1.
My supa squier Telebass
That bass is fantastic! What pickups are in it?
2.
I went through the stage of thinking i should upgrade my 2009 MIM, mainly due to talking myself into them being not that great due to its price However a year on, a handful of gigs on it and comparing it to other basses ive played or heard played over the year, I am now sure it does provide a very decent respectable passive fender tone Do you really need to upgrade it?
Its more a case of repairs than upgrades!
3. At the moment, a friend is going to do me a deal on a Lakland 44-02, so i shall sell everything and get that. The point of this thread was, at the end of the day, slimming down my bass collection to just 2 decent basses, so thats what im going to do. I'll miss my Precision loads, but its not like i cant pick one up again another time. Another reason for this is Rex was the bass i used with "Trick of the Light", so i feel no that band is over, i need to move on bass-wise and start afresh with a new rig!
4. Well, the MM is definately staying! The Epiphone and the Washburn are more than likely to be going, and i might sell the P-bass if i can find something decent to replace it with. Otherwise i'll use the funds to make the repairs/upgrades.
5.
Hi Lorry There is no reason you cant upgrade your MIM P bass to be as good tone wise as an MIA P bass..prob better with the right pickups......if your attached to it i would go down that route
Hi there, Yeah i think i will probably go for that - it will depend on what the others sell for, and whats on the used market at the time! Cheers L
6. Hi all, I'm still pretty new here, and i havent posted a thread about my basses yet - been too busy sorting out my pedalboard! Fender Marcus Miller - Fender MiM Precision - Washburn Taurus T-24 - Epiphone EB3 Had the EB3 a long time, doesnt really get used much. The Marcus Miller and the Precision are the mainstay gigging basses. I'm most definately a P-kinda guy! The Taurus i've had about a month, havent used it at a gig yet, but it sounds good! The current problem i have at the moment is funding and space. Recently i feel it might be a better investiment in money, time and space, if i just have the MM Jazz, and then another decent bass, instead of the Jazz and 3 backups. Im tempted at the moment to sell the Eb3 and the Taurus, and then possibly sell the Precision. Then use the funds to buy another P-bass of some kind (possibly MIA if i can find one used). The only thing, is that i'm quite attached to my P-bass, "Rex". So my other option would be to sell the EB3 and the Taurus, and use the funds from them to upgrade the Mexi. It could do with a new bridge, and i would like to change the pickups and cosmetics slightly. This could also fund a decent hardcase (the one i have for it is on its last legs). I'm not sure what to do - what would you do? Cheers Lorry
7.
tolex rip = mojo. be glad it isnt a cone ripped, like i thought you meant.
haha yeah true, but the cab isnt best quality, so that'll probably be the next issue!
8.
Ripped?
Yeah, the Vinyl on the cab got torn in the band trailer on route to rehersal. The head also has a small scuff. I've managed to cover both up with black gaffa tape, so all is well. Im just annoyed as i was going to get rid of it, so now it has affected the resale value! =[
9. No gig i have been to has had a DI for the bass. My amp isnt amazing, and i prefer the sound of a DI box to my amp DI. The reason i want one though, is to use as a backup if my amp fails!!!
10. Big thanks to everyone that replied to my wah placement thread - I've repopulated the board to make the most of the space, as the WD7 is massive! I'm please to say that the board sounds fantastic! Still needs a DI, but i think i'm lacking the space, so i might invest in a marshall echohead instead. Next job will be to upgrade the cabling i think... Signal chain is now: Bass > Boss OC-2 > Korg Pitchblack > Weeping Demon > Digitech Bass Driver > Boss GEB-7 > EHX Clone Theory > Amp
11.
there are quite a few wd7s here! i have two!
haha great! What settings do you use? I haven't had much time to play around with it yet. I have a feeling i'll probably leave it in the switch mode rather than the spring loaded setting. apparently its not true bypass - have you noticed any major tone suck? Cheers, L
12. Thanks for all the tips and suggestions Firstly, the EQ is used to make the bass cut through the FOH mix, and doesnt have anything to do with my dirt box - but now you have said that i might play around! With guitar setups, i've always had the wah first, then the dirt, so i will probably end up putting the wah between the OC2 and the dirt! Cheers
13. Sounds like just the thread for me - Theres some nice gear in here fellow teenagers! I'm 18 and have had lots of experience gigging. At the moment, my Bass rig consists of the following! Fender Marcus Miller - Fender MiM Precision - Washburn Taurus T-24 - Epiphone EB3 Marshall MB450H & MBC115 (which got ripped today =[ ) And this pedalboard, which today gained a Weeping Demon wah! I'm also luck enough to have a pretty nice guitar rig too. 1989 Squier Stratocaster & Fender TC90, with various pedals and a Marshall 8280 Valvestate 2x12 combo. My room is pretty full, as you can imagine!
14. I'm glad i know this now, as i always thought i lost out by buying a newer version!
15. Hi all, Today i gained an Ibanez Weeping Demon wah to use on my bass pedalboard. I know a wah has to be very near the front of the chain, but i'm not sure wether it goes before or after octave effects? My chain currently is: Bass > Pitchblack > OC2 > Digitech bass Driver > Boss GEB-7 > EHX Clone > Amp I assume the wah should go been the DBD and the Oc2? What do you all think? Cheers -Lorry
16.
I like it!
Nice to know im not the only one using a WD7!
17. Took my board today out to auditions my band was hosting... came in very handy from the jamming! Also got rid of the CS-3 from my guitar board, and traded it for an Ibanez WD7 Weeping Demon - Sounds great so far!
18.
Thanks! The Echohead is great, 7 different features from long reversed delays to slapback / reverb type delays an with the addition of the tap tempo I'm more than happy with it
Ahh thats good to hear! I might have to order one of those then. I've been toying with the idea for a while but i noticed not many people seemed to use them with bass! Cheers
19.
Been fiddling about with mine again an thinking that getting something like now but still a bit ???
Nice board, its really neat & tidy! How do you find the Echohead?
20. I havent got any pics of my basses on my sofa, but i do have pictures of them again the day bed, does that count
21. As in Trace Elliot? I never liked their stuff very much...
22. Looks great, take care of it! A Washburn Taurus T24 came into my possession recently, and im getting on with it great!
23. Yeah i definately need 10s or 12s rather than a 15. I might investigate into 2x10 cabs then. Would be nice to have a 2x10 + 1x15 rig
24.
Save for an Ashdown ABM, huge upgrade over the EB180, i used to have an EB180 (well i still do, but it's broken) and the difference is just incredible.
Yeah i'm after an MAG for the moment, possibly with ABM cabs. The plan is to get the cabs first, then flog the marshall head and get an Ashdown head.
At 4 ohms you will be getting 300w,with an extra cab you will get the full 450w.I use both of my cabs seperately for different gigs, the 1x15 does not cut through in a loud band gig,the other cab does.
Yeah the 1x15 doesnt cut through well at all, but like i've said above, i'll upgrade all the cabinets first and see where it goes from there! The 300W is pleanty loud enough for me though, more than enough to go over the two 100W stacks and my drummer! Just wish i could get it to cut through...
25. This is my gig rig (sorry for the bad picture). Its very Simple. I used to have an Ashdown Electric Blue 180, but bought the MB450H half stack because i liked it and it had more power, but now i regret selling the Ashdown, as the Marshall doesnt cut through as well. I might gig with this rig this year, and then go back to Ashdown when funding allows! Pedalboard: As well as an AKG Wireless unit. I know most people on here arent too keen on the MB series, so if anyone has any better suggestions for classic rock and blues, feel free to make a suggestion! -Lorry
