that out
  23. Can I just chime in here and add that this interface is just incredible. I've used one since they first came out and have recorded multiple sources from full bands, solo acoustic music, hip hop bass sessions. Always performs flawlessly. Absolute steal
