How did the gig go? What band are you with (I'm a fellow Swindon dweller)
It was well...... Superb, the sound was brilliant, in fact the best comment was from my wife who simply said " I could actually hear what you were playing tonight" which I think just about sums it up really Plenty of low down grunt, but clarity that punches through the mix with ease Gain was at 9 o'clock and master was at 12 o'clock, everything else was pretty much at 12 with a minor tweak here and there My band is Alter Chaos - www.alterchaos.co.uk Facebook link is in my signature (we are just changing singers this week so no gigs planned, but booking will commence shortly)
-
Well I hope I have got you all so far

First outing in anger tonight !!!!!!! Let's see how well it rocks the pub

Pinball Do you have a Twitter account and a YouTube channel Google loves Twitter, it's easy to then link the Twitter account to your facebook so that any postings on facebook are automatically tweeted and vice versa That's what I have done, I have however not enable SEO on our website so it doesn't register in searche yets, but I am laying the foundations ready It's also yet another social media website to try and build a following on, we are going to have a friend in the audience of next gig just taking photos and tweeting them constantly throughout the night These automatically just get shared with the Facebook page
-
Pinball Done Here is our page if you would like to return the favour https://www.facebook.com/alterchaos?ref=ts&fref=ts As we are pretty local to each other maybe we could hook up in the summer for some dates, there is a few of us bands looking to stage some small multi band festivals in Bristol next year

Well on Sunday i duly took my new rig off to band practice, so here goes a simple review from a simple person !! Tone hammer 500 and 2x TKS S112's playing an active fender precision lyte This week we were in a large hall, so very loud drums and 2x line 6 combos, we are a heavy rock band playing metallica and iron maiden sort of songs, so quite loud I must admit I am a just plug it and play type of person and don't particularly chase sounds I went with victors suggestions of all the knobs of the eg at 12, I put the drive around to About 9 o clock and put the gain at around 10.30, more or less pointing at the G of gain I then waited for the drummer to start bashing and duly moved the master round to where I though it needed to be, once again at about 12 o clock The guitarist kicked in and away we went into a bit of ozzy I had my wireless pack on and so went to he back of the hall to listen, OMG I went straight back to the amp and wound the master down, the punch it was delivering at the back of the hall was unlike what I had experienced before, very clear but with plenty of bottom end I ended up with the master pointing at the M of master and it was still very evident in the mix, so it certainly doesn't lack power I have come from a peavey 15" black widow and so the clarity offered by these cabs was quite remarkable, very nice thick low notes but a real shine to higher notes, especially a popped octave note My bass is a precision lyte and so I have an active EQ on board with both a P and a J and winding back and forth with the blend pot really made a difference nice thick notes with the P to growly mid tones on the J To be honest I never really then touched the amp as I was so happy with what I had, my chorus pedal sounded lovely through it especially wound back onto the J a little bit Winding the drive up then starts to add some overdrive to it where upon reaching 2-3 o clock we had some real nice distortion going on for some power chord action So there we go, I'm not really sure if this has helped anyone as im not sure I know what i m talking about 😀😀 But as far as I'm concerned I am well chuffed with the rig, the guys at bass gear and the whole experience, to me it's a massive step up from my peavey BW and a massive difference in what I'm now carrying into a venue and in the car. The sound to my ears is what I want from my bass playing, I'm not a huge connoisseur of tone, i just want a tone that suits my playing, suits the music I play and can be heard by the people in the pub, with this rig I feel I have achieved on all 3 Will it satisfy me, 😊 for now but can you ever really cure GAS😉 Actually I would love another precision lyte 😀😀

First gig of the year will actually be the 27th having joined a new band after 4 years in the wilderness of not wanting to play or to be let down by idiot band members We already have a gig booked for 2015 so at least it will be equal to this year Would be very interested in working with some Bristol / south west based rock bands next year

2 bases, 2 different tunings for me But either could be retuned to fulfil the role of the other

http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-17w-switched-mode-acdc-multi-voltage-power-supply-l06br This one would seem to cover it, it gives you 1.7A at 12v and you can insert the tip either way round to get the negative tip Alternatively you could get the one you linked to, but you may need to cut the plug off and rejoin it with the cables the other way round
-
Yes you need 12v with at least 1.5a But you need negative centre pin same as the boss pedal power supplies, this is indicated by the small picture above the " made in China" The Link to the one on amazon doesn't say what it is, but normally they are positive centre pin I'll try and find one
-
The A rating is the amount of power the power supply will supply So it will depend on the current load of the pedal, but 2A should be fine The most important thing with effects pedals is the polarity, ie whether the centre pin is positive or negative, this changes from pedal to pedal There should be a label on the pedal that's states it's requirements, if you're unsure take a picture of it and post it up

Whoa. They look tiny against that double bass

Well having read this review I went up to bass gear on Saturday and can quite easily say that I fully agree with the reviews above I also chucked in a fusion 500 as well to test But after 3hrs the TKS S112's with the TH500 were the winners, IMO they sounded superb The wife has since said that she will divorce me if I get the snakeskin, !!!!

Well having read this forum over and over again and trawled the internet for advice on a new rig It was decided this morning that it was time to make good on the threats and actually go to Bass Gear in Twyford So I packed up my guitar and headed down the M4 First of I got a coffee, so that's one up on any other type of shop I have been to, I then spent a very enjoyable 3hrs in there trying everything that Vic and Phil could throw at me and listening to a nice chap play away on his new bass I tried mark bass 12" combo and additional 12" cab GK Mb800 with 2x 12" GK neo cabs GK fusion 500 with 2x 12" GK neo cabs TH500 with 2x 12" Aggie cabs TH500 with 2x 12" berg cabs GK fusion 500 with 2x 12" berg cabs TH500 with 2x TKS 12" cabs GK fusion 500 with 2x TKS 12" cabs Vic and Phil were absolute stars and listened to my whims and offered expert advice, I went in with no idea as to what I wanted and didn't want to replicate anyone and so I approached with open mind and let my ears decide what to buy Did I make a decision?? Yes I did, but this thread is more about the bass gear experience and how extremely well I was treated and what a joy the experience was So massive thanks to Vic and Phil and of course Barrie for all your advice via PM . . . . . . . . . . . . . Oh yes I decided on this, in my opinion a great sound for me and I loved it Just deciding on the vinyl before submitting my order
