When I'm reading, I actually don't read the notes and think thats an A, thats a C# etc... I read the intervals between them and relate that back to the key signature, ie if I see an A then a note on the next line up I'll play the interval I see. I've no idea if thats right, I've never been taught properly but its served me well
Each to their own If it works for you then it works!

Continued Mistakes at Gigs.....how would you address this problem?
Myke replied to thebigyin's topic in General Discussion
How bad are the mistakes? Do they completely ruin the song or are they small errors in certain songs? -
Holy crap!
Yes I did. I like Jazzes more than the Precision I sold to get the SG Std. I still want to have a long scale Fretted. I have a long scale Fretless Jazz, a short scale SG Std., and a Fretted Jazz, when it shows up that is. That rounds me out. I prefer Jazzes over Precisions, so for me it works OK to have the second Jazz.
Ohh! That's understandable!
Thing is Myke, a lot of the set that I play, I wouldn't choose to sit and listen to at home. The band I'm with at the moment, unlike a lot of bands that I see about and bands I've been with in the past, tend to play stuff that hopefully is generally of a feel good nature and gets the audience dancing. Get the girls bopping about and the chaps will be close by and spending at the bar; this means happy bar/club owner and we get invited back. It works for us
Can't argue with that!
Two, then life complete: 1. 1974 Fender Jazz complete with original case and bridge/Pup covers 2. Mid 80's Fender P/J I'd have all 3 a man would ever need. Oh, one more item: 3. Talent Cheers, Rich
Talent's overrated! Practice, practice and practice! I don't have any talent, hence why I preach this
Some gorgeous basses in that rack - is it a Carl Thompson at the back - and what are the others - very nice indeed!
They look like Letts Basses to me. Not sure though.

Oh :/ that makes it more awkward.. I'm not sure then. Sorry
Only if that's how you want to read it. Admittedly, it's a fairly vague statement. But he meant that they didn't have a choice when it came down to miming or playing live. It was either mime, or do without.
And how do you know to read it differently?

I've never done it, but would the zip code not be the postcode and the state the county?

Nothing's really wrong with it, I just fancied a change. And I'd like to see what my bass sounds like in passive too. It's all about experimenting really. Thank you for the video, I quite like the sound of the Delano in there as well.

Hello, I was looking to replace the preamp in my Yamaha TRB5 and had come up with the bartolini HR-5.2/918AP. I was wondering where I could hear one? Also, without replacing the pickups could I make it active/passive or not? Thanks for nay information. Mike P.S. I did come up with a previous thread for this but it didn't really help.
There's a bit of a difference between setting up a stage, and then rigging up all the equipment that the musicians need. A stage can simply be wheeled onto the grounds, amps and instruments require mics and power, and it all takes time to set up. When I've seen them live, it's usually taken about 30-40 minutes to set up all their gear after the support acts.
Lights require power too.. And who says other things can't be wheeled on? I mean that stage is pretty massive, it's not like they weren't capable of wheeling on some power supplies Also, why did they have to be mic'd up, put everything through the PA via DI and it's fine Now I do understand the logistical nightmare behind playing live but I'm sure with enough planning and preparation then it could have been done if RHCP had really fought for it.

So they didn't have enough time to set up a stage at the Super Bowl.. Hmm I remember 2010.. Pretty massive stage show here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScA2FqJn9ic

Unfortunately I think the only way to practice playing a fretless is on a fretless Saying that, I have done your way before but never in training
Btw, I anyone's thinking if putting together their own U-Bass on the cheap, you might want to look into this option first! £100 for a Kala clone: http://www.thomann.d...na_clu_bass.htm
That's interesting, I haven't seen that before. I think I spent £50 on mine and it does the job, sounds proper nice actually, very addictive to play! The strings need some serious stretching, I didn't do that before I put them on so will probably just live with it for now but needs tuning every 10mins or so atm.

Some sort of 2x10 with some sort of head! Not very specific at all!

I watched a presentation on this recently. A lot of people now prefer to listen on the internet. Soundcloud, website or some such other platform, rather than listen to a CD now a days.

You can steam them off with an iron.
