1. Have been using a Glockenklang Bass Art Classic preamp for the past 4-5 years. Specialises in ultra clear, clean and fast, with a little very musical almost tube like warmth (never sounds hard, cold or sterile). Very deep clear powerful lows (much faster but not as weighty as an Ampeg), strong musical mids and really clear clean highs. Can do a bit of overdrive, but not really what it was designed to do. Will ruthlessly expose any defects in other equipment or your playing. I've tried most preamps over the many years I've been playing and Glockenklang is absolutely my first choice for transistor based amps.
  2. [sub]I'm appreciating KISS (keep It Simple Stupid) more than ever these days and my sound has never been better than after I dumped a whole load of effects I really wasn't using.[/sub] [sub]I therefore now have a fairly large pedalboard with very few things on it:[/sub]

[sub]Aguilar DB659: Pre-amp, compression, a little overdrive & Jensen DI[/sub]
[sub]Strymon Bluesky Reverb: Standard reverb & chorused (modulated) reverb [/sub]
[sub]Tuner: Tuner and practice headphone amplifier[/sub]
4. Sold a Bongo 5 to Graeme. Great guy, instant payment and just superb communications - one of the easiest transactions I've ever had. Many thanks and highly recommended.
  5.
due to unforseen circumstances, all my basses are for sale at the bass gallery in london camden town.
Pierre, sounds ominous. Everything ok?
  6.
trade with a Markbass LM800 head?
Nice amp, but I'm really after cash for this one (got an ACG on order that I will need to pay for). Thanks for the offer though.
btw,are you in London?
South East London, near the train and tube line (easy access).
Ohhhh, that's my old Bongo! Fantastic instrument, I still miss it... If I had the money right now I'd try to buy it back. Be assured, this is one hell of a bass!
Ah ha!! I wondered whether this bass might have had a little bit of history to it. Thx for the kind words, it is one of the best basses I've tried (and I've tried the vast majority of them over the past 20+ years). I just so wish I could get used to the 5 strings...old dog new tricks (very very old dog!).
  7. At last, the final picture. Sorry for the awful resolution, seemingly the only way to get the picture to upload. Let me know you email address if you would like full resolution pictures.
  8. Now for those pictures of the scratches:
  9. I'm sure you all know what this is, but just in case or you like an easy life: What Is It? One of the most visually and sonically distinctive basses you are ever likely to see and hear:

Basswood body, maple neck and rosewood body (best of all worlds for good lows, snappy mids & great highs)
Neodymium pickups – Humbucker & single coil (most flexible option in my opinion)
18V 4 band onboard circuitry (Total tone control at your fingertips)
24 medium sized frets & unique half-moon fretboard markers
Fantastic low action & a tone to die for (best lows I’ve heard anywhere)
Beautiful and unique desert gold colour (sadly no longer available)
Standard really solid and very adjustable bridge
Designed in conjunction with BMW
Complete with Musicman hard case.
Check out some of the reviews: http://www.ernieball...go6_review1.jpg http://www.ernieball...go6_review2.jpg http://www.gear-vaul...bongo-6-review/ What Condition Is It In? In excellent condition. A very small scuff on the bottom, a couple of minor scratches on the back, one tiny surface blip on the neck and a couple of scratches on the headstock (I'll try adding pictures of these on subsequent postings as my computer keeps freezing when I add all the pictures to the one post). Why Am I Selling It? I got this bass as part of a trade for some other gear, really love the looks and the sound but cannot quite get used to the number of strings (I’ve played ERBs for too long). Needless to say the spec for the ACG ERB I’ve got on order was based on being able to replicate the Bongo tone. Costs about £1600 to buy new. Looking for £875 (incl P&P).

Sold a Petersen tuner. Quick payment and good communication. Recommended.
  11. Sold BassBod a Sadowsky pedal. Very smooth transaction, quick payment great communication and very patient. Recommended.
  12. Time for a bump me thinks, as there is no more accurate way of tuning than this...
  13.
Free bump! I have one of these, and it's great! Check out the features for mp3 playback too, very usefull! And works a treat when plugged into a multi fx that has a "line-in" facility. There you go dude, that should sell it for you! Db
As he says, great little device for recording and also for practising (can slow down backing track without affecting pitch for easier / quicker learning).
  14. Sorry for the slow reply, been busy for a while now. The PJB 24B does not have the neo drivers, so it will weigh a little more. The cabinet also has to be really solid & well reinforced, as it is hugely powerful and genuinely can cause structural damage (as one person found out http://www.bgra.net/2004/review.php?id=434&type=cabinet). In reality it is more than a match for any 8x10 cabinet I know (no other single cab I know can produce 25Hz sub bass at 2400watts RMS with more depth/punch/slam than 10” drivers can produce). What’s more it is actually smaller than most 8x10’s and weighs no more than a number of them (e.g. Aguilar 8x10 weighs 184lbs or 84Kg). This cab and the Crest CA9 power amp I’m selling are the culmination of years of effort and loads of money pursuing the bass rig with the biggest deepest most powerful tone and ultimate punch/slam. I genuinely think that both of these are unlikely to ever be bettered and will be remembered as classics. I miss using these every Sunday as I play in my new church and I know I will seriously regret selling them. However after 18 months of trying to deceive myself that I might use them again soon, I realise I must accept the reality that this is really unlikely and that they are simply too good to have lying around my home unused.
  15. Still looking for the right home...the home that likes the biggest deepest most powerful bass possible!
  16. Still looking for the right home...
  17. Still looking for the right home...
  18. No more accurate way to ensure you are in tune...
  19. Bump for all those want to recording or practise along to tracks to improve their playing...
  20. Bump for one of the quickest and best upgrades I ever made to my bass rig.
  21. +1 to the comments above. Sold Roger an MXR pedal, which was a very easy and smooth transaction thanks to his great communication and quick payment. Many thanks and highly recommended.
  22. I'm sure you all know what this is, but just in case you don't or you like an easy life: What Is It? Professional power amp (2000W bridged into 4 ohms) with truly exceptional low-end response, making it pretty much the power amp of choice within the US bass playing community and that that recommended by Jim Bergantinio (need we say anymore?). Huge wall of clear, deep & effortlessly powerful/authoritative tone that put a grin on the face of every single bass player who tried mine, messed with their internals and left an indelible mark on their mind (don’t say you weren’t warned…). I’m a bit of an audio geek and truthfully I was a little sceptical about fellow US bass players rave comments about the difference this power amplifier made, until I got one and was truly astounded at just how much cleaner, deeper & more authoritative the sound was. I regularly used this amplifier and the PJB 24B cabinet that I’m also selling on stage in a lively evangelical church with a full band and it easily filled a full capacity 700 seater auditorium with no PA support and with plenty of reserves to spare (I regularly had to turn down because the floor shook too much and the sound travelled too far!) Here's a review (http://www.djzone.net/pg/archives/0499/gear.shtml). What Are The Specs?

Balanced XLR & ¼ inch jack inputs (accepts non balanced jack signals as well)
Speakon outputs
Overbuilt toroidal transformer power supply for extra transient response (bass slam in other words)
Short circuit, Thermal & DC Voltage Protection Circuitry
Twin tunnel cooling, with dual quiet rear mounted continuously variable speed fans (really quiet and studio friendly)
Ground lift switch
240V operation
What Condition Is It In? Perfect working order. Some scratches around the rack mounting ears and one of the signal LEDs no longer works. Why Am I Selling It? I’ve left my old large church and am fully committed to a small church (approx 60 people!), for which this is sadly totally inappropriate. I love this amplifier and it really pains me to sell it along with my beloved PJB 24B speaker cabinet, but neither have been used for the past 18 months and they are simply too good to have unused. Very difficult to get in the UK, but approx. £1,000 new. Looking for £500 (+ delivery unless you fancy a trip to South London to collect). PJB 24B speaker traded (subject to the usuals), therefore special deal previously offered with this power amp no longer possible.
  23. I'm sure you all know what this is, but just in case or you like an easy life: What Is It? Absolutely no compromise specialist bass guitar speaker. 24 x 5” Piranha heavy duty low frequency drivers produce the deepest, fastest punchiest lows available anywhere and all the highs and clarity but without the horrible ultra high hiss so commonly obtained from horns and other tweeters. Advantages of these small cones include:

Lightening fast & punchy tone (my old Hartke 4.5XL was positively lethargic compared to this cab)
Sound projection far exceeds everything else (stand back at least 10-15 feet to really appreciate this)
Ultimate huge deep authoritative tone & slam factor (flat response down to 25Hz, lower than a low B at 31Hz)
Massive power handling – 2400Watts rms (5.3 ohms light easy load)
Clear clean reproduction of all frequencies (no big bass cone speaker distortion giving muddy indistinct lows)
Produces 127dB at 10 feet with recommended amplifier (Jet aircraft produce 130dB!)
Truthfully I was a little sceptical whether 5” drivers would work for bass. However in larger numbers they are a true revelation and nothing comes close to the tonal size, depth, slam and sheer authority of this cabinet (I’ve tried just about everything from Ampeg 8x10 to Hartke 2x15 to Trace Elliot 1x15 & 4x10 stack). I regularly used this cabinet with the Crest CA-9 power amplifier that I’m also selling on stage in a lively evangelical church with a full band and it easily filled a full capacity 700 seater auditorium with no PA support and with plenty of reserves to spare (I regularly had to turn down because the floor shook too much and the sound travelled too far!). Check out some reviews (http://www.bassplayer.com/article/15552 & http://www.harmonycentral.com/products/94639). Why Am I Selling It? I’ve left my old large church and am fully committed to a small church (approx 60 people!), for which this is sadly totally inappropriate. I love this speaker and it really pains me to sell it along with my beloved Crest CA-9 speaker cabinet, but neither have been used for the past 18 months and they are simply too good to have unused. In immaculate condition, never pushed hard and to all intents and purposes brand new. Costs approx £2K to purchase new, looking for £800 (+ delivery unless you fancy a trip to South London to collect). Special Deal This speaker and the Crest CA-9 power amplifier I’m also selling mate together beautifully, to create a bass rig of unrivalled authoritative power, depth, clarity and slam (and I’ve tried the best from Aguilar, Ampeg, Ashdown, Eden, Epifani, Genz Benz, GK, Hartke, Mark Bass, Mesa Boogie, SWR, Trace, Warwick….). It would cost £3,000 to buy new, but I will sell them together for £1,200 as they really do deserve to remain together (£1,300 if bought separately from me).
